    This just happened to me last night on my new XL750. I was into my second batch of a 100 38 spls when my primer arm started hanging back. I am heading down right now to my reloading room and making that adjustment. Thank You and God Bless!

    Seems like something might have been miscalibrated when shipped from the factory by having the angle of the return bar was off-axis, causing your original issue. Good to see the fix is also pretty simple.

    Great video. I just got my 750 and it’s fine but I have watched other videos talking about this. You by far have the simplest and most straight to the point video. Good job brother!

    I didn't watch this video initially because I knew it was for your 750....then watched your 1k review on it and you said it's the same priming system as the 550 so now I'm watching it because I have 550s ...I'll check mine to see if they are doing this I don't think they are but I'm going to find out Thanks for the tip!!!

      It was immediate fix for me because my 550s done the same thing.

    Before searching it took my primer assembly apart, thoroughly cleaned and lubed it, and reassembled. Within 5 rounds it was back to hanging up. Stupid me didn’t see the pulley had that much play. Thanks for the help.

      This is fairly common with the 550s so it was an immediate fix for me. Interesting Dillon transferred the same problem from the 550 to the 750

    Been a 650 owner for about 23 years now, and am deeply ensconced into the brand. I've probably got 15 conversion kits, more than that in quick change heads, the RT1200 & 1500 trimmers, God knows how many trim die heads set up, I make my own 300 Blackout brass, yada, yada.... yes, I'm a YUGE fanboy of Big Blue. However, my instant reaction when I saw the 750 over on Gavintoobe was that I really did not like the looks of that bent-rod activation of the primer system. This screamed hurried piss-poor engineering, and that we just HAD to change something on the machine to say we're innovative instead of looking stale. I can understand wanting to isolate the primer stack, but in the 100's of thousands of rounds I've loaded, not once have I ever had a primer detonation in the machine, and I think they bunted a thud on this one... more of a case of fixing something that wasn't at all broken.

    • @SquatchReloaded
      @SquatchReloaded  4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I know a lot of reloaders that share your same thoughts in the 650. I didn’t have any detonation concerns either with mine. My biggest complaint was the constant priming and the sky jump. I have been loading on 550s for a long time so I switched back from the 650. With the need to increase production and the old primer setup I was used to it helped sell it for me. But I hear everything you are saying.

    Thanks Squatch. Do you add any grease to the underside of the primer slide bar? So it rides smoothly on the metal plate it rides on?

    • @SquatchReloaded
      @SquatchReloaded  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I haven’t ever added any grease. I do keep it clean by removing it and wiping the parts down.

  • @CoolSteve77

    I started having this problem with my 750 last night. I am going to give this a shot tonight and see if it fixes it. Also, my casefeeder keeps getting stuck with 9mm cases in it. Have you had that problem? If so, what was the solution? Thanks for the videos. I have watched most of them and you do a very good job.

    • @SquatchReloaded
      @SquatchReloaded  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have found if you get to many cases in there it causes problems. I only run 1 and 1/2 Dillon akro bins max in the case feeder for 9mm

    • @CoolSteve77
      @CoolSteve77 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@SquatchReloaded I tried only putting in a couple of handfuls and it is still getting caught up a lot. I spoke with someone from Dillon yesterday and he said that is common with small pistol cases. Just wondering if you or anyone figured out a solution. Thank you for replying!

    • @SquatchReloaded
      @SquatchReloaded  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hmmm I haven’t experienced that exactly. Don’t know if this would help but I wipe down the inside of my casefeeder and plates with wax paper once they are cleaned up to keep the slippery. I personally think that Dillon needs to make some changes to the small pistol plates. I get upside down 9mm frequently. I have heard of guys modifying them and using another feeder plate from Hornady I think.

    • @TheDjranier
      @TheDjranier 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I had the same problem, right at the micro switch that cuts the feeder off? I used a pair of needle nose pliers and bent the left spring steel holder to the left. The tube now catches on the outside edge on he left side, instead of fully in. No more stuck cases of any type. They are actually catching on the top of the plastic tube that feeds to the press.

    • @SquatchReloaded
      @SquatchReloaded  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you are talking about the plastic sleeve that inserts into the pivot arm you can adjust the pivot with a set screw on the back side and it will not hang up there any more.

  • @garageliving3658
    @garageliving3658 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Have you had the problem with primers not seating far enough or seating too far? I'm having issues with unreliable ammo because of this and can't seem to find a solution. 9mm btw, and I'm making sure I use the same amount of force on the handle

  • @TheDjranier
    @TheDjranier 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    I had a different issue, it looks like you may have had the same. In the first 30 sec or so of your video, on the top of the primer sense rod, did you add weight to the top of it? I made up a 5/32 brass rod with 4 ounces of weight on it. Have run over 12,000 rounds without a miss fed primer. Before I did that, I would see them come shooting out at times, or just not pickup a primer at all. Was becoming very frustrating. Plus about every 12,000 rounds the 2 springs break, the primer return spring, and the indexer spring. Usually within a hour of each other.

    • @SquatchReloaded
      @SquatchReloaded  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes that is a 45 ACP case with a lead weight on the inside. That is something I have done for years.

    Love your show. Problem with primer feed. It is crushing some of my primers as I try to install them. I have pulled the slide back and they are not sitting square. Cleaned everything but can’t figure it. Small primer on my 40 SW
    Please advise.

      @SquatchReloaded  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Have you confirmed you have the correct primer cup installed. th-cam.com/video/NRohNCLPw4I/w-d-xo.html

    • @rethompson9620
      @rethompson9620 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Squatch Reloading it came with the 40 SW conversion kit. It doesn’t crush all is the problem.

    • @SquatchReloaded
      @SquatchReloaded  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Also you may need to adjust the slide with the small Allen bolt right above the slide on the front side. This adjust how far back the cup goes into the magazine

    Have you tried using the mr.bullet loader? Any problems with the powder check? Any solutions to this problem?

    • @SquatchReloaded
      @SquatchReloaded  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I believe the bullet feeder go in place of the powder check. Of course you could run a combo seat/crimp die and keep that station open. However I would never advocate seat/crimp in the same step.

      Could be that your:
      - magazine tip is damaged
      - magazine cap is too tight
      - slide bar need adjusted (small set screw)

    there is a fix on the 550.it's a plate that goes under the slide and has a bearing
    on the left side that keeps the slide from binding. don't remember the source though.

    • @SquatchReloaded
      @SquatchReloaded  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Cyndee T I had tried one of those a few years ago. Honestly keeping the plate and slide clean is all you need to do. There are so many snake oil products for Dillon presses. Just my two cents

      Assuming you were watching this video because you were having issues with your primer slide bar not moving forward after cycling. Can explain the problem any better than actually re creating it… putting it on video then showing you how to fix it. Have a good day sir.
