She was the first Miss Botswana ever at the Miss Universe pageant so for her too win was a huge deal. You could tell she was there enjoying every moment and had she not won she still would have been so happy to have had the experience. To win was just beyond belief for her and her shock is evident. She's gone on to be an outstanding representative of her country and the Miss Universe organization and has used her celebrity to advance causes she believes in. Go to her wiki page; she's sat on panels with Bill Gates and former President Bill Clinton. An amazing woman all around.

It's Trinidad 77,Angola 11 & Trinidad 98 it's sad that more black women haven't won & should've won the crown and I'm not black. Aruba was robbed twice 74 was one of the most beautiful contestants ever and should've won & 96 was another stunner, Bermuda 79 a Stunner but she did win Miss world Zaire 85 & Hati 75 & 17 were the clear winners sad how all minorities in beauty pageants are passed over. Look them all up I'd love to know what anyone reading this thinks

Jannelle Penny Comissiong was the first black woman to win the title. She represented Trinidad & Tobago in 1977 and to this day, she's still has one of the most gorgeous faces among those women.
