I commented on this a year ago during yet another lockdown, not knowing what God had in store for me and my husband. I sadly lost my husband to pancreatic and liver cancer a few months ago so this is even more relevant to me now.

Proud to say Norman came up Greenford Band Carrolling in Sloane square with Seven of us on a Very cold Saturday Morning in December many years Ago. And he Stood and Played there With us and, As Bandmaster,I was Very Appreciative and Grateful for All his Help. Well I have just come across this, but recognised the name Derek Wilding. My parents brig &Mrs Silvey were at lavenham in the 60s I am Eveline youngest daughter. Derek worked at A.H.Smith wholesale . So did I . I am now living in Wymondham. Norfolk. Beautiful music. Beautiful words. X

A moving tribute

I am so shocked and deeply saddened of the loss of a friend and colleague. From the start of his career in Music Editorial Simon was always thorough, totally reliable and developed a knowledge of the technical aspect of music type setting which was second to none. A straight talker, an excellent musician and a selfless attitude when people asked him for help. A gifted young man with so much more to give, he will be greatly missed. My thoughts and prayers are with Rosie and his family. Sad beyond words. Richard Phillips
