This Meguiar's employee is genuinely great at his job. Not many manufacturers have guys this knowledgeable that can logically and calmly explain the benefits/perceptions of his product with this much passion and fact based information to back it up. Others should take notes.
That guy needs a raise for being one of the most knowledgeable employees of any company discussing a product that I have ever seen. He is able to passionately and clearly articulate every aspect of this product and I applaud him for that. I think this product has the potential to be great HOWEVER I honestly and truly think that Meguiars should quickly change the label or add a big fat sticker with a TH-cam URL to a video demonstrating how to properly apply and use this product in subsequent washes. For the front label to say "spray on, rinse off & dry" it's missing the *after proper initial application which is a bit more involved, lol. yes there are directions on the back but I have to figure most people won't read them. The name is also horribly obnoxious but I digress.

I’m glad you went to Meguiars and made this video! The product works great plain and simple. Glad you touched on the SDS as well. I like how he said we aren’t going to put our entire recipe out there to make one person happy. That was a straight jab at Scott DPC! I do believe they have been working on this for years and it shows at how well it works. Been on my truck by itself for 5 weeks and still holding up strong.
I too get this often. "Matt, you've changed." Most of the time people only refer to that in a negative context. I've found that growing and adapting is the real purpose of life, so I generally believe them when they say that I have. I just don't believe that we always change for the worse. In my case, I've morphed from doing videos as therapy to them now supporting my life and business. For Scott, he may have painted himself into a corner by railing against branding and quality. Now as attempts to make a transition from ranting to business it would be difficult to sell stuff without margin. Eventually making videos for fun can move toward enrolling people into some sort of relationship. When you chase cheap, there is no room left for business.
Obsessed Garage I agree change is part of being human! I understand why Scott would try and market his stuff and that’s completely fine but he was totally off base with the Meguairs bashing. I’ve never heard you do anything like that and don’t think I ever will.
I think where Scott might be failing is that he seems to have an agenda. I don't know him other than a few friendly exchanges, but seeing videos like that feel very contrived. It's as if he is doing it on purpose with a goal in mind rather than just doing him. Making videos like that garner attention, and it seems that may be the goal. Eventually people turn on you when they sniff out an agenda.
Great video series Matt, really appreciate you heading out to these sites and showcasing what we just don't have regular access to. A lot of great information from Markus here that clarifies the product. Water activated vs. water applicated is a good topic at 16:20. You can definitely see this with HCW if you spray it on and wipe it in dry, you'll notice it takes some decent time with the pressure washer to fully blast all these residuals from the surface and as you rinse you'll see the hydrophobics slowly get better and better until they're fully blasted off the paint. It's another caution against dumping too much of this on at one time, I notice it does take a heavier rinse before HCW shows peak performance on a full dry application or if spraying way too much prior to the rinse. I did mistake this for water activation because of this concept. 19:40, good highlights on the topic of surface condition impacting product performance. 25:40, definitive response regarding siO2 content from Meguiar's. 31:50, torture tests in the short term, and how do these results translate to real world durability? I've seen durable products (including various coatings) do very poorly in the short term degreaser tests that holds no relevance to its long term performance if the user never intends to use that specific cleaner in their maintenance regiment. The short term chemical test is an interesting footnote on product performance when a product shows resistance compared to another, but users should not necessarily translate these results on products that fail this short term test to its long term performance. For those that pre-rinse areas on the paint with an APC or degreaser prior to washing that are concerned about this damaging their LSP, this is when this test would be much more relevant. 33:08, nice tidbit altogether about how relevant is durability when we're topping the paint with products after every wash. It's difficult for me to run pure durability tests with waxes and sealants knowing fully well there's no way I would ever allow these to run on a personal car without some form of topper applied on a regular basis after routine washes. The only purpose of this would be to purely show that product A has "outperformed" product B in surface tension durability when applied at the same time during the same conditions. This is generally why most of my showcases are short term related, because I purchase products with the intent to maintain it in in the short term in some fashion, and I have a preference for how I want the product to perform until I next maintain it. If durability truly is my focus, a coating is what I would be applying. I wasn't expecting myself to enjoy HCW as much as I do now when I first heard of its anticipated release on the forums. But they've made it stand out in a very crowded market with properties that are very competitive across the board in the OTC/enthusiast/professional markets, and it's just fun to work with.
