Like the Void Lords, Azeroth cannot directly influence the universe, so they all created their weaker vassals to act on their behalf. Which would suit the story of An'she and mu'sha. The sun and the moon were once part of (the eyes of) Azerorh itself. Azerite is gold and blue, which may symbolize both siblings.
I've been thinking for a while now that Azeroth is heavily inspired by the mesopotamian godess Ishtar; god of fertility and war((craft)). She also forms a trinity with the Sungod and the Moongod. She has a sister who is ((winter))queen in the underworld. Ishtar in other cultures is also known as Astarte (Astaroth in Phoenicia).
Maybe Elune is a dark troll that took a major blast of azeroths soul energy when the tree was ripped out? Could explain why she calls the night elves her favoured.

But Elune also is goddes of *Moon, so also can be that we gonna go there to find Her or her Avatar* (like with Old Gods). Eluna and Azeroth is different but cooperates very often and very closely....
This is the most likely thing in my opinion. If I had to guess, elune is a piece of azeroth and she created light and void, but over time these forces were corrupted. The light may be adhering to the will of the titans, and perhaps the void was taken over by dreadlords or something. We know the dreadlords are infiltrating every cosmic force. One thing they shouldn't do is cheapen all those badass paladin moments from wc3 to wrath by saying the light is evil and all it's followers are stupid people tricked by the light. The light should be a force for good, but maybe the army of the light and the naaru are somehow controlled.
So what does this make the Winter Queen, Elune's sister? Winter Queen is said to have been created by the First Ones, if she is to be sisters with Elune (other than in name only) then Elune must also be a product of the First Ones. Did the First Ones create Azeroth then? Doesn't make too much sense this time buddy.
Maybe sisters because they both create life. But its a dumb theory because Elune was always related to moon and NE. Imagine the stupidity of Blizzard saying that just NEs were correct all along...
A long while Ago, I remember that in Tauren lore Elune's equivalent (Azeroths moon) was the Earth Mother's daughter, so perhaps Azeroth is responsible for Elune. I'm going to ignore Shadowlands lore, because it wasn't going to go anywhere and Metzen isn't a fan. We will never hear about the First Ones again.
@justinb7494 Yeah, I doubt we will hear much about that lore. It was written when Metzen was absent from the company and he is basically the lore God of Warcraft. So now that he is back and most players hated the mythos/lore of Shadowlands - I am positive they will drop it. I didn't mind the idea of another plane of existence/afterlife aspect of it, or the characters.. what I really didn't like was the Idea of the First Ones and robot god constructs.. that ending was terrible. I don't ever think it's a good idea to overexplain the myths of your universe.. l it loses the "magic". I was more interested in WoW lore, when the Old God's, the Titans, the Light were all mysterious things. ;)
@justinb7494 don't get me wrong I'm not praising Metzen for being a genius (he has infact made some lazy choices) but he was solely responsible for lore since Warcraft 2, no one could say "No" to Metzen until he was gone. Being that Shadowlands isn't his creation, it wouldn't surprise me that they just stop talking addressing it if they can. I agree that they will make some tweaks, like the beings we've met continue to exist, and are the Titan equivalents of their plane of existence (after all it seems the afterlife is highly ordered and has titanish similarities). However the idea of "First Ones" being a higher order Pantheon that created their order and are even more powerful is very lazy and uncreative. This is why The Jailer is considered the weakest villain in WoW from a characterization stand-point. I think the closest thing is that Azeroth was inspired by Lovecrafts "Azethoth" Sleeping Idiot God. So Azeroth might be the True Spleeping creator deity that if fully awake it would undo reality. Maybe that's why the Titans imprisoned her and keep her in slumber - maybe Elune is Azeroth's keeper.. and maybe if Azeroth was the first entity that created everything.. then she is the closest thing to a First One. This is just all wild speculation of course, but I'm remembering that Metzen borrowed a lot of ideas from Lovecrafts mythos.
My theory is kajamite is azerite influenced by life energy. Azerite filters through the roots of elunahir and formed the kajamite in caverns/lava tubes. Azeroth was an elemental force that then had light influence it for ages. The original yellow. Then the void via the black empire influnces for an era. Titans of order remove and replace the void mainly with arcane (but Eonar plants elunahir) giving the current blue undertone. Push life into the tetrarch the Arathi use youd get a lime green that kaja cola looked like... Trolls, goblin, yuongal and murlocs are native to azeroth. Mogu are renegade watcher constructs that uplifted almost everything else as slave labour. Still not sure about panderans being uplifts.
