The fabric snippet roll is perfect for the jeans journal. Love how it turned out and love how trial and error can always resolve in the junk journal world!
You were so right! The fabric snippet roll was so cute on this Jeans Journal. Closers always get me too. I’m so nervous until I have a working closer. Lol. But this is so cute!! Love it. ♥️♥️♥️
Hi! Just wanted to let you know that buttonholes can be challenging so I use existing buttonholes on clothing to make my closures. The jeans jacket buttonholes would have been so cute!
Love these little jean journals, made one after your last video and my 18 year old great niece loved receiving it for her birthday. I lined the inside with fabric that belonged to her great grandmother that she never got to meet. ❤ Loving the new nail polish color :)
The day you start to edit “mistakes” out of your videos is the day you will probably lose viewers. We learn along with you! I appreciate how you let go of perfectionism and find alternative solutions, because there is always an alternative solution. I love these little journals.
If you wanted to use buttons for a closure in the future, you could sew a button on each end an wrap twine in a figure 8 around the two buttons-like an envelope closure. I have a denim cove that I have not used because it was just too plain. Now I know what to do with it! Thanks for the inspiration.
You had me laughing, but I still love it!! How about making a hidden spine when you're ready to sew in signatures? I also wanted to mention that sewing closures, like snaps or buttons, would go well with all the fabric. But I do like the adjustable closure, so it works no matter how chunky the book gets. You've really inspired me to get out my denim! Thanks for another fun video Barbara! ❤
I love how this turned out Barbara! Your collection of mini journals is adorable. ❤ thank you so much for sharing and inspiring. I know what I will be doing tomorrow!!! Baby jean journal! I might have gone with a couple of large snaps for the closure but the tie is very cute.
These little journals are so much fun! I missed the part where you gave the dimensions . Remind me please. The snippet roll looks great..and your chatter and laugh are lovely. Thanks for sharing this idea.
LOL at myself as I never watch a whole tutorial through (nor, for that matter read all the instructions for a recipe- which could explain a few things about my cooking) before beginning and as a result wind up making the same “mistakes” you do! In this case I also sewed all the layers of the cover together before attaching the fabric snippet roll. However, my solution was to sew it on anyway along the front and back covers but add a pocket/tuck spot or belly band of the same width over where the the stitching would show on the inside. I did not sew it along the spine thinking the small gap would still allow me to slip a another piece of fabric under it to glue over the stitching for the signatures.
The reason your magnets didn't work is because you did end up gluing them in the wrong way round, unfortunately! You didn't "turn them around" and they ended up repelling each other, because you were gluing them to the other side of the strip. Actually the idea is very interesting and i hope you won't give up on it for a future project maybe, since it might work quite well!
I love this little journal. I think the reason the magnets didn't work is because you took them off the other magnets and glued them with the side that attracts up, but it should have been glued down because you were putting the wrong side of the fabric where you glued it facing the cover and the magnet needed to stick to the front of the fabric. Not sure if that makes sense.
Hi Barbara! ❤️ i feel very, very inspired! I will try one of my own! And you know, i like when things go wrong in your videos because i was the person who would throw things away... after your videos i don't cause you always fix things in a perfect way! ❤happy saturday!❤
pretty nail polish 😍. Lol I love old jeans for crafting. I was thinking last time it could be part of the closure! Great minds but I was thinking velcro or buttons. Um, those magnets should have managed through that fabric, they're strong enough. Don't think you turned them around🤔. I might test mine out later as I have those and stronger ones. Looks gorgeous as is anyway 😍. Tfs and have a great day 💖💖💖
I was so anxious when you were putting the little magnets on the wrong side XD I'm going to try this kind of cover, I tend to do either very simple or very complicated/loaded covers; this one feels a little in-between and could give a bit more balance to my collection as a whole. With only simple and complex ones, when my journals are on a shelf, the group looks a bit disconnected. I need these in-between covers.
Did you say the measurements of this journal? If not, would you mind letting me know? I love these little journals you’ve made…especially when you use jeans material. Have you ever thought of using a larger lobster/necklace clasp and a ring to hook to? Or sew on snaps? Buckles, ‘D’ rings…I’ve been researching journal closures for months and have many ideas to use without having to make buttonholes. Thank you so much for the lovely videos you make. Have a blessed day.
Thank you for the measurements. Oh my goodness, it looks so much smaller than that. I’ve been “distressing” an old torn pair of my husbands jeans…now I can make my own @49dragonflies inspired journal.
Thank you for reminding me about the idea you gave me some time ago! Going to track down that jeans top and make the binder cover with for Dephemerember. :) Inspiring and fun video! I like the 'chatty' bits too! 😊
Definitely doing this! Started ripping a kids jacket up that has a ruffle out of the jeans fabric. Suggestions for the ruffle?? So so so CUTE! Just ordered some TH fabric from Etsy to make my first snippet roll. Love the wavy stitch you used. Have to go look at NY machine! TFS!!! 😙 and hugs!
I was thinking of hooks 😊 but then I was trying to picture a snippet roll on clothing! 🩷 thanks Barbara. And about those magnets bring them to the front on the left piece. Hope this helps.
I love how spontaneously you work, no fear just do what you love! You inspire me to just do it and not be afraid to make mistakes!
The fabric snippet roll is perfect for the jeans journal. Love how it turned out and love how trial and error can always resolve in the junk journal world!
Love how you “just” try things and most often succeed, you always inspire me not to be scared to do something new. Thank you😊
That’s awesome! ❤️
How not to do it! The best tutorials. This is how all of us do it. Barbara, as I've said before I love you more with each little mishap!
I love those videos where you talk "nonsense" the most! 😂❤
😂😂😂❤️
Love how your cover turned out using the snippet roll. Gorgeous. I love it.