Thanks for chiming in @waxmode Love your videos BTW, I think you have done the best job of demonstrating and understanding how the product functions out of everyone, and you nailed it in the first couple of weeks it was out. The chemists and I enjoyed your videos and shared them internally. Keep up the good work!
I’m glad to see this video, I think everyone who has been bashing Meguiars for this product needs to see this video. Will definitely be sharing this around.
Which makes sense to me... Especially like he said, they've already experienced companies in the past stealing their formula from products and copying it. Also as he mentioned they wouldn't be in business for 118 years lying about what's in their products. Very impressive and professional. Kudos to Matt for making this series of videos...
@Prestige Mobile Auto Detailing Scott never said to include all ingredients used in the product, it was strictly to identify how much SiO2 by % is in the product as per the MSDS. Period!
@@seang3538 you clearly don't realize why he even started this Nonsense, - he called the product a joke and says it doesnt work, yet NEVER did he even try it on video. - he claimed to have went through 3 bottles and said it didnt work off camera(yeah right) -He`s quick to always show how HIS products work but not the meguairs one - Apex detail and wax mode has both proven that HCW was on par with DPC armour, so for something that has no "Sio2" in it vs scotts 10% sio2 says alot - Wheres the SDS for his product? oh he`ll never show it because it would ruin his manipulation tactic to sell his stupid products while bashing a company and a product that poses a threat to his sales(DPC armor is like 25$+ with shipping for 16 ounces vs HCW that's like 15 bucks, 10$ at Walmart.) I`d wish people would have a mind of their own and do research to formulate their own opinion on topics like this, instead of hanging off the word of a guy who`s been a professional(car washer) detailer (no offense to other detailers)for 30 years and thinks he knows everything about his industry but does the same exact marketing tactics that he chastises his industry for doing, don't believe me? look up jieux microfiber then look at his towels PRIVATE LABELING at its finest.
Percentage of SiO2 is completely irrelevant. If it mattered, why wouldn't be just make it 100%? Another thing to clarify, unless you are the original chemical producer, you don't have a clue from what these products are made. Here is how this works. You have chemical manufacturers that take raw materials and create ingredients. Then you have blenders that buy these premixed ingredients and combine them. Most often the blender doesn't know much about make-up of the individual ingredients they just know how much to combine. The companies that make the stuff don't know all of the details, so some dude in his garage doesn't have a clue. I have my own soap and have a massive understanding of all things detailing, and I have no idea what is in it. Comparing anything with an SDS sheet is ridiculous.
I think this gentleman is absolutely the voice of product!! I learned more in these 40mins than I have in 6-12 months!! Very easy to listen to and understand without even a PHD in nanotechnology!! Thanka
At least matt went to Meguairs & had an intelligent conversation about the product, UNLIKE DPC who makes 2 videos saying the product sucks, refuses to actually use it in said videos but instead pulls the "MSDS sheet" argument just to push his own STUPID products to his sheep fans, while bashing Meguairs. Thank you matt for actually having the courage to do this and not be a COWARD like Scott. 27:11, I forgot his name but thank you this needed to be said.
I saw that video too and just shook my head, then thought whatever at that video...lol...I really love the concept of this product (if water isn't sheeting/beading off your vehicle as normal, then give it a maintenance touch-up. Nobody knows how long this product will last in their environment; but at least it's super easy and cheap to apply, you're not even using a quarter of the bottle for the initial application), otherwise despite the demands for this product; Meguiars has really done a good job keeping their prices generous...
Great video! Touched on all the points I wanted to hear. Seen so many haters of this product, but you can’t deny results, ease of use, and price. I let the results speak for itself. Excellent product.
37 minutes he sums it up well for what it is. It's their most advanced spray on sealant that's easy to use. I totally agree. As a detailer I don't have much time to spend doing friends and neighbors vehicles but especially on one of our neighbors that I corrected their car and who I will occasionally wash it for her after work once a month or so this product is great. Her car was done initially with a great All in One product and now whenever I wash it, I simply a layer of HCW using the wet method wiping it on thoroughly and then rinsing it off.
I think this video really highlights in extreme detail the amount of real science and hard work that goes into meguiars R&D. I think it’s easy for “this industry” to get carried away with the latest exotic expensive sealant/wax and have all these professional VBloggers rave about shine, slickness and hydrophobic properties. From one user to the next they all begin to sound like broken records.
Thank you so much for this series. I love Meguiar's products and their customer service has always been helpful with my own questions. I respect the brand.
