    I remember that Mimir was very concerned about Atreus turning evil and didn’t dismiss it as merely a child being a brat. So maybe he knows something about an evil version of Loki.

    My theory is that in the first timeline Kratos died instead of Faye. Prophecy didn’t count on him because we wasn’t there in the first timeline. But Faye and Atreus were. That’s also how Faye was able to lay out the path of the first game. She had already walked it with Atreus to spread Kratos ashes.

    • @literallynerd2326
      @literallynerd2326 2 ปีที่แล้ว +17

      Okay brother, this is pretty good, but basically you are saying God of War 2018 with Faye as the protagonist. For this to be true, spreading ashes should have no meaning, like it was just a goal for the journey and only the journey was important to start the events of Ragnarok. But Faye was a giant, and I believe Jotunheim should be easily accessible for her. As we know, she was an important figure for giants; she had knowledge of their secrets and strategies, but in this case, Kratos didn't even know Faye was a giant, so finding all the secrets during this big journey made sense and there should be a world serpent in that universe too right? I like your theory though; it makes sense.

    • @Fasteddycustoms
      @Fasteddycustoms 2 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      Idk you guys forget only jormungandr in Norse ever travelled through time as it took cracking Yggdrasil for that to happen so how did Faye travel back in time she’d be the only living being that ever time travelled without cracking the world tree it’s just impossible this is a cool theory but for a loki to be born he has to be half god and it can’t be aesir or he wouldn’t have use of the vanir magic the real Loki can use sooo in real ragnarok myth even though Loki killed him baldur still survives ragnarok with his nephews modi and magni so evil Loki can’t exist for baldur to stay dead as part of baldurs resurrection was due to Loki plus fenrir never came back with Faye it would be impossible to hide a wolf that never stops growing and is almost as big as half of jormungandr so and to add another Loki would cost more money than Santa Monica would possibly want to spend adding 10 more hours of gameplay to make another Loki fit in with lord and history and background I just logically this theory makes no sense as how can Faye travel through time when in Norse myth time travel was only capable by shaking the world tree hard enough to crack it creating a hole in time itself so cool theory but it’s not very sound logically and based off events that have already taken place plus there was 0 hint in gow 2018 that anyone other than jormungandr ever has or ever could travel through time

    It’s possible that Kratos still made it to Scandinavia in the first timeline as well. He just might’ve arrived at a much later time. Faye traveling back in time to ensure he gets there when she needs him would be more likely

    • @radagast7200
      @radagast7200 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Maybe Kratos and his own time jumping escapades in the previous game (when he killed the fates) made him 'unstuck' in time so to speak, so he was easier to drag through time again.

  • @AfromanRants

    Hey Kuba! I was replaying the Greek saga this last week, and realized something I think will end up being rather important. We know the Blade of Olympus can essentially absorb power from beings, shown in the beginning of God of War 2. At the end of GoW3, we use the blade to drain Gaia’s energy, killing her. If we are to take the mythology literally, Gaia was who created the islands and oceans. What if Tyr melted the blade down and reforged it into something the people of Greece could use to rebuild? Something with enough power to both harness the Hope that Kratos left behind, and clear the land of the evils that remained? I think this could be a good explanation for the “gift” that we see Tyr giving in the mural.

    • @fernosbonos5394

      @@fernosbonos5394 Everything we know about Tyr so far is that he’s an incredibly intelligent and skilled craftsman. He also had a relationship with Brok and Sindri, who could have aided. He collects knowledge, relics, and artifacts from other cultures, and clearly knows of the existence of other pantheons. He is also a god of war, meaning he probably has a competent understanding of magic. Not only that, he also literally designed an entire temple capable of *harnessing the power of the Bifrost,* allowing for the ease of travel between different realms. Everything we know about Tyr sets him up to have levels of intellect paralleling even Odin. What makes you think he couldn’t repurpose the Blade of Olympus?

    From my understanding, when Atreus was about to die the world was doing crazy, signifying the need of a Loki to be in the world for is to function properly. So it would make sense that regardless of who the father may be a Loki would be born to the world. The only important factor being that the father's nature is the one that determines Loki's path. I mean Atreus was predetermined to be called Loki before Kratos decided to name him "Atreus", after his dead friend. This would piggyback off of your theory that Faye birthed a new generation of giants. That way the previous timeline Loki could be part Asear from the time of peace. and Kratos changing something is changing current Loki's affiliation and teachings. IDK its a hard sell but its very interesting

    Hello Kaptain Kuba
    There is something in the GOW 2018 game no one is talking about
    Kratos blames mimir for not telling them that baldur is the son of freya. But at the beginning of the game on one sections of the boat Atreus identifies baldur and says that he is the son of freya and odin. The theore here is that after freya revived atreus of his sickness she might have erased some of his knowlage about her son or maybe more. I think that this is the only explanation to this plot.

