    Have you considered visiting the French Riviera in winter? We can really recommend it: it's less crowded, the air is beautifully clear, the sun shines a lot... The aristocrats back in the day knew exactly why they would come explicitly in the winter! Let us know what your favorite season is down here in the South of France!

    As a Frenchman I can confirm that the French Riviera is a place to avoid during the summer months... unless you love crowds, noise, traffic jams, scams, entitled tourists and outrageous prices. I've also been there off season, I've loved it but, just looking at pictures of the crowds on beaches this time of year makes me feel like quietly staying in my garden at home though we don't have the southern sun.

      😊 Your description is pretty accurate - we also prefer the cooler, less crowded seasons. But the French Riviera summer also has its own charm: We love the balmy evenings when there’s a bit of fresh air, when there’s life outside in cafes, restaurants, beaches until late… where you can meet people from everywhere… I guess you just have to be aware of how Nice and the other places change throughout the year and then everyone can pick what they like best.

    Thank you so much for creating this video. We were in Nice about 3 weeks ago in your summer and wow we loved it. We all have withdrawals. The weather is so hot. We are thinking of going back in their in our summer and your winter. But I was hesitate as I know it will be about 12 degrees (approx) in Nice in January. But I saw you weren't wearing a lot of winter clothes and jumpers (sweaters). As we only stayed in Nice for 4 nights, our family missed out seeing so much. We want to spend the whole month there. Also I won't miss the busy crowds. By the way, I love your videos, thank you.

      Hi, thanks a lot! You will need warm clothes for when the sun goes down, but between 11 and 3 PM, when the sun is shining, it’s usually enough to wear a sweater. Layers! Be prepared to take off some and put them back on when necessary 😉
      But yeah, it’s a completely different vibe outside of summer - you‘ll like it!

    Recently discovered your channel and love it. I just googled winter in Cote D'azur and your answered all my questions. We live in Canada so this looks like a wonderful winter escape. How is the weather in November? Very dark and windy here.

    • @rivierago
      @rivierago  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Colleen! Yes, the Côte d’Azur is a great winter escape! In November it usually rains some, sometimes heavy and for a week in a row, but then the sun will be back. And temperatures are nice, when the sun’s out during the day you can sit outside with no jacket on. In 20 years we haven’t seen an all grey November here, one of the reasons we’ve escaped Germany 😉. And on the plus side also: it’s not as dark as further north in Europe in winter - while that’s a shame in summer (gets dark at 9, so kind of early), in the winter it doesn’t get dark until 6 or so.

    Thank you for the video! Would you recommend visiting Nice on November or January, regarding weather?

    • @rivierago
      @rivierago  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Tough question!! 😅 We would choose January probably - but you’ll need a bit of luck in winter: right now it’s raining cats and dogs; this often happens for a few days in Nov and February… But it could also happen in Dec or January (even March or April, obviously). It just never stays grey for weeks in a row like further north

      Thanks! Wow, just realised that was one of our early videos 🫣, had to watch it again because I couldn’t remember which beach restaurant we were at 🤣 - and even after watching I’m not sure, sorry! … but honestly: you can pick which ever one is open on the Promenade des Anglais, they don’t differ all that much! There’s only a few that stay open in winter, mostly some of the ones closer to the old town (as opposed to towards the airport).

    I plan to live in Nice or Cannes for a month (nov/dec) - do you have any thoughts on which city to prefer to rent a flat? Cannes vs nice? Thank you!

    • @rivierago
      @rivierago  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, thanks for asking! Anja would say: Nice, Aila prefers Cannes. Both cities are great, Nice is probably more lively in winter, Cannes gets pretty quiet. We’d say you can’t go wrong with either place - maybe decide depending on where you find a better flat!

      @@rivierago Thank you so much for your fast answer 6 month ago!
      I decided to go to Golfe Juan - between Nice and Cannes - in nov + dec 23 - it was awesome :)
      Visiting both cities a few times I would prefer Nice today. But that's just personal taste...

    Is mid February ok to visit?

    • @rivierago
      @rivierago  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes! It might also rain for a few days in February, but most of the time it’s sunny, and temperatures from 11 AM to 4 PM are around 20 degrees Celsius (when there’s sun!).
      So yes, great time, you just need a little bit of luck weather wise.

    What month was this filmed in and what was the temperature?

    • @rivierago
      @rivierago  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi! I think it must have been January. In winter, when the sun is shining, at noon and in the early afternoon temperatures can reach 20 degrees Celsius. At least it’s warm enough to sit outside in the sun. Mornings and evenings are much cooler, of course.

      Yes, absolutely! There may be a few cloudy or even rainy days, but mostly it’s sunny in December. It’s not as warm as other Mediterranean places (Marokko, Tunisia etc) will get, but way warmer than Paris and other Central European places