This is great, the host did a fantastic job in asking questions the consumer would and the expert kept his cool and explained in easy to understand detail every angle of those doubts. Awesome content.
Thanks Markus & Matt for your efforts. Clarity is good in such a competitive product market. ps: if you’ve any experience with Meguiar’s culture and products, the ‘Wax’ terminology has been consistent throughout.
Just used this product for the first time this weekend. And I was actually really impressed with the results. It even made the black plastic trim on my older bmw darker.
He's def the face I've never seen among the big brands' representatives.. BUT watching the video under 10 mins, and you can tell HE KNOWS HIS SHIT. TRULY KNOWLEDGABLE GUY.
Great video and explanation. I think the Si02/Ceramic term is what had gotten everyone's nose out of joint. I've used it since it came out and it has really impressed me and has done a great job. It is what it is, and it isn't what it isn't. Forget the Ceramic term and just try the product. For $15 you won't be disappointed. I was most impressed with it's longevity through a month of winter conditions.
@@gammalight1312 Maybe too much product? I know when you first apply it, if it is on there really thick it will look like that. Should 100% go clear when you wipe away the excess, though.
@@MarkusKleis well so here's the deal. I watched a few videos on how people applied it and that might've been my problem. I followed their instructions and only referenced the bottles simple directions. I applied it conservatively to a wet car at night, pressure washed it off, then wiped it dry. I didn't go too crazy buffing it off because I had just polished the car. It's still there after 2 months, a ton of weather and regular travel on dirt roads. It turned clear after a few washes later but at first it did look to dull the shine. I think everything was right except I didn't buff it off enough. Apparently dry didn't mean finished. It does smell like blueberries, so I hope no one judges me for possibly using too much..
@@gammalight1312 Sorry I missed replying this one for a while, glad you got it figured out! I think once people give this stuff a fair shake and dial in the process, it's hard NOT to love it :)
I haven’t watched all the episodes in this series, but I love how you actually go to these manufacturers and get the information from the mouth of the source, compared to other people who just talk opinion on these products. Your format is one of the best. Keep up the great vids Matt.
I'm not sure how I've stumbled across this video two years later, but I can safely say this product is the real deal. Being able to spray this on a vehicle after a wash and rinse it off and have months of protection is fantastic. If you properly apply when you are using it as a base, it will last 4-6 months in rough conditions. Scott HD's channel shows results of many of these sprays. Megs hybrid ceramic tested very well, but I find the reapplication is so simple it is hard to beat. This and Griots 3n1 are my favorite sio2 sprays currently. Griots 3n1 could almost stand with the big dogs like Ceramic Sport. Thanks for the video.
I am completely wowed by this video... truly amazing and really shoutout to this Meguiar's employee for knowing his product so well and not only that, but for also just being so honest as far as using the product. The fact that he says things like less is more and apply it sparingly tells me he and the company care more about customer satisfaction than trying to jam sales down peoples throats. Just for that, I would choose meg's for most things and not just this product and thats what companies have to understand. They seem to get it. I was sold on meg's even before this video but I have a bottle of this hybrid wax on order right now for the first time. Other than that most of the product I use is by them. I use megs and chemical guys mostly. Awesome video and thank you for this
This was a fascinating conversation, thank you for putting this video up. This made a lot of sense. At the end of the day, for a DIYer like me, "does it work or not, is it safe to use, is it reasonably easy to apply?" seems to be the only important questions. Me, I am a total rookie (about two months since I've even heard of "ceramic" or "sealant" or "coating") and the first product I bought was this Meguiar's HCW... and it immediately made my 30 year old, daily driver, no garage Town Car look better - and that was before I learned how to properly prepare the vehicle and all that so it was after just a bucket wash. I put it on too heavy and it streaked (I haven't fixed them yet - two months later the streaks are actually still as heavy as they were in the beginning), but I've learned better technique on my other cars (I'm lucky I have a bunch of low-value cars) - I want to wait another month or two to see if the streaks eventually disappear. Side note, what works best for me is to completely dry the car, and then moist towel the area I'm spraying and then dry it off after a spray. I rarely have to use more than two sprays per panel, most side panels are less than a full pump. I'm really happy with it, but I'm also curious about other products so I'll be trying others just to see, but right now this product is my Ace. Again, I really appreciate these kinds of videos as I go down this rabbit hole that has enacted one of my cleanliness OCDs hahaha.
I’m glad you guys went over the details of this product because I was a little confused as to why they named it what they did. People make things too complicated, try it ! If you want it to last use it every wash or every other wash. If you don’t like it , buy something else.
