    Here's a list of useful shortcuts used in maya.
    W- move
    E- rotate
    R- scale
    G- repeat last command
    q - exit tool
    b- soft selection
    shift + . - grow selection
    alt + b - change background color
    f - fit to selection
    ctrl + a - open attribute editor/channel box
    ctrl + delete - deletes an edge loop( 2014 version and up only)
    1 - standard mode
    2- subdivision mode with cage
    3- subdivision mode

    how do you unwrap the uvs of the models?. i really love your work and style.. thank you for these.. please make a future tutorial on some advance modelling uv and texturing.. really love your uploads they are just beautiful...

      For this speed modeling video I use the automatic Uv; this is not meant to be a pipeline ready asset so I don't care about the uv's for it; this is mostly for fun/practice.

    Did you bake the maps from the high poly sculpt onto a "less high poly" mesh? Or was that straight out texturing the sculpt?

      It was baked to a low poly model.

    I'm having issues with the normal baking part, some of the edges of my low poly mesh are showing through and clipping outwards

      You may have to increase or decrease the threshold in the bake settings, or possibly use baking by names. Search for baking by names on google and you will find how to do it.

    When I export the portal I made to Zbrush, I cannot make the change you applied to the objects. becomes more superficial and kinda uncontrollable. Also have you reserved Texture in Maya?

      I already have a smart material I made a while back so I just apply that and change colors for some of the parts of the model, and few minor adjustments to it; I posted it on my website if you want to download it for free.

      That is Zbrush, it is used for sculpting.

      Look for a tutorial on how to use polygroups and isolate select in zbrush.

      Yes, you need uvs for the low poly before baking in Painter

      That's the orb crack brush, do a google search and you will find it.

      +Mouyad Farhan It depends on your current level. If you are just starting to learn 3D then I would say watch tutorials and make as many models as you can, these don't need to be stylized. Once you are pretty competent at making models you can start to focus on stylized things; for that I would say look for inspirational works( artstation is a good website for that) and keep practicing. Becoming great at something has a lot to do with how much time you spend doing it. I would definitively check out the artstation website for inspiration and a source of learning; you should also be aware that you may need to spend money as most great tutorials are paid to view, but not all.

      i mean to ask. when did unwrapped process took place before importing it into zbrush, or you did it in zbrush itself. These unwrapping stuffs confuse me a lot and did you render it in substance .

      I did the unwrapping in Maya, it can be before or after zbrush. The rendering was done in Marmoset Toolbag.

      thanks. but i did the same model in max unwrapped -sculpted in zbrush-export obj- try to import in SP it doesn't showed up .... i don't know whats the problem is

      In Substance Painter you need to import the low poly model, this one needs uvs. Substance Painter supports fbx and objs, I recommend fbx file format

      If it wasn't speed modeling I would spend more time to polish and make it look better, but I would say perhaps around 3 hours

    How to model in maya:
    1. Make some basic geometry.
    Then you go for Zbrush nad Substance painter, old chap. No Maya allowed up ahead.

    i dont know why all videos with 3d have so terrible background musik but so much videos with 2d grafiks, like speedpinting with photoshop have great musik from Two steps from Hell, Audiomachine....but ALL!!!!!! these 3d Speedmoddeling Videos have sooo terrible music. Its a pity, make not so much fun to look.

      Either one, I use zbrush haven't used mudbox.
