The PERFECT contrast between the laughs in the beginning and the fact that you can LITTERALLY HEAR A PERSON PUTTING DOWN A FORK at 2:31 says it all.
Learning that the little mermaid is Andersen's love letter to Edvard Collin make this song even more painful. I LOVE this rendition!! ❤️

@@jrdmgl6190Andersen actually did write a letter to Edvard -- several, actually. It wasn't until Edvard's rejection that Andersen conjured the Little Mermaid from his broken heart, hence the tragic ending
He actually sang very casually to entertain guests in the pub like other days. But it turned out to be the masterpiece. So theatrical... very entertaining. Two thumbs up!
I don't know why people are laughing at the beginning. There is nothing to laugh for, I see a FANTASTIC performance, a fantastic singer singing a fantastic song. I really loved it! Only love and respect. ❤️
I would think they laughed since it was unexpected so it's a natural reaction. I wouldn't think they are laughing AT him.
It’s normal nothing against him ,sometimes it’s hard to express with emotions how amazed you are when seeing a talent like this one and the body responses is with laughter cuz of nervousness.

I think that’s part of the beauty of the song. It starts almost silly, and evolves into beautiful longing… he totally uses that to his advantage and has the audience in his hands :)

That last part is where the live action Ariel failed really, when they hold that long note "Love to explore that shore up above...." where the song becomes emotional, like they're shouting to a very distant place, they think they can never be.
