As a young lad I watched Dave Allen's shows without fail. He pioneered the type of humour that was taken from everyday life/events and made them funny. There have been very few comedians that have matched his wit. There have plenty that have emulated him but none to the same standard... in my opinion. Loved him. 🤣🤣🤣👍🏻🇦🇺
Dave was head and shoulders above his peers. It doesn't date and is still funny and incisive. When I was a lad his TV show was a don't miss event every week.
I cannot imagine how funny he must have been as a family member, absolutely brilliant.

Saw him at Newcastle City Hall in 1987, on stage for almost 4 hilarious hours. Simply brilliant.

I saw Dave Allen on stage in London many years ago, and absolutely loved it. Great comic and a great human being.

I first saw Mr. (Dave) Allen [and Benny Hill] when I was in the Military on a 45 day TDY to RAF Mildenhall England, Crewing the SR-71 out of Beale AFB Ca. In 1978. I was AMAZED at the Humor and Genius of his Satirical Commentary; and to my total and utter dismay, never saw either show again for over a decade or more, and though “Benny Hill” made it’s way to America via “PBS” as did MANY Other GREAT British Shows (Too Many to Name; and I LOVE Them ALL; even to the resent Airing of “Downton Abbey”!) I Never saw “Dave Allen” again, for nearly 35 years; But I NEVER Forgot his Persona or Talent; It wasn’t until I stumbled onto “TH-cam’ that I was re-acquainted with this English (IRISH) GEM! It IS Now my MISSION in life to “Watch Every Show” of Mr. Allen that I can find on the Internet, too at long last enjoy his Wit, Wisdom and keen Social Observations that I have missed but NEVER forgotten for nearly 40 years! (RIP Mr. Allen; from a Yank that Never FORGOT You!) and to those that try to compare George Carlin to Dave Allen; He had NOTHING on Mr. Allen, and I grew up on 'G. Carlin' in the late 60's & 70's (Hippy Dippy Weather Man, Class Clown & 'The 7 Words') He Never had Dave Allen's CLASS!!!

all ways brilliant and funny throughout the years,so many have said remembering watching it when young with their parents as did I! now here today again watching him with my 87 year old mum still both howling with laughter. timeless genius!

My late Mother loved Dave Allens shows
I was brought up in a Roman Catholic home with the Sacred Heart picture over the fire place.
However, when Dave Allen was on we all watched him. My late parents thought he was hilarious.
Religion, religion can be funny.

They weren't true Christian's who persicuted people. They used it as an excuse. None of them had given their life to Christ. Christianity is not a religion but a relationship. God said. I remember when I was in H.S. there used to be his comedy show "Dave Allen at Large". I guess it was around 1970. It was a good funny show and probably introduced me to that genre of humor. Also around that time there was also comedy show by Marty Feldmen. And then in college was Monty Python. So I'm glad to see Dave Allen here on TH-cam to enjoy. Plus I like the way he makes fun of religion.

Since i've watched "Dave Allen at Peace" with Aidan Gillen.Searched for Dave Allen works and i really loved it.Surely he was a master of my favorite type of comedy, a comedy that involves social criticism to humanity but with a real humor being really funny.They are so funny that even Dave Allen himself can not bear to laugh.
And Aidan Gillen divinely played his character even more dramatically, showing that however much he may be a professor in comedy and the art of social criticism, he was a human being who was born, grew, lived, aged and gone to the wind. this was well elaborated, mainly thanks to the performance of Aidan Gillen.
Congratulations Aidan Gillen for another brilliant development of his talent.
And may the heavens have Dave Allen for his influence on comedy in future generations and a unique and intelligent talent to bring joy to the tedious, dumb adults of mankind.
PS: In the script for "Dave Allen at Peace" should have included in the monologues of Aidan Gillen this joke at 3:12 until 3:19.

This was filmed at Ruislip. I knew the Punch & Judy cafe because when I was on the buses in London the route I drove on used to go to Ruislip Lido and we used to use the cafe on the odd occasion.
