    This video shows a timelapse video on how to model a simple Stylized Rock. Autodesk maya was used to model, Zbrush for sculpting, and Substance Painter for texturing. The goal of the video was to make a model in less than an hour.

    I have a small question, How to you keep the model with the same number of polygons even you modify it on zbrush ? Because I thought that Zbrush gives more and more polygons! thanks

    • @3dextrude
      @3dextrude  6 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      In this case what I did was make the initial model in Maya; exported that to zbrush. In zbrush I sculpted it as I wanted. I exported that as the high poly and also made a duplicate in zbrush. I used the duplicate as the low poly by first enabling Dynamesh on it so it would merge all the vertices and made the model whole without any intercepting geometry inside. I then use the decimation master to reduce the poly count significantly so it would work as the low poly and exported that as my low poly model. Hope that helps.

    Speeding up the video doesn’t make it speed modeling... modeling the rock formation quickly and efficiently makes it speed modeling.

    • @DeathbyLibra
      @DeathbyLibra 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh, let me add this though, so that my feedback isn’t all negative... you do really nice work... work that is worth the real amount of time and effort you put into it. I just think calling this speed modeling is a little deceiving. The rock wasn’t made in 11 minutes... I’d wager it took between 30-60 minutes minimum. Which is still very impressive. Don’t take my initial comment as pure salt. :)

    • @3dextrude
      @3dextrude  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      You are just salty, lol kidding. I think up to an hour can still be called speed modeling, although I guess it would depend on the object, but who knows I didn't make the rules

    • @DeathbyLibra
      @DeathbyLibra 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@3dextrude I’ll concede with you in that there really is no set rule… and no, wasn’t being salty, you do great work. I guess when I think about speed modeling, I’m looking at videos that are in real time, the artist is just moving quickly and, more importantly, efficiently. (Not calling you inefficient either)… my professor used to have us watch videos of speed modeling so that we could learn techniques to make our process more efficient. These people would model a detailed city street with buildings, sidewalks, street lamps, etc.. in 15 ish minutes. My first impression 2 years ago when watching this was, “they’re calling it speed modeling because they sped up the video?” But here I am, 2 years later, enjoying watching you work. :) didn’t even realize you commented back 2 yrs ago lol. I meant no disrespect. :)

    • @3dextrude
      @3dextrude  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@DeathbyLibra No worries Wayne! Totally makes sense. That's an interesting point about what is a speed modeling video. I personally was always under the impression that speed modeling meant a speed up video and not what you mentioned so that's actually good to know.