Aaaaw thank you! ☺️❤️
Barbara, I love these little journals! We all make mistakes, and it’s good to see your thought process how to correct things. TFS! ❤
I love seeing mistakes and working through problems. Great job

Beautiful cover❤ great idea to use snippet roll. Looks really boho and so much fun ❤
Such a beautiful cover!!! I love how you persevere. Junk journaling is a lesson in how to come up with a creative solution
Loving those tiny journals. I'm stuck on doing these giant ones. I think the next needs to be one like this.

I love how this turned out Barbara! Your collection of mini journals is adorable. ❤ thank you so much for sharing and inspiring. I know what I will be doing tomorrow!!! Baby jean journal!
I might have gone with a couple of large snaps for the closure but the tie is very cute.
so inspiring
Such a cute little journal. You always make me laugh. Thank you for these fantastic videos! ♥

It’s a lovely cover maybe if you double stack the magnets they will work through tape and fabric?

Fun, fun, fun!
Thanks so much for this video..... I created a large snippet for my art journal
I like the tie closure you ended up with the best. It leaves more room for the journal to expand. What a beautiful cover!
So fun and inspiring!
Love this Brenda. Decide to try. I am fairly new to JJ. So happy with how it turned out

Too bad the magnets didnt work out 🙈 love the clean look of it. The cover is SUPER cute in any case, curious what u will put in 😊

I love this cute little journal sweetie ❤
So enjoyable, I love the cover, great job💕🇨🇦
Gorgeous 🤩🤩🤩
Great project! Thank you
Love every tutorial of yours. Would Velcro work?
Thanks! It probably would but I’m not a fan of Velcro….
Triplets!
Ist das eine schöne Idee, das ist wirklich wunderschön geworden und das werde ich sicher irgendwann mal ausprobieren 😍
oh, I just love it xx

Not NY - - "my" sewing machine. I only use zigzag and straight stitch.
I feel like the ruffle might be a bit much for such a small journal, but hard to say without seeing it…
@@49dragonflieshi Barbara, just wondering if the ruffle could be sewn to the bottom of the snippet roll or used as a tie closure.
@@judylarson6719 I guess it could. You will need to audition it 😃
Love it! But what about snaps instead of magnets? Just a thought. You inspired me none the less… Magnets shmagnets!!!
😃 thank you! ❤️
I was thinking of hooks 😊 but then I was trying to picture a snippet roll on clothing! 🩷 thanks Barbara. And about those magnets bring them to the front on the left piece. Hope this helps.
would velcro dots work as a closure?
I think they would. I’m just not a big fan.

❤❤❤
😍😍😍
How long is your fabric snipet roll? It’s fabulous!
Thanks. Not sure how long, maybe half a meter after using the piece for the cover.
