    This is something I really appreciate about you Shawn. You value the history of rides. Many people in there 20s today don’t value the history and would complain that it is not as intense as coasters today. Leap the Dips is much more fun that people would think. Those dips give some good pops of air. There is a big difference between the front and the back. In the back, you get much more airtime, but when you come down, you come down hard and it hurts your lower back and tailbone.

    I love how you always give an honest and unbiased opinion of the parks and the rides , regardless of if the park has given you free admission 🎫.
    I hope it always stays that way.
    Great vlog 👍

    I don't remember visiting the Melbourne Luna Park when I was in Australia in 1960...so this is a real treat to compare it with Sydney's Luna Park which I loved seeing again in your last vlog...thank you Shawn and Charlotte...

    Excellent off-ride video from around Luna Park Melbourne! In this vlog, we experience the second-oldest operating roller coaster in the world. The Great Scenic Railway opened at Luna Park in 1912 and is still operating to this day! Along with sharing our thoughts on this historic ride, we also check out the variety of other attractions on offer at the park. This includes a fantastic Ghost Train and a variety of different flat rides! keep the good videos coming Shawn and Charlotte, on the channel, I can't wait to see the next video on the channel. 😀

    The dodgems and arcade are normally within the Palace which are getting renovated.
    The old ‘train carriage’ is actually a ‘W class’ tram that operated around Melbourne’s extensive tramway network. You can still ride on these trams on the ‘City Circle’ route which is a great way for tourists to see the CBD highlights.
    Certainly a great selection of flat rides these days, but the park is very much missing the ‘Mad Mouse’ which was a major highlight previously

    There was a 2nd roller coaster at Luna Park called the Big Dipper. It was demolished in 1989. I still remember my brother riding the Scenic Railway first, which of course has the brakeman, and then riding the Big Dipper, which didn't have a brakeman, and as the ride started he screamed out where's the driver.

    Well this certainly brought back some memories from the late 80s and early 90s when I lived in Melbourne as a kid. I swear the scenic railway use to go quicker around those flat sections, and that ghost train use to terrify me but I couldn't stop going on it haha. The amount of times that I had to wait to go on the spider because they had to clean out a carriage due to someone being sick was beyond count haha

    Wow! Seeing the Enterprise ride at Luna Park brings back so many memories for me. They had one at Margate when the park was called Bembom brothers before it become Dreamland. It was one of my favourite rides and parks. My faves in the park were the Looping Star, The Mary Rose and this classic, the Enterprise! Love seeing this today in the vlog!!!!

    You could start a postcard collection of where you have been, or if you have one already decorate a wall in your theme park museum with them. Especially enjoying the original old rides and artworks. I am being reminded of the old wooden Margate Dreamland coaster.

    Shawn and Charlotte,
    I saw a POV of the Great Scenic and it's real quite genteel by today's standards,
    but it's historic and fun and those dips at the end we so nice:)
    If you were dieting Charlotte, you quite overdid it:)
    I don't get why they didn't let you film, there a POV from Luna on TH-cam????
    Not letting you film on the Ferris Wheel seems "over the top". pun intended.!
    That Carousel is similar to the one we had at Seaside Park in New Jersey before the hurricane:( so sad, we used to take our daughter to it.
    Shawn, you and Charlotte are always so positive, but I don't have to be in the vlog.
    I think that there is always room for photos, especially on these milder rides, what were they thinking??,
    Cheers,
    Rik

    I'm much less likely to visit a park I haven't been to before if they don't allow on-ride filming, at least with safe and secure GoPro / action-cam equipment. Instead of a "no video" blanket policy, parks could come up with some sort of system where they inspect your equipment and issue some sort of wristband or something, or provide a list of pre-approved equipment.

    Nice to see you get to tick off such a historic coaster, not many will get that chance , it's been great watching you both in Aussie and I loved your upgrade on the car , what luck 😁, I have to admit to not knowing much more than the usual Australian publicised things about aussie but it's been so great to see so many things not normally publicised to the rest of the world , like Luna park , that banana roadside attraction place and many more we wouldnt normally get to know about , I'm loving it , I will say Australia seems alot cleaner than England and they seem to look after their parks really well , everything looks in such great condition and well cared for as well as kept clean. Poor Australia is so far away they almost get left out of the rest of the world so it's been such a pleasure to get all these videos of your trip showing us what the rest of the world is missing. Everything including accommodation for you both looks to have been fantastic so far , so glad your both having an awesome trip 👍😊

  • @djdazwillott808
    @djdazwillott808 ปีที่แล้ว

    They really do look after their rides. The Enterprise looks new, and it's awesome how they allow fof it to be run the way it should be run, also pharaoh’s curse, looks still running smoth, not sure if there are many of them rides here left in the uk. Btw am sure the old train carriage is one of the original trams, from the tram system.
    Perth will be a lot warmer. it's called the sleepy city of Australia. It's so chilled there,everything is in slow motion, all the public transport is so good, if your lucky and get to the occean beach front you can some times see dolphins 🐬 in the occean near the shore. Have a good time both of you 🙂

    The old exterior reminds me of "Playland by the beach" in San Francisco in the old days. Too bad they had to close it a long time ago, but I guess they couldn't keep it up properly, because it was right at the beach with the salty winds. One of the attractions is still "alive", "Laughing Sally" that is still at a museum "Musée Mechanique" at Fishermans Wharf. That Sally creeped kids out! 😫

    • @Josh_Stuchbery
      @Josh_Stuchbery ปีที่แล้ว

      There where plans to bring over the Demon, which was a Vekoma boomerang, down from Sydney when Wonderland shut. Sadly management at the time decided that a modern, steel coaster wouldn't fit the vintage feel of the park. Unfortunately this place has a reputation for being quite stuck in the past, and not in a good way.

    Leap the Dips, although it is still operated/maintained today, it was SBNO for a significant period in the late 20th century, so Scenic Railway has operated for 111 straight through, where Leap the Dips has operated for about the same amount of seasons or slightly less. I don't remember the full story off the top of my head though so I don't have the math

    Loved the short video, really enjoyed and can't wait for more in future. Shame you can't again film on the rides, coasters and attractions, find it a bit stupid & joke how you cannot film. At least via using a Go Pro via Chest mount, Arm Mount or Head Mount as again thats what those cameras are designed for. Becoming a common ban on rides now, find it ridiculous especially when it comes to free promotions for the parks especially like what was said when giving guests & visitors ideas of what rides, coasters and all attractions are like inside or onboard. Hope this is something one day is scrapped and again filming is allowed, but honestly don't really see this happening at the moment. Nice to see another Scenic Railway, have seen this before on other videos. But good to see you both there, giving reviews and sharing your experience in Australia. Cheers again, cheers for off ride shots and about admission, about how you pay for entry, but you only get one entry & have to stay inside park and can't return back in once going out, find that a joke aswell. Got bad rules here, think that is something they must improve on especially if they would like to keep park open & in business. But yeah, nice vlog, really enjoyed and look forward in future for more. 😀👍

    It looks like one of the busiest parks on this trip so far, but perhaps that's because it's so small. Perhaps because it's so small, maybe there should be a capacity limit so the wait-times aren't as long. It would be hard to say which would be the better formula for this park :- (1) free entry and pay-per ride OR wristband, or (2) the way they're operating now, everyone pays entry/wristband.

    It use to be free to enter but a number of years ago they decided to charge because of anti social behaviour, people would just wander in not intending to ride but intending to stir up trouble. I thought it was $2 to get in but they must of changed it to wrist bands , I have not been down there in a long time.