Wawo it’s my first time on your channel I am blown away by the amount of information and the way it’s explained in this video I will definitely subscribe I would love to see more videos like that
Awesome video.. I like this product before, now I like it even more. I WAS the guy using the product incorrectly by using most of the bottle on 1 vehicle. Now I know I'm going to really like it much more since I have a better understanding of how to apply it..Thanks again for this video..
I’ve used a bottle of this product last summer on my car. I was happy with it. People asked me on several occasions if my car was coated. The product also smells really good.
It's been pretty windy lately where I live. After driving my black car around for a day, I would notice a layer of dust on the paint. After rinseless washing my car and using this product as a drying aid, I would notice far less dust and the paint being more slick.
Regarding the topic of having wax in the name of a product that doesn't actually have any "wax" or carnauba in it, I remember watching an Adams Polishes video where Adam mentions that their "Wash & Wax" soap also doesn't have any wax in it and it actually contains SiO2 instead. What's interesting is that they don't mention that anywhere in the label or in the product description online.
This is a great product! It works so good! I use it different. I’ll put this on after I wash and dry. Then put it on the dry panel. To me, it seems to work a lot better. The only thing I wish they would do IS CHANGE THE BOTTLE!! Time to catch up on the bottles.
thomkirby meguiarsonline forums is a much better treasure trove of factual information than social media and the “collective” of non experts on forums.
Ceramic coatings!! The new wax! Last a year or more...of course that’s if you “properly maintain” it with bi weekly additional ceramic products, which can’t be applied before washing your car with complimentary soaps and drying with certain towels for the glass, paint, plastic, metal, poop. Then wipe the car down with a spray on drying aid to boost shine and hydrophobic properties. Don’t forget the tire cleaner, wheel cleaner, ironX, caliper cleaner, lugnut cleaner, tire products rinser of course none of which can be applied without a $100 foaming sprayer. 67 step process to remove break dust. The auto detailing business is the largest scam industry out there. 1000s of products 97% of which we could all do without and never skip a beat. Good stuff
Meguires Hybrid ceramic wax gets a thumbs up from me. It's worked really well for me and found my car stays clean longer as I dont get dirty rain marks.
Hi just to make sure I understand what he was saying for protection and a durability over my paint I am better off using the Maguires ceramic instead of the Maguires Wax?
I used this product today for the first time, easy to use was foolproof for someone like me who wouldn’t have much of a clue, about detailing was very happy with results, this will be staying in the Car cleaning kit...
Been waiting for this video since the Meguiar's series started. Very interesting product... (remember not everyone watching this channel is a prosumer)
Beads imo are overrated. With sheeting the water runs off the paint in sheets leaving a drier surface. Beads sit on the paint and can lead to spots. Pans vid with Yvan demonstrating opti pro + was amazing. The panels were literally dry after the water sheeted off.
Great product to top ceramic coated vehicles with. I understand that if I'm using it, it's not a ceramic coating. More of a ceramic conditioner for ceramic coated vehicles.
I’m pretty new to the whole detailing scene. So would this be a pretty solid process to do for my car? 1. Main/thorough wash. 2. Iron Decon. 3. Clay. 4. Wax. 5. Beadmaker? And then just wash and beadmaker until it’s time to wax again?
Yeah that's pretty much right. You may want to polish after claying and wash again, but that's up to you. As for beadmaker, maybe use it every 2nd wash if you wash often.
Andrew Thanks! I considered adding polishing as a step, but I figured since it is a white car and the paint is in pretty good condition as is, I’d rather save the money and time after watching how technical that process can get. I appreciate the reply!
qwerty qwerty I’d recommend you still polish the car, even if it looks great. Claying doesn’t remove oxidation and other contamination that prevents optimal bonding. You can even just polish the car by hand to “clean up” the paint.
Because in North America, the retail consumers think that beading means protection. But many of the coatings sheet water rather than bead water, and retail consumers in North America may not understand the benefits of sheeting and be unable to adapt to the characteristics of coating products.
When we originally developed our first coating (M188), it was in response to a special request in Asia and was built specifically for local preferences. The current version, now M688, is sold everywhere but the US due to the fact that it was also built as a special request. At the time they were designed, it just wasn't part of our go to market strategy. Time will tell if that ever changes.
