BYD Atto 3 On Genting - Road Handling and Hill Climb Test | YS Khong Driving.

- We have driven the Atto 3 before, during the official test drive session organized by BYD for the media, but of course, we must take it up our favorite mountain, just to check out its true handling and power.
Bearing in mind that it is a SUV, and thus has a higher ride height than a normal sedan, I must say the Atto 3 can slug it out with some of the continental cars that happened to be on the same course.
We also learned something during this drive - when the battery power drops to below 50 percent, the management system appears to take over and reduce the power to the drive system - it must be to save on the remaining power - so it will restrict the power going to drive the vehicle - thus you will see the Atto 3 being passed by one of the two continental turbocharged cars that were trailing behind for the most part. - ยานยนต์และพาหนะ
I don't think the Atto 3 has ever been tested like this anywhere in the world 😆But this was great fun to watch! Can't wait for YS Khong to drive the BYD Seal!

I have a byd and it did not happen to me, in israel we dont have such a long hill drive..

Just wondering if the steering and brakes is set to sport mode on the screen as well? Its different than the sport mode toggle switch on the centre console.

I am an Atto 3 owner. Yes, there is an option to do it via the screen. Possibly via voice command too. Can't test this though. The voice recognition system has trouble understanding my accent.

Power cut off due to battery heat. To preserve the battery health. Latest version came with Continental tyres. Old version is china brand tyres.

Nice! In the real world, you would say there's no need to test a comfortable SUV in that way. But it's nice to know that a 'normal' driver won't have any issues driving this car a little faster (not on your professional level I mean) on roads like that. It gives you a little confidence the car handles good enough.

Actually, many cars from far away like Kajang, Pj go to Genting whack all the way up and return home thereafter still show full tank!😅

Because it's an electric car, you don't have the engine noise to cover the screech. Petrol car also has a lot of screeching, you just don't hear it because of engine.

My guess is that the electric motor has heated up substantially and the AI is trying to cool things down.

That feeling when the car wont do what you wanted it to do. The car probably thinks it is smarter than you so it reduces the power you can use to reach its range.
Nope, not for range. BYD's have thermal cooling issues. Cut power to not overheat the battery/motor

I have driven in Camerons, some very nice sections, but traffic jams on weekends, so it's not nice to drive.