Perhaps the Moon and the Sun of Azeroth are also a part of the goddess, aka the Earth Mother which would mean that Azeroth literally is Elune. They are one being or maybe a trio. Maybe this trio are the First Ones. It is said Elune is one of the true deities of Azeroth, which would imply the Earth Mother and Anshe are also true deities. Perhaps Azeroth created the Sun and Moon which can also explain why Xalatath calls Elune upstart, which would imply the Void being slightly older than Elune. It is also said Elune was there during the ordering of the cosmos which really goes towards light and void being slightly older than life, in its pure essence, without any forms like the Void Lords. We still did not get an explanation how Elune can use other cosmic forces but the new lore has a hint, the seventh force is either a neutral one (Elune, Anshe - balance, Azeroth- elemental neutral) or a mixture of the rest (Why Elune uses void, holy, arcane, life, death and such). Also life may be the strongest force actually because if you think of it, all beings that exist in the universe, even Old Gods, beings in the Shadowlands, the Naaru, Void Lords, Emerald Dream beings and Azeroth are actually alive. This goes well with Elune unlocking the heart of Xera. Maybe those trio actually gave form to all other cosmic forces which is why they may be the First Ones. Blizzard hints in every expansion that Elune and Azeroth are special.
I don’t think Elune is Azeroth because elune manifested things in legion and shadowlands that came from away from Azeroth and used a different color scheme than the abilities of Azeroth.
Since at least the Night Elves though that Elune was coming from the Well of Eternity, it's indeed absolutely not unlikely the Elune got something to do with Azeroth (in case that is true and not just some ill faith of the Nigh Elves), but I don't think that Elune IS Azeroth, but a Titan Corrupted fragment of it that was created when they used the Well of Eternity in their try to corrupt Azeroth. Maybe even a first experiment of how well it would work.
Elune is like a magic trick. Once you know how it's done it loses its prestige. Just look at the titans they where this gods and had so many mysterious. After SL it dilute there lore.
That is what happens in everything with Gods. They're all powerful until you see they're not. They're meant to be like the Greek and Nordic Gods which are just as flawed as people.
SL did nothing to the Titans, what are you talking about? If anythin then Dragonflight dug deeper, but the Titans being questionable is not new at all.
@@miriamweller812 Did you play SL. It was revealed that the titans are nothing more the construcs made by the first ones. They ain't special there just robots like the jailer. They can easily be reproduced.
Doron, have you been drinking? We are pretty well established that Elune is a daughter of one of the First Ones. The Tauren call her Earth Mother; white lady and blue child were the Earth mother's eyes. It would be interesting if Azeroth was an imprisoned First One -- Maybe Elune's mother... and it is the reason that her and An'she sacrificed so much to protect Azeroth. If she is not the offspring of a First One, then by what other mechanism has she become the only true deity in WoW?
Well, there also the fact that NE came from DT that settled near the well of eternity, which we know was the lifeforce/blood/energy of Azaroth mixed with arcane energy.
Still say Azeroth is a first one. Been saying since they started dropping the first ones name in SL. Would explain why all secondary powerful forces (titans void light and death) want her.
@@Ermji The quest indicated that she did, but out of interest I asked ChatGPT and it says no. It gave a long answer so I'll type the conclusion: "While there are thematic connections between Elune and the light, there is no concrete evidence in the lore to support the idea that Elune directly created the Naaru. Instead, the Naaru appear to have been born from the light itself, making them entities that predate most mortal races. Elune, on the other hand, remains en enigmatic figure whose full power and origins are still largely unexplored, despite some recent revelations in Shadowlands. The idea of a deeper relationship between Elune and the Naaru remains a compelling theory but is not currently backed by explicit lore." So you are correct there it would seem, it wasn't a fact. That stated, I still don't believe Elune is Azeroth.
If your only evidence of Azeroth being Elune is someone calling Azeroth "Goddess" that is some really weak reasoning. Elune has stronger connections to being a Death God counterpart because of all of the dialog from the Winter Queen in Shadowlands.
