    My pedalboard is an old skateboard deck with Velcro strips on it.

      man that is sick! I found an old skateboard deck and have been thinking about what to do with it. this sounds like a great idea actually

    I made my own, and have modded it periodically. I only use a few pedals (not a fan of multi-fx), so it suits me. It fits into a standard aluminium toolbox from Machine Mart, making it easy to take to gigs.

    I built my pedal boards out of reused wood from a pallet. that was free. Velcro was a few dollars. bam. done. I got a case from Harbor Freight for 40 dollars.. and then picked up a used hard shell suit case from a thrift store for 15 dollars as a case. People would rather spend 200 for a name than get a cutting board or what not and use an old laptop case or suit case as a case.

      Yep, there’s plenty of other options for pedalboards out there!

    I bought one that came with a power supply built in during prime days. It was on sale for $40. I used it to expand my Boss pedal board by zip tying it on the Boss board. I use a pedal power isolated power supply that fits on pretty well.

    I use 58 pedals on two boards wired up as 3 separate self contained boards. I make my own boards. I am working on new pair that are 3 tiered and hold about 35 each and link with 2 small patch bays and operated by a pedal switcher. The board with the switcher is on the floor and the other on a stand for easy access to the knobs. I am making the frame from 1" PVC pipe and use 3 hardwood strips typically used for door stop frames as the shelves to stretch across the pipe.. It is all relatively cheap. The best part is it is incredibly strong yet very light weight. I expect it will cost about $200.00 USD but if I bought ready made boards for 70 pedals it would be about $1000.00 USD. It takes hours to get the design right and hours to cut the pipe etc. You need infinite patience. The glue used dries on contact. Mistakes are unforgivable, LOL I got the idea from making strong lightweight stands getting combo amps off the floor for years. The pipe weighs nothing and incredibly strong once assembled.

      70 pedals is insane! I love it, would love to see some photos of that setup!

      USE?!!! USE?!!!!! HOW DAFUQ DO YOU USE 58 pedals?! are you just like '' Naah fuck the stage floor, lets just jump on some pedals''.. i cant even do a gig with 6 pedals without accidentally hit a knob or a button... fifty frickin eight pedals bro?...
      Okay now that is out of the way.... that sounds interesting, how do you manage such a large number of pedals? do you have assistans? or the ability to fly?... no i cant... sorry bro.. carry on...

    I made mine out of pvc pipe and some 3d printed parts; super cheap and easy.

    I find a Bamboo Duck Board in Kmart, it's looks very suit to be a pedalboard.....

      I’ve seen those as well, they would be perfect for a pedalboard with a bit of craftsmanship I reckon

    Use 3m Spray adhesive rather than wood glue..

    This is a really well done video. Thank you!
    Question: what's it like transporting this to and from gigs / rehearsals? Do you have a carrying case, etc.?

      I had a backpack that fit it ready to go, but it is a little heavy tbh! You can make it work though for sure

    What did you use for the little rubber feet?

    • @danieljdtaylor
      @danieljdtaylor  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Some rubber feet stickers from Bunnings I believe, they were probably around $2

    And that is why I think it is insane to put the hook side of velcro on the pedal. I don't want my pedals sticking to my carpet at home NOR scratching my wood floors.. why do guitarists do velcro backwards.. PUT THE FUZZY SIDE ON THE PEDAL

      I guess it’s one of those things that doesn’t make sense but has always been done that way 🤷‍♂️ think about the fact guitar pedal signal chain goes from right to left, the opposite to what you’d expect considering we read left to right (in the western world anyway) so why is it the opposite? It’s weird but it’s pretty much always been that way

    Is Building Your Own Pedalboard Worth It? Hell no lol. Not when you can get a Boss ME-90 for about 350 USD. Is building your own pedal board fun and a unique experience? Yeah it can be cool if you want to build your own I guess.

    • @danieljdtaylor
      @danieljdtaylor  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      If you get the right pedals, you could easily have a board with heaps of pedals for well under $350. Multi FX pedals like the ME-90 are epic value but not everyone likes to use Multi FX so this is a great alternative.

    • @Cobalt985
      @Cobalt985 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      $350 is not a little bit of money. Only basic woodworking skills are required to make one of these so I don't think off the shelf ones are worth it tbh.

    • @Corpsecrank
      @Corpsecrank 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I meant 350 total costs not for just the board. I kinda meant go 350 and skip building a board completely like all pedals included and just get the all in one unit that handles it all cleanly. Unless you really just want to build a board which like I said has it's own reasons for being fun.
