How on earth did Roy Barraclough keep a straight face , these sketches take me back to my childhood , when Cissie and Ada’s were in abundance , Roy and Les portray them superbly 😂
Sublime. Sadly I doubt if we’ll see comedy as brilliant as this ever again. The characters, the dialogue, the mannerisms are all so spot on and natural, it’s hard to imagine how this could have been scripted.
I've just discovered these sketches and how I missed them I don't know! I'm from the US and love British and Australian comedy. These are HILARIOUS!!!! Move over Grace Brothers, there is new show for this old man! Love it!!! Can't wait to find more from these comedians!
I need to find laughter on you tube when life's a bit rubbish. Les Dawson.larry grayson. Fabulous. Lough out loud.down to earth .Les knew.down to earth life.loved him.
Thank you for this. Superb. These two were superb. There is nothing like this, and nobody who can perform like this today. Real comedy. What a treat. Comedy at its very best. Just crack up gags one after another. Amazing. Makes Mrs Browns Boys look amateurish.
he said my toes were like globe artichokes....im in bed literally crying tears with laughter my god so funny! god bless you les and roy absolute legends sadly missed xxxRIP
Silently mouthing words has an interesting history with older northern ladies. Apparently cotton mills where many of them worked when young were so deafeningly noisy it was the only way to communicate there. And as they could all read lips so well, it could also be used to discuss 'delicate' subjects in the street.
My own dear old mum was just like ada and Cissie, she would come out with all sorts of malapropisms and she worked in a cotton mill for some years in Lancashire so she would mee_maw as they called it because of the noisy looms and she did it when gossiping with her friends wherever she was
Been so down and feeling what's the point which are very dangerous dark feelings for me but these sketches have been a lift a right tonic they were both fantastic les and Roy so brilliant doing these no talent like that around now we'll maybe there is but a very different world now.
To think 40 to 50 years ago, this was comedy but in todays world this is almost normality, how many fellers are today sitting down for breakfast dressed like Cissy and Ada
I think you'll find that there were just as many Transvestites back then, but society was a lot harsher then and being discovered could end careers and destroy whole families. John Hurt as Quentin Crisp in 'The Naked Civil Servant' shows just how badly treated Transvestites and Crosdressers were. And if you've ever fancied seeing Roger Lloyd-Pack (Trigger) from 'Only Fools and Horses' dressed in drag you'll LOVE 'The Naked Civil Servant'!!!
@wordscapes5690 it's not that people believe it's something new but rather that these days we're expected to say that they're transgender rather than transvestite. Trandvestism is a deviancy and so shouldn't be in your face in the street. It's a world away from comedic impersonators or true transgender or just gay. It seems today we're supposed to believe that all the aforementioned are on par with eachother or interchangeable. Total nonsense.
This when comedy was funny not like crap these days alutter crap these days thanks for sharing not a had good laugh seems like ages thanks again 😂❤❤❤❤😂
And today? Afraid of offending anyone. Todays comedians are promoted not because they are funny but simply because they are woman or ethnic and E are meant to laugh simply for turning up on stage.

This will never be equalled. A masterpiece.
Not in a million years.

The frightening thing is that when I was a child there were women who looked just like Ada.

TRUE THAT
Correct … my northern relatives ( female ) used to do it ! LOL
I Grew up in the northeast - and this is like watching my grandmother. The way she silently mouthed words 😂
Thanks..
The silent mouthing is known as mee mawing in Northern mill towns
20:50 The best comic timing I've ever seen. It's well over 10 seconds before he speaks but the audience is cracking up.
She had more soldiers than General Eisenhoure it had me in stitches.
Me too ha ha and the pine coffin, if she does this (flaps arms) the sides will fall in pmsl what legends
45 minutes of this? Oh god yes.

Brilliant still going strong in 2021
This Is Marvelously 😂😆 Hilarious!!
Last wall he built was Hadrians.!
Wonderful ❤
Great to see more Cissie and Ada clips...pity the sound balance is not so good at the beginning, early Yorkshire Television! Thanks for posting.
Thankyou for watching 👍
Brilliant.
oh how I wish this was a real series
Hopefully this comes close enough 😉
As Hylda Baker said “she’s had that there, you know all taken away but the bed”
One of her sisters lived on Plodder Lane Farnworth, her living room was full of photos of Hylda.
That Ada is such a looker! If only I were 50 years younger!
I wonder if she's into "Carnival Knowledge" 😄
Fantastic 😅
I do understand a quarter of what they say but still they are hilarious 😂 Here’s where Mrs Brown Family came from 😂
I miss this kind of comedy I'd take this over today's pc rubbish
Here here 👍👍
Damn right!! same here!!!!!
Amen to that firebyrd.

@@garyfenlon5769most people are unaware of gay culture. That is why they assume we all just popped into existence a few years ago just to annoy them.

Funniest guy I ever heaed. hahaha,
Anyone know who the duchess was played by? Just wondered if he had ever played Lady Bracknell on the stage.
It's Julian Orchard 😉
Julian Orchard .
Can someone tell me what the a maid of honour is. I gather it is some kinda of cake 🎂
When England was England
❤️❤️❤️
Brilliant comedy 🎭
How come the comments are disabled for your Alf Garnett video but not for all the others??
It's because there was a lot of arguing between viewers, i.e. political stuff etc, so I disabled them to try to keep the peace 🤞
@@JuggiesArchiveFair enough.
The Best looking women in England 🤣
😂😂👍
It's depressing what passed for comedy in the past. Stupid, shallow drivel promoted by the beeb and ITV with a false laughter track
for the same reason Roy Clarke never watched his own sitcoms on TV. He said, it killed all the jokes and wits.
And today? Afraid of offending anyone. Todays comedians are promoted not because they are funny but simply because they are woman or ethnic and E are meant to laugh simply for turning up on stage.
Miserable bugger. That's my granny you're talking about. Ada reminds me so much of my dad's mam (as we say in Geordieland).
The reference to a relation in Alwoodley....classic...it's posh..to use an anachronism... as Ada would say...