      @@KaptainKuba for sure. Something else I thought of was that when Atreus saw himself killing Modi in Helheim, he said that that was not him. It’s almost as if he didn’t remember those memories entirely. Of course, this could just be his incredible disbelief for his actions, a hint that Atreus has “two sides” within himself, or a hint (like you explained) from Santa Monica that another Atreus exists. This may just be some random thought, but I think you’re definitely on to something! Great video.

    Or Atreus just seems familiar to Jörmungandr because Atreus is way older when he knows him in the future. It's a cool theory. Perhaps some of it could be true. Like Evil loki from the future but it IS Atreus. Perhaps Kratos from the OG timeline does in fact make it to the Norse world but later. So Faye goes back in time to take Kratos earlier than he should to get an advantage for Ragnarok.

    • @radagast7200
      @radagast7200 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Kratos also did a fair amount of time traveling himself in the previous games. The fates dragged him through time and then he killed them and took their power, and moved all of the Titans forward. The Norse fates, the Norns, perhaps had similar abilities and noticed the time line shift somehow.

    My theory is that the timelines are not linier but run congruent and fluent with each other. Like in the previous God of Wars, Kratos can interact with the past and future. Creating so called new branches of the world tree. Even a timeliness where calliope is alive still exist. Stretching I know but definitely possible. By destroying the world tree and and the inhabitants of it a primordial restart takes affect. Whilst also simultaneously continuing the previous and current line of events do to the presents of the individuals whom brought about the destruction. No matter the place Loki will unlock key events to bring forth destruction, and also harmony all together. It can literally go on forever.
    We are freedom personified!

    I think the reason why Mimir says "Prophecy doesn't count on you" {Kratos} is because he didn't know about the mural inside the Temple of the Giants in Jotunheim. I think this could be because the mural was hidden behind some form of magic which could only be revealed by either Kratos or Atreus touching it. Similar to the mural in Tyr's Temple which had elements to it which could only be seen with those special eyes Mimir has. Hence why he says that.

Than, Faye traveled back, creating the 2nd timeline, bring Kratos here and told the 2nd timeline Faye to find him, and have Loki with him. 2nd timeline Faye died, but the other Faye saw everything that happend to Kratos and Atreus. Atreus's sons and 1st timeline Faye traveled again, and here we are, at the 3rd timeline. Faye's people (the giants) called him Loki. That doesn't surely mean that he is THE Loki from the Norse mythology. People often name their kids after someone or someplace they have a connection with, are inspired from etc., just like Kratos named Atreus after the Spartan warrior. So maybe Faye named him Loki after the actual Loki.
    Great video Kap, never thought about there being 2 Loki(s). Your videos are really good for brainstorming about the next game. Great theories, the game's story has a lot to live upto now.😊

    • @lilchaos9212
      @lilchaos9212 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The problem with that is that the actual Loki who appears in the myths, the one you claim Atreus may have been named after, doesn't exist in the God of War universe. The creation of Mjolnir, the killing of Baldur, the flyting of Loki, the imprisonment and eventual escape of Loki that begins Ragnarok... none of that has happened. Loki has purposefully been written out of the mythology because he wasn't born yet. Atreus was the one who caused Baldur's death using the mistletoe arrow - Loki's greatest sin in the original myths - so why would they give it to a some kid who was named Loki that isn't the actual Loki? Why have Jormungandr recognise Atreus if he isn't his father? Why have Atreus' mother be called Laufaye and his father be nicknamed Fárbauti under the depictions of Kratos on the murals? Atreus IS the Loki.

  • @edandubnikov5410
    @edandubnikov5410 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I think this theory is really intriguing. I don't think it's as much about the two Loki's, but more about how a different perspective on a vague, yet important line can help shape the timeline in a different view. To continue, I'm sure there are a dozen more lines such as the prophecy one that can be made into different swaying points through different thoughts. Now it's just about finding the right combination of which situations and views make the most sense in progression of what we already were given. As our base for knowledge was definitely extremely large in the first game. The two Loki's theory is just the first step in uncovering even more exciting potential for Ragnarok!

