As the new Media lead and so called FOH Engineer. I have found since we don't have a wide range in volumes between our music and the Pastor I can keep them about the same. The only thing I have noticed (can't do anything about it right now) is the mix online will not match the in house mix because in house I have to account for acoustic instruments (IE: Piano). Right now we have 1 Piano, 1 acoustic Guitar, 2 Keyboards, and 1 Flute combined with 1 song leader and 6 background voices. I try to keep the music to -6 and under on the meters and Pastor ranges between -15 and -3. For us it's been good so far.
As a church foh engineer this is super helpful. I was on the right track, but I totally learned a ton from this. Many thanks!!
So glad that this was helpful!

Dynamic range is hard to accomplish while broadcasting. Then getting the pastor's inflections across with the compression broadcast calls for.