IF "Goddess" is talking about Elune in this case, then it's possible Elune probably had some influence on Azeroth in ages past. We know that, not long after the Dark Trolls became Night Elves VIA keeping in touch with the Well of Eternity, the Night Elves started to commune with Elune, and we know the Dream has an inherent connection with Azeroth, as well as the fact that Elun'ahir was seemingly a tree Elune gifted Eonar. So, Elune having some influence through Azeroth and her songs would totally make sense. However, it's also entirely possible "Goddess" just means Azeroth, and not Elune. I highly doubt any of this means "Azeroth is Elune", or vice versa.
Xal calling Elune an "upstart goddess" makes it very likely that Elune indeed is only as old as the Well of Eternity and didn't exist before. It's still absolutely unlikely that Elune is Azeroth, since that would lead to a COMPLETELY different story. Elune is at best a corrupted fragment.
@@lordhoratio The night elf and tauren myths about the White Lady/Earth Mother and Elune matching up in a way that suggests Elune stems from Azeroth in some manner
More like Azeroth is Azeroth the yellow part, which is shattered and there are crystals all around the world. And then the blue part of the world soul is Elune which has somehow crashed on to Azeroth and this is the War Within?
I believe that the Haranir are the ancestors of the night elves. Created by Eonar to protect nature. The trolls could be descended from the Worldbreakers and thus be creatures of Aggramar.
ok I'll bite at your speculations. here's mine. what if there is in fact a holy trinity involved? Azeroth, Anche, Elune. I don't count winter queen due to the faction leaders in the realms of death seem to be more sophisticated automatons with souls rather than living beings, but who knows.
Elune being in any way related to Azeroth (being her child, avatar, born with the well of eternity, etc) doesnt make any sense since we know that she exists beyond azeroth and perhaps even before, as there have been night warriors from other worlds and other times.
Elune could be a corrupted part of Azeroth created by the Titans (on purpose or not) from the Well of Eternity (which was created over 16.000 years ago and destroyed ~10.000 years ago) and them from there use its powers to reach out to other planets, there is enough time for that. Hell, with time travel possible, especially for divine beings, they could even influence the past in some ways and when you got extremists like the Titans who want to order the whole univers, you can be certains that they are using such thing as much as they go against anyone doing the same to go against their order. Don't forget the whole "True Time Line" thing, coming from a creation of the Titans.... Who made that the "True Time Line"?
Yeah no i don't think azeroth is elune. the tauren myth always makes the most sense and makes more sense with later reveals. Azeroth was fighting the old gods, sent elune and anshe out to protect them. Elune traveled the cosmos to try and find help for azeroth and anshe, her and eonar planted the first world tree that was probably corrupted and became y'shaarj (probably because it would be weird if aman'thul ripped giant things out of the planet two seperate times). That rip or elune being sent out of azeroth probably caused the well of eternity with the magic essence being sort of like azeroth's flowing blood. Elune probably noticed some dark trolls were around and basically told some to guard it while others were told to go to the rootlands. The physical moon near azeroth is basically a becaon so elune can have some pressence and watch over azeroth. Elune tried to get help from other worlds as well as other pantheons. I don't think the line of the winter queen being her sister is literal, i think it was that they gained such a bond because elune probably went to her and other life aligned titanic beings lile eoanar to try and heal azeroth. That also explains the upstart goddess line of xal'ath. Because elune isn't apart of a pantheon so she is seen as lesser, someone who is a outsider
Elune is just an artifact of an older era of lore that doesn't fit well in the current direction. Her dipping into so many "cosmic forces" reflects this.
Didnt we have a dialogue between Elune + Winterqueen in ardenweal regarding the night elf sacrifice? where she talked through tyrande about the cascade of souls etc etc. If it was so simple for azeroth to talk to others through tyrande or other NEs she wouldnt need magni etc. I really do not see how it can be the same one elune and azeroth, same origin maybe like both being naaru or so.
Isnt Elune that one eternal one's sister from shadowlands? And aint the eternal ones just robots like how there were a new version of them in the final raid?
I don't think Elune makes much sense to be Azeroth's identity. That would imply that Azeroth would be closely related to the Eternal Ones, which are so much weaker than any Titans. I think it's just how the Harranir view Azeroth specifically akin to Elune I'm guessing.
