hi! i have a question. i whanted to add this panel to my PC, it has 3pin 5v adresseable header, 3A5V MAX, i was thinking, i have two options. 1) connect 2-3 molex adapters to the power panel leads, and only grnd + data of the motherboard header to the panel or 2 ) data + grd + power of the header to the panel + 2-3 ground + 5v of the molex adapter. Do you think that its safe ?
Is it possible to make your own matrix board? I want to decorate a truck for a light show and I don’t like string lights. Also how many led’s can an esp32 board handle. I’m not familiar with anything so if my terminology is wrong I’m sorry in advance.
Thanks so much for watching and great question! You for sure can make a matrix board! There would be a limit to what one esp board can handle. I have never tried maxing things out but here is some information from the WLED site on that: kno.wled.ge/features/multi-strip/ Also, the newest version of WLED just came out with some sweet matrix animations. I'm hoping to do a video on that soon!
It would be nice to have a "design your own RGBLED pattern" similar to the CCA makers/sponsors. I like the premade forms over individual RGBLED soldering. It makes sense for me to use premade in time and ruggedness. I am working on embedding a cop light on a police bike (red/blue with sequencing). Need it to be all weather, last many hours without a charge and be annoyingly bright.
That's a really good idea! I wonder if a company could come up with a simple interface to be able to customize a build, length, IP rating, power etc. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment!
Thanks so much for watching! Here is the video I made going over how to get the esp device loaded with WLED. WLED is what i'm using to control them: th-cam.com/video/TOEnFKLm9Sw/w-d-xo.html
I have tried 3 ESP32 WROOM 32 and 2 LED matrices. Somehow the matrix won't turn on; all is done as described, with WLED configured and enabled. What is going on?
Hmm, I would first go into led preferences and scroll down and make sure the data pin in the wled program is set for the one you used on the esp board. That's the first thing that comes to mind!
It's the GPIO number in WLED under led preferences. Let me know if that makes sense. I've always used the d2 pin on the esp device for the data line and that number used to be the default that was in the field after flashing. I think though recently the default number after flashing is now different so you probably have to go in and change it to 2 if you also used the d2 pin like I did.
Hi there, this is pretty cool. But I was looking for a way to program static letters and numbers. I want to learn how to program and Arduino to scroll writing left to right, right to left, as well as top and bottom. But more importantly, how to get letters and numbers to snap in and out and fade in/out of each other. For example, a countdown from 10 to 1 fade out and in over each other. Is there a way to do this? Thanks.
Thats a good question! I would assume that they are all pretty much similar but maybe there are some differences. Maybe someone else reading this might know more on that topic and can chime in!
TRy to test SP801E led controller, it can be used as for Matrix and for single lines of rgb lights, Very nice controller But not working with assistants maybe in fuuture updates, But you can attach led matrix set how many pixels you have, or make a line, or even create your own layout, works with ws2812b etc strips and matrix panels, also you can make you own effects, there is a build in app effects which can be mdified and can be written into device mmemory and run without app, you cna create playlists etc, also it has animation tab so you can draw you animation and save it for later, not tlaking about text, plus there is a 3 layers which can be combined toghether, and for some one main feature its support to run like art-net device, so you can you Jinx, resolume arena on it, from PC, sure it will be online but the amount of effects is unlimited, so govee is not capable of doing this. if only govee has like ability to create animations not like prebuild from patterns in which you can only change colors speed etc, it will still stayed the same...