@@MarkusKleis Speaking of M688, not sure if you remember this, but back in the days there was an eBay listing for a ton of M16 and everybody on MOL scored a couple tins lol
The ceramic spray on products made by Meguiar's are generally very good and people have no problem with it. It is a controversial product not because of its performance, price, or usability. People have problems with this product because Meguiar's use the words ceramic or SiO2 to advertise them.
I’ve already purchased it and have applied it to my 2019 Tundra. Been using Mequiar’s products for 30 years and when they came out with it, I didn’t care what the bashers had to say, I trusted what they produced and what they said it would do. I like the idea of using as a drying agent. My $14 dollar bottle feels slicker than my neighbors $2300 coating and if I go thru 3 - 4 bottles in a couple years, I’m still better off and way way cheaper.
As a detailer I will say anyone paying $2,300 for a coating is dumb. Send them to me as I'd love to charge that much if I could sleep at night doing it. That said, don't let slickness form a judgement around effectiveness of a product. This product is fine but it's not compatible in any way to an actual ceramic coating.
I wish this product was available over 15 years ago when I have a detail shop. It's great for a spiff job. I am using it on my vehicle and boats. Good product.
Thank you so much for all you do, I watched all the Meguir's videos and also for talking about the new Hybrid spray wax like you said there's so much controversy about it and then there are the haters on it now maybe we can get them all to shut up I guess it's easier to bash something you don't know about or understand then to find how it's supposed to be used or how it works. Thanks again Matt take care always.
I appreciate this, especially amongst these weekend warriors who are doing chemical testing and saying the product is gone off the panel etc. I’m by no means an expert or weekend warrior. However I do like to protect my vehicle
How do you remove this particular product from the surface once applied? I used a little too much upon initial application and there is a purple stain just under the license plate that Ajax won't take off. I often switch between products as a lot of other do so I would think removal would be a pretty important topic. Would a simple IPA wash remove all the product? Thanks
If they told you the quantity of SiO2 content in the solution, what would that tell you? The answer is that it would tell you nothing. You would need a frame of reference and have an intimate understanding of the other carriers, surfactants, and detergents. It's like asking what the contrast ration of a display is. That means very little without testing parameters.
@@ObsessedGarage that was a thoughtful reply however, Who is this one person you had to please? Also, I'll play "stupid" so bare with me... So what makes this "ceramic". What things make "ceramic" technology and what does HCW have in it that satisfies your definition?
By the way thank you for doing this video!. It's a neat product to use but I applied and beads , since watching this video i understand it allot more. Thank you Matt!
Thanks bud that really was a helpful video clearing the confusion about this product what it is and isn't. Dallas Paint Correction needs to watch this. I wish you would have asked how much (approx.) Sio2 percentage is in the product??
Coatings are like Annuities, a lot of expensive bells and whistles that in the end you can achieve the same or better results and performance in a much simpler and economical way.
Very well said. I hadn't thought about a correlation like that. Ceramic Pro is like the Allianz Equity Indexed Annuity of the detailing world. They both have salespeople that make them very successful, but most of their massive existence is based on very little delivery on claims.
I wonder when the sacrificial layer mubo jumbo will stop? Clear Coat, OPT CCR, PPF, PPF Coating, Coating Topper, drying aid (easy to apply sealant)? Haha It's not mubo jumbo, if I had the financial means I'd strip the car of all paint, get it resprayed with one of the paint systems that comes on the German cars, have another layer of clear coat sprayed on the car and then begin the sacrificial layering at OPT CCR and go down to protective drying aid. Sheeting properties are so nice, the car stays so much cleaner.
One thing that wasn't covered was can it be watered down? I use Sonax BSD at 3:1 as my drying aid and was wondering if the megs could be used the same way.
I cut BSD 50/50 with V07 with AMAZING results. That said, after using 303's version of Megs hybrid Ceramic Wax (called touchless sealant) on a test vehicle I am moving everything over to this class of product simply because of slickness, gloss, longevity and ease of use. After the base is established you just spray and rinse. That's it.
It works great. I put ten squirts in a Walmart spray bottle and fill the remainder with water. I use as a drying aid and use about half a bottle of that mix on the car (so about 5 squirts of product gets used each wash.) It works fantastic and excellent coverage over the entire car. I have purchased several bottles of HCW to keep on hand, but after using it for a few months now, I've yet to use more than a 1/4 bottle on all my cars combined!
You can put this on all exterior surfaces, but that said, it was designed for paint. Some have noted that if you use too much it can streak on glass. Me personally, I would not spray it onto the glass, you will get enough on there from it spreading around and during the drying phase that get the job done.