It makes no sense by the fact alone that if Elune is Azeroth, there wold be a completely different story. Elune might be linked to Azeroth and it not unlikely, that Elune came into existence by corrupting some of Azeroths energy in the Well of Eternity, which seems to be a very corrupting mixture of Azeroth's 'blood' and titan magic. Overall Elune could be a test project of what they want to do with Azeroth, seeing how well it works. Like when you build a small model of a city before starting to work on the actual one.
Elune isnt azeroth. We already know CANNONICALLY that dream is a part of realms of life. And elune resides within it SISTER to winter queen. She isnt azeroth.
Mother Moon is the sister of Azeroth and something else even in Shadowland wee second sister of Azeroth Now we know Azeroth has two sisters Mother clun they call Mother Moon and second one Winter Queen in Shadowland AZEROTH is her self biggest and powerful entity or real titan in the world I think in the end of the world saga we see last titan Azeroth
It's an RTS, RTS never had much story. This RTS still already had: travel between planets with invading forces. Cosmic forces with the whole burning legion thing and their threat to the whole universe. Because it's just an RTS with a very limited story and all, you simply can't experience much of it. You got a very limited point of view via the few maps you play.
No. Elune is not Azeroth. And the Tauren ALSO worship Elune, you seem to have forgotten. Not just the night elves. They just also worship other gods too, and so are not Elunes “favorite”
These Retcons are out of hand first the Titans are the Supreme Enemy's now the Void are actually misunderstood good guys now Elune is Azeroth 🙄 what's next the Legion of Demons are Actually Misunderstood Goodguys spreading Light and Peace and are Azeroth Actual God's to 🤦♂️
So more crap thrown at Shadowlands. How can Elune and Winter Queen be sisters? If Azeroth is Elune, a soul of a world, then how is she related to a literal robot from the land of the dead????
Elune isnt Azeroth. its not make sense. Orweyna calls Azeroth goddes because its godlike power to call someone with whispers which only they can hear. remember old GODs whispers.

Still not sure about panderans being uplifts.
so sargeras impaled elune with his sword 🗡️ 🍑 🌙
What if Elune is the world-soul of Azeroth's moon? Would make sense.
How so?
I don’t think Elune is Azeroth because elune manifested things in legion and shadowlands that came from away from Azeroth and used a different color scheme than the abilities of Azeroth.
did she possibly created the naaru.
Elune is a construct of Azeroth, created to watch over Azeroth as it slumbers after having formed the universe.
I would agree elune is connected to azeroth likely a true ally unlike the titans maybe a sibling or something
Still say Azeroth is a first one. Been saying since they started dropping the first ones name in SL. Would explain why all secondary powerful forces (titans void light and death) want her.
What so CRAZY? If you have read a bunch of WOW fanfictions in past years, there be no surprise at all.
Well if you see Shadowlands as cannon there were some followers of Elune from different planets so I don't think Azeroth is Elune itself
thanks god you're right
We had that back in BC, the Draenei. They follow the Naaru which are beings of Elune's creation though we didn't learn this until Legion.
@@timbert4672 Was that a fact? I remember Velen saying that but he wasn''t sure if that was the case
@@Ermji The quest indicated that she did, but out of interest I asked ChatGPT and it says no. It gave a long answer so I'll type the conclusion:
"While there are thematic connections between Elune and the light, there is no concrete evidence in the lore to support the idea that Elune directly created the Naaru. Instead, the Naaru appear to have been born from the light itself, making them entities that predate most mortal races. Elune, on the other hand, remains en enigmatic figure whose full power and origins are still largely unexplored, despite some recent revelations in Shadowlands.
The idea of a deeper relationship between Elune and the Naaru remains a compelling theory but is not currently backed by explicit lore."
So you are correct there it would seem, it wasn't a fact.
I'm convinced Elune is a daughter of Azeroth.
What brings you to that conclusion?
@@lordhoratio The night elf and tauren myths about the White Lady/Earth Mother and Elune matching up in a way that suggests Elune stems from Azeroth in some manner
More like Azeroth is Azeroth the yellow part, which is shattered and there are crystals all around the world. And then the blue part of the world soul is Elune which has somehow crashed on to Azeroth and this is the War Within?
I believe that the Haranir are the ancestors of the night elves. Created by Eonar to protect nature.
