CB1000R Yoshimura vs Akrapovic

  • I had to pick up a different exhaust because I kept scraping the Yoshi (both the link pipe and the slip-on, picture at the end of the video) in the twisties. It was still working fine but I just can't relax and enjoy the ride when I'm worrying I might destroy my exhaust in a turn... I did see discoloration start to occur around the scrape but nothing major.
    Overall, I know I'll miss it, I quite liked the sound of the Yoshi but it just sits too low for my style of riding. It was never an issue commuting or even light canyon riding but if you hit the corners at speed and lean the bike, you'll end up scraping it. The next big mod I'll be saving up for is a new collector pipe because I've also be scraping my headers on the left side of the bike.:/ I ride the CB like it's a CBR, I guess..
    The Akrapovic is a simpler system that sits higher and though the slip-on is longer, it's actually lighter. The link pipe is also much lighter than Yoshi's S-shaped link pipe, so I'm not complaining -- less weight = more power.
    The sound is deeper, though also quieter than the Yoshi. I don't dislike it but I'm not that impressed, considering how stupid expensive it is. Let's hope the hype is true and Akra does help performance at least to the same extend the Yoshi did.
    A while back, while repacking the Yoshi I did a quick comparison to straight pipe, check it out here: • CB1000R straight pipe ...

    They honestly sound so similar, is it really worth the difference in price? They both have a solid build quality, look great, sound great... Yoshimura ftw

    Great video comparison. Mine has the full Titanium Akra system with de-cat. It’s one of the best sounds on a bike I’ve ever heard and as I used to track mine, like you’ve already stated, the ground clearance on the Akra is superior making it better suited to the track environment than the Yoshi. Also, the DB killer goes in or out on the Akra in seconds. Mine stays out although sometimes I think it’s too much. If I fed go on a long journey, I fit the DB killer back in. Like someone else mentioned, quality. Quality of the Akra is faultless and it was in fact offered as an option on the CB1000R from Honda themselves. To my eyes it also looks better for the bike than the Yoshi, but thats just my opinion.

    Yoshi seems to have to sound beat. Nice and deep. I like that you compared to an open pipe, just in case there's a few out there who are considering it as an option, haha.

    Don't have anything bad to say about Yoshi. Great company and they make a great pipe, but Akra is a better, higher quality product. Period

    I have a Yoshi R-77D on my 2015 Kawasaki H2 and it looks and sounds awesome I think the carbon has a better look than Akra. With Yoshi you can see the weave and it has a cleaner look. Akra has a weird finish in their carbon fiber products you cant see the pattern clearly like you should in any carbon fiber products.

    My 2017 hayabusa z limited edition came with a yoshi. I see a lot of riders with akra installs on their bikes. I'm starting to think, it's more of a statement rather than an upgrade on a yoshi.

    Hi! Nice vid and bike. I thinking about buying a CB1000R. What exhaust do you suggest, i planing do drive without db-killer and i would like it to be loud and deep. Is it Yoshi I should go with then? Is both big different to stock sound? Haven´t heard anyone of them irl... Can´t however believe how Akra can be about 600dollar more here in Sweden.

    Do you think the R-55 would have more clearence? It is similarly shaped like the oem exhaust muffler.. Have you tired this exhaust or looked into it? Thanks.

    Nice, I guess the yoshi is out of the question for me then, I do like the look of the Bodis GPX2. Also what's with that huge windscreen lol

    • @SuperVulgarian
      @SuperVulgarian  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      I do long stretches + speedy stretches, so the screen is a necessity. This particular one is the only one that attaches directly to the handlebars, which I need because my steering damper is mounted to the handlebar bracket. :/

    • @HollidayRides
      @HollidayRides 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ah, How long do you ride for at a time?

    • @SuperVulgarian
      @SuperVulgarian  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Holliday Rides My commute average is 30-40 minutes in one direction, but I do a 2-hour ride (one direction) weekly at speeds of about 80-85mph, sometimes twice that if I turn around the same day. So without the screen all the wind is on my chest which makes me feel fatigued 30 minutes into the ride.

    • @HollidayRides
      @HollidayRides 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      :D Be glad you do not have an autobahn haha

    • @SuperVulgarian
      @SuperVulgarian  10 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Holliday Rides I wish we had one, actually! At least on the autobahn people know the left lane is the passing lane! Here you'll often see someone going below the speed limit in the left lane and not move over at all... they don't even realize they're being a dick, nor do they care. I'd probably care less if this is what I grew up with but I grew up in Europe, so this type of driving and selfishness baffles my mind.