Mark Kleis hey mark can the HCW be used on top of ceramic pro 9H or WAX/Sealants? My camaro has ceramic coating so I can just either mist the car with this and rise it off? I usually use leaf blower or my hand held master blaster to dry it! This product seems like it would make drying car even better/slicker!
@@TrigunV4S Hey sorry for the delay, been a hectic couple of days. I haven't done extensive testing on Ceramic Pro specifically, but I haven't had any issues on any coatings to date. It also has worked great on top of countless existing waxes and sealants. You should be able to spray it on and then rinse it off, then use your blower to get the majority of the water off and then use a slightly damp drying towel to go over the car (add product into towel as needed) and it should be super slick and boost the heck out of the beading!
Great video, learned alot. I'll be honest, I just feel like putting the term "ceramic " on your bottle because it mimics most of the properties of a ceramic coating is a tad disingenuous. I understand Meguiars thinking though now.
I have a couple of questions, would Meguiars Hybrid Ceramic wax works on rims, does it add any value in terms in cleaning maintenance ? , does it also replace using old style wax ? Valuable information Thanks for your effort
They have several chemists with PHDs, yet there are smaller companies that create better products. I'm not saying Meguiar's products don't work, I love some of their stuff, but they definitely fall short in certain areas where small guys come up with better solutions.
I'm sure Meguiar's isn't the only company with brilliant scientists and multiple phDs, there are a lot of good folks out there! We also know that there are other companies making fantastic products - we certainly aren't the only ones. If you think about it, can you name a single company that produces a wide range of products that can say without exception they make the best product in the world in every single case? I can't. Meguiar's has one of, if not the widest range of products in the world for automotive car care, and when you have literally HUNDREDS of items, you can't reasonably expect to have the absolute best every single time. You also have to consider that we don't purely focus on "best" for performance - we also factor in VALUE and SAFETY. Some folks may be willing to pay absolutely anything for the best possible performance, where others want a blend of cost and performance. Then add to that, we also make a point of making our products as safe as possible for the environment and users, often exceeding legal requirements and avoiding certain chemistries (such as persistent chemicals) even though they are legal. Hope that helps.
I'm still not 100% sure I would choose this product for my uses. That said, I really enjoyed hearing about this from the people who created it and put it on the market so that I could understand more about it.
For me it lasts approx. 2 months. And thats on a Hellcat i drive... couple of times a week. And that´s two months of where you can see it clearly, after that you can see degradation, or at least I can. So the protection is probably still there for 1 month more, if not even two. But I cant see the beading as clearly. I like the product, 2 months is good enough for me for a product this simple to use and that doesnt cost me a fortune.
Still waiting for Meguiars Australia to release this product. Its good consumer CCW thats easily bought for monthly maintenance and a booster to proper CC cars. But due to Aus climate/market which I doubt it will get released as most US meguiar products are limited to other markets

Obsessed Garage I agree!
Lol
At least this guy does a great job breaking down the product. The other marketers working should stick to windows...or moping the floor.

Waxmode!
Period!
@@seang3538 you clearly don't realize why he even started this Nonsense,
- he called the product a joke and says it doesnt work, yet NEVER did he even try it on video.
- he claimed to have went through 3 bottles and said it didnt work off camera(yeah right)
-He`s quick to always show how HIS products work but not the meguairs one
- Apex detail and wax mode has both proven that HCW was on par with DPC armour, so for something that has no "Sio2" in it vs scotts 10% sio2 says alot
- Wheres the SDS for his product? oh he`ll never show it because it would ruin his manipulation tactic to sell his stupid products while bashing a company and a product that poses a threat to his sales(DPC armor is like 25$+ with shipping for 16 ounces vs HCW that's like 15 bucks, 10$ at Walmart.)
I`d wish people would have a mind of their own and do research to formulate their own opinion on topics like this, instead of hanging off the word of a guy who`s been a professional(car washer) detailer (no offense to other detailers)for 30 years and thinks he knows everything about his industry but does the same exact marketing tactics that he chastises his industry for doing, don't believe me? look up jieux microfiber then look at his towels PRIVATE LABELING at its finest.
@@ObsessedGarage
Yes Agreed.
Scott the DPC guy is freakin damn ridiculous.
I'm glad there's a definitive explanation of the product and it's properties in this video. Thanks for sharing/making this video Matt.