The trolls could be descended from the Worldbreakers and thus be creatures of Aggramar.
not djaradin.
ok I'll bite at your speculations. here's mine. what if there is in fact a holy trinity involved?
If they fail Elune I will be mad
Didn't they do that in Shadowlands already?
Elune is just an artifact of an older era of lore that doesn't fit well in the current direction. Her dipping into so many "cosmic forces" reflects this.
Didnt we have a dialogue between Elune + Winterqueen in ardenweal regarding the night elf sacrifice? where she talked through tyrande about the cascade of souls etc etc. If it was so simple for azeroth to talk to others through tyrande or other NEs she wouldnt need magni etc. I really do not see how it can be the same one elune and azeroth, same origin maybe like both being naaru or so.
I think Elune is the child of Azeroth aka the Earth mother.
I really like Elune but I also play a horde Druid! My goddess >.
Isnt Elune that one eternal one's sister from shadowlands? And aint the eternal ones just robots like how there were a new version of them in the final raid?
Sister in sense of "following of the same faith" not "having the same parents".
Well if she is that doesn't make a ton of sense since she's the moon goddess...
What if we release Beledar from Azeroth and use it to go to the moon (Elune) in the next expac
Isn’t Elune older than the titans? I thought i heard that somewhere in the Chronicles..I probably am wrong.
No. Xal'atath actually calls her an "'upstart goddess" so obviously more a newcomer than anything else.
The mobile wow is handy for auction housing....
Elune isn't Azeroth as they all transformed due to Titan influence.
Tauren think she’s literally a part of Azeroth just like An’she
No, she's not. Elune's Winter Queen's equivalent in the Pantheon of Life - so no.
What if elune is here watch azeroth and to call Titans back if something serious happens
I'm expecting it to be Elune since day 1
So I picked the right race all
The datamine is evidence as to why the interns need to be kept away from the Lore Department.
Damn this makes me just miss the warcraft 2-3 lore. I love cosmic stuff but damn i remember when it was simpler times. Great video as always.
Azeroth is Elune makes absolutely no sense 😂
How could they be the same and Xalatath knows the truth about them both? Doesn't make sense.
Orweyna is replacing magni as azeroth's voice I guess
peeps gonna be talking about her woons now
No. Elune is not Azeroth.
And the Tauren ALSO worship Elune, you seem to have forgotten. Not just the night elves. They just also worship other gods too, and so are not Elunes “favorite”
This is crazy
That would be a bad writing.
Press X to doubt
These Retcons are out of hand first the Titans are the Supreme Enemy's now the Void are actually misunderstood good guys now Elune is Azeroth 🙄 what's next the Legion of Demons are Actually Misunderstood Goodguys spreading Light and Peace and are Azeroth Actual God's to 🤦♂️
Sure, sure, whine on crybaby, it's not like you actually care, you will just keep going make up nonsense so you can cry about it.
This does not mean Elune is Azeroth at all
Another half-baked theory.
Wow dude do you even know your own lore anymore lol
So more crap thrown at Shadowlands.
How can Elune and Winter Queen be sisters? If Azeroth is Elune, a soul of a world, then how is she related to a literal robot from the land of the dead????
Elune isnt Azeroth. its not make sense. Orweyna calls Azeroth goddes because its godlike power to call someone with whispers which only they can hear. remember old GODs whispers.
Warcraft lore us so deluded that nothing is surprising or interesting. It's all repetitive.
This was a miss.
Elune is the first world tree after it was ripped out
Azeroth is Elune’s mother. Azeroth herself is, possibly, one of the First Ones.
This whole game has completely lost the plot with lore.
I'll be unfollowing and just getting info from WoWhead. I no longer will give my attention to any creator who uses AI imagery.
how many more invented inaccurate posts are you gonna throw out? Jesus Christ. More bullshit plots, pyromancer 2.0
thumb down and angry comment coz of title, thanks for potential spoiler, ass

TH-cam Kids exist for a reason, go there if you cant handle the REAL world.
@xentionX i totally agree
Who the f*ck cares? Those exact kids insult each other all day with worse words. How about you don't shelter your kids so they become weak woke idiots when they grow up.
If they just make Elune out to be Azeroth, it would possibly be the laziest and worst writing to come from Blizzard, and that is saying something.
