I commented on this a year ago during yet another lockdown, not knowing what God had in store for me and my husband. I sadly lost my husband to pancreatic and liver cancer a few months ago so this is even more relevant to me now.
Today David travelled a long way to worship at his childhood church on the outskirts of Plymouth, as "He Had To!" These true words and this superb music together, is helping him through the profound loss of the Plymouth tragedies over the past 3 days. If it can help you through your sadness's too, then there is hope. Amen.
Well I have just come across this, but recognised the name Derek Wilding. My parents brig &Mrs Silvey were at lavenham in the 60s I am Eveline youngest daughter. Derek worked at A.H.Smith wholesale . So did I . I am now living in Wymondham. Norfolk. Beautiful music. Beautiful words. X
Thank you for gifting this beautiful prayer to us all. I have shared this recording in recent days (Covid19) and God has used it powerfully to bring much blessing and encouragement. Thank you
Nick, the words are just beautiful, and just what I need for a service I am preparing for my church. Would you please give me permisssion to use this? Royalene Maynard, The Salvation Army
@@royalenemaynard6532 Just seen this, Royalene. Thank you so much. You're more than welcome to use the words in a service, and I think the Salvation Army are happy for the video to be used similarly. Every good wish. Nick
Hard to find words to express the beauty and richness of this blending of words and tune! A great inspirational to sensitive listeners. Does anyone have the PPT for these words?

Lovely tribute to my father, and yes you are right about his work 🙏
A lovely elegaic tune in a gentle setting. I met the composer today - his brother is one of my colleagues.
Truly beautiful music, beautiful lyrics, beautifully played, and beautifully captured.

Beautiful setting of very moving words. And played so sensitively. Thanks.

Here are the words from the ISB's site:
Prelude on the hymn tune 'Lavenham'

Prelude on the hymn tune 'Lavenham' composed by
Geoffrey Nobes has been a popular piece on tour with the thought
provoking lyrics being displayed on the screens whilst we have presented
this piece of music.
There have been numerous requests for a copy of these lyrics. Here
are the three verses from this hymn that we use with Geoffrey's
arrangement.
We hope and pray that these will be helpful to you.
Lord, there are times when I have to ask, ‘What?’ -
times when your love is not easy to spot.
What is life’s purpose and what of me here?’
Grant me some answers, Lord, make your will clear.
Lord, there are times when I have to ask, ‘How?’ -
times when what’s preached doesn’t square with life now.
Wrestling with doubt I ask, ‘How can this be?’
Grant me some answers, Lord, help me to see.
Lord, there are times when the questions run fast -
times when I fear that my faith may not last.
Help me, support me, Lord, help me get through.
Lead me through darkness till light shines anew.

Wonderful music and lovely words. But it'd be great if there was a piano version of this arrangement rather than just a brass band score.
Would it be possible to use this in my Corps? Just what I need.
Is this on Spotify, if so does anyone have the link?
Can anyone please send me the score😇