Excellent. This was worth the 40 minutes of time to watch it. Thanks for bringing us along on this conversation.
I think this gentleman is absolutely the voice of product!! I learned more in these 40mins than I have in 6-12 months!! Very easy to listen to and understand without even a PHD in nanotechnology!! Thanka
Out of all the guys that I heard speak in this series, this guy was the best.
At least matt went to Meguairs & had an intelligent conversation about the product,
UNLIKE DPC who makes 2 videos saying the product sucks, refuses to actually use it in said videos but instead pulls the "MSDS sheet" argument just to push his own STUPID products to his sheep fans, while bashing Meguairs.
Thank you matt for actually having the courage to do this and not be a COWARD like Scott.
27:11, I forgot his name but thank you this needed to be said.

“I love you all”...

This is excellent information. Thank you Markus Kleis for delivering top level expertise. As expected, thanks to OG for making it happen.
I and I imagine many others have enjoyed these meguiars episodes. Keep the amazing videos coming man love it!
Great video! Touched on all the points I wanted to hear. Seen so many haters of this product, but you can’t deny results, ease of use, and price. I let the results speak for itself. Excellent product.
This is one of my favourite new products by Meguiar’s, it’s very impressive.
I’ve been using this for a couple of months, and I don’t care what it is, it’s fricking great, and it keeps the black trim protected and unfaded too!
The more I learn about this new product the more I think Meguiar's just hit a home run.
For real. Im sold when he said "slickness" and drying aid
Good to know I can use it after every wash as a drying aid cause that’s how I been using it. I love this stuff. Works very well for me.
Do you notice it leaving a opaque white finish on dark paint or is that just me?
@@Lucidbkeo right on, I figured I was too quick with it. Thanks for replying
This Meguiar's guy is extremely legit.
Agreed!
I’m glad you guys went over the details of this product because I was a little confused as to why they named it what they did. People make things too complicated, try it ! If you want it to last use it every wash or every other wash. If you don’t like it , buy something else.
Yep...

My friend uses stuff wrong, too. :) I need to show him (cuz he wont see this video like I did)
This is a great discussion and debate. Thank you for sharing info about ceramic coating and the reality of protection vs. coatings.
Wow what a company representative, Maguires should be proud of this guy
This was the most honest discussion of this product and many similar quick spray products. Thanks for releasing this time at Meguiars.
thomkirby meguiarsonline forums is a much better treasure trove of factual information than social media and the “collective” of non experts on forums.
What an awesome video. Terrific explanation and very in depth information Thank You.
I just watched a 40 minute video about a single product, and i enjoyed the whole thing. Sounds like i need to take a tour of Megs lol
Good stuff
Awesome.
Awesome.
If this is a protective layer but not a “wax” would I benefit from using a Maguires carnuba over a layer of this ceramic wax?
This video needs more views and likes! Great to hear "from the horse's mouth" about this product...
Such a great video thank you to Matt (plus team of course) and Meguiar's for doing this.
I used this product today for the first time, easy to use was foolproof for someone like me who wouldn’t have much of a clue, about detailing was very happy with results, this will be staying in the Car cleaning kit...
So this is only for already coated surfaces ?
Been waiting for this video since the Meguiar's series started. Very interesting product... (remember not everyone watching this channel is a prosumer)
Just bought it and really looking forward to using it this weekend
Beads imo are overrated. With sheeting the water runs off the paint in sheets leaving a drier surface. Beads sit on the paint and can lead to spots. Pans vid with Yvan demonstrating opti pro + was amazing. The panels were literally dry after the water sheeted off.
Aren't beads how water spots start ?
James Stewart that was my point

Why does Meguiars not sell their coatings stateside?
Because in North America, the retail consumers think that beading means protection. But many of the coatings sheet water rather than bead water, and retail consumers in North America may not understand the benefits of sheeting and be unable to adapt to the characteristics of coating products.
With such a saturated market now, my hope is Meguiars is cooking something special up. They do sell coatings in UK...
@@hammertimee777 Haha, yes, the grey market sales stuff is always funny to see. Heck, that's how M101 ended up in the US...
Sold bought this line, though i cant find the detailer locally.
The ceramic spray on products made by Meguiar's are generally very good and people have no problem with it. It is a controversial product not because of its performance, price, or usability. People have problems with this product because Meguiar's use the words ceramic or SiO2 to advertise them.
This is incredible insight. I cannot thank you enough for sharing these.
This is why I like Meguiars. They know what they are taking about. Proof is this Meguiars employee.
It does protect from uv right?
Can i spray this application on wet rim and rinse off with water? does effect brake pad?
I wish this product was available over 15 years ago when I have a detail shop. It's great for a spiff job. I am using it on my vehicle and boats. Good product.
Thank you so much for all you do, I watched all the Meguir's videos and also for talking about the new Hybrid spray wax like you said there's so much controversy about it and then there are the haters on it now maybe we can get them all to shut up I guess it's easier to bash something you don't know about or understand then to find how it's supposed to be used or how it works. Thanks again Matt take care always.
So good! Thank you Matt 🍻
I appreciate this, especially amongst these weekend warriors who are doing chemical testing and saying the product is gone off the panel etc. I’m by no means an expert or weekend warrior. However I do like to protect my vehicle
Cleared up a lot of crap that I have seen on this product. Thanks Matt
Interesting how so many "Pro detailers" on TH-cam are telling us how to use the mhcw so incorrectly!
That’s typical.
Which if any of these products, wax, synthetic or ceramic give the best UV protection ?
A wise person once said,...
"Know the difference between, knowledge and information".
How do you remove this particular product from the surface once applied? I used a little too much upon initial application and there is a purple stain just under the license plate that Ajax won't take off. I often switch between products as a lot of other do so I would think removal would be a pretty important topic. Would a simple IPA wash remove all the product? Thanks
Best explanation yet!
So who is the one guy you need to please?
Also, so how much si02 is there?
If they told you the quantity of SiO2 content in the solution, what would that tell you? The answer is that it would tell you nothing. You would need a frame of reference and have an intimate understanding of the other carriers, surfactants, and detergents. It's like asking what the contrast ration of a display is. That means very little without testing parameters.
There is zero si02 in it.
@@ObsessedGarage that was a thoughtful reply however,
Who is this one person you had to please?
Also, I'll play "stupid" so bare with me...

Haha
It's not mubo jumbo, if I had the financial means I'd strip the car of all paint, get it resprayed with one of the paint systems that comes on the German cars, have another layer of clear coat sprayed on the car and then begin the sacrificial layering at OPT CCR and go down to protective drying aid.
Sheeting properties are so nice, the car stays so much cleaner.
and when that hard ass clearcoat gets scratched you're gonna spend like 3 years getting it out.

Great video full of information on this product. Thank you 👍👐
One thing that wasn't covered was can it be watered down? I use Sonax BSD at 3:1 as my drying aid and was wondering if the megs could be used the same way.
I don't think it will be as effective.
I have purchased several bottles of HCW to keep on hand, but after using it for a few months now, I've yet to use more than a 1/4 bottle on all my cars combined!
is this just for the car painted areas or can this product be used on glass, wheels, chrome, head lights and other car areas?
You can put this on all exterior surfaces, but that said, it was designed for paint. Some have noted that if you use too much it can streak on glass. Me personally, I would not spray it onto the glass, you will get enough on there from it spreading around and during the drying phase that get the job done.
Mark Kleis Awesome! Thank you.
Ahh thanks for the info!

Great video, learned alot. I'll be honest, I just feel like putting the term "ceramic " on your bottle because it mimics most of the properties of a ceramic coating is a tad disingenuous. I understand Meguiars thinking though now.

Works great on rims..brake dust is much less
Same here. This isn't a product I feel the need to use, but I never dislike knowing stuff.
Is this compatible as a topper on collinite 485?
I don't think it will play well.
So can I still use my wax over this stuff or what do I do with my spray wax and detail spray?
Wax generally doesn't play well with Silicon DiOxide.
@@ObsessedGarage well that sucks. Looks like the detail spray and spray Is useless. I thought it was carnauba that does not work with sio2?
Can I use this on the interior plastic?
No, you shouldn't be using anything on interior outside of a cleaner that leaves nothing behind.
@@ObsessedGarage I was thinking that I could use this as a protectant for the interior plastic.
Allen already got mine off ebay
$50
33:08 that’s me, every wash 😂
Matt, cut back on the talk and let the man explain.
How do you address CSL/EXO down the line when it starts to fail. Do you just re-apply EXO, or polish it off and start with a new CSL base?
You'd need to remove it with compounding then reapply.
So qhats a good sheeting type of wax.
Collinite 845 sheets well.
@@ObsessedGarage nonsense,845 will bead like crazy during a rainstorm.