    Before Ragnarök I thought it was possible that there was a future Loki. Since Skol and Hati are Fenrir’s kin and Jormungandr already existed. But in GoW Ragnarök it was explained that Garm and Fenrir are the same like Freya and Frigg are. Which concludes the hole in the plot. Jormungandr is a giant that Thor killed or tried to kill.
    Bergelmir has a shrine in Tyr’s statues room where you flip the temple in GOW 2018. It is mentioned that Bergelmir “disappeared” without dying (he placed his soul in an object or somebody else did it for him).
    I think Faye placed Bergelmir’s soul somewhere for Atreus to find in the future. “Until gods grow good” is also a phrase from Tyr’s temple during the “breaking the chains” part.
    A second Loki could be possible because Odin is depicted riding Sleipnir (which is a plot hole since Sleipnir doesn’t appear in the Norse games). I think Asgard Loki is dead and he probably used an alias. Asgard Loki is Garm’s father and Sleipnir’s mother (like the myth 😂). Since Santa Monica combined figures into supposed ones, then splitting Loki in two could be an interesting twist. We might get a game about Asgard Loki without knowing it is not Atreus. The reveal could happen at the end. This could give the writers room to create a character background that is similar, but has differences to the Loki we know. Hints could be dropped everywhere, but only be apparent if you replay the game (just like Tyr being Odin in disguise in Ragnarök). That way we can get Sunny as Atreus and a new actor as Asgard Loki. Two new protagonists for a spin off prequel/sequel.
    Or it could have been Atreus from a different timeline all along.

    I have a theory where Atreus and Angrboda travel to the first timeline, before Ymir's death. This would explain Sleipnir, Jormungandr, Fenrir and the artbook cover (supposedly they arriving at an empty Jotunheim). I have no clue why they would travel back in time, maybe it's an accident when Kratos fights Thor and Yggdrasil splinters or something.

    • @radagast7200
      @radagast7200 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Last time Kratos traveled through time, it was when he was fighting the Greek Fates. Maybe they'll battle the Norse Fates, the Norns at the base of Yggdrasil, and get time travel kicked off that way.
      Their names are Past, Present and Future.

  • @34megafranco
    @34megafranco 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Interesting theory. The fact that the serpent sort of recognized Atreus but not Kratos is clear evidence that Kratos wasn't involved in the first timeline. I believe that Odin (as you said before) recollected to much info on the prophecy that allowed him to alter the outcome of Ragnarok, so Faye opted to include Kratos on this one. Haha I can only imagine the face of Odin searching for Kratos and finding none in all the info he has gathered.

    interesting theory, Kuba,
    since there are 2 characters named Loki in norse myth they might adapt both into GOW
    perhaps they will do something like Laufey had the first Loki in a prior relationship & told her son of his destiny, but he could not handle the pressure or responsibility of knowing his fate, so he fled in the guise of a bird, or something like that idk

  • @keshavmalsariaop4225
    @keshavmalsariaop4225 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    The theory is good but according to norse mythology, Faye(Laufey) and Farabauti are the parents of Asgard Loki not of the Utgard Loki. And from the final Jotunheim Mural we know that Kratos is Farbauti. So Atreus is the son of Faye and Farbauti (Kratos), which means he has to be the Asgard Loki.
    Hope this makes sense.

    This theory might mean that La Faye's role in the Norse series is similar to Kratos' role in God of War 2, they both travel back in time to change their fate, and since there is the mention of Norniers / Fates in the Norse series, it makes sense that Faye had a means to travel back in time

    Maybe in the orginal timeline kratos does die
    Before naming Atreus and Faye names him Loki and then that Atreus become just like mythological counter part and the giants lose the war during the original Ragnarok
    But probably when Faye, the serpent , and the wolves travel thru time that allowed things to change and keep Kratos alive in the current timeline
    That’s why “ prophecy didn’t count on him” when he killed Baldur.
    And how Atreus look familiar to the serpent

    i will use your space to tell something that is itching me about gow, i'm replaying the game again and i found some cool things that i never saw someone talking about, the first one is about faye's markings, we know that yellow is the color that represents faye, and everywhere in the world that is maked in yellow it was her that made it, but some places are marked in other colours, I saw three times already, the first time i saw, it was in alfheim, a white paint, close to the light, right in front of the edge that you use to go down, between the piles of dead elvs, the other mark i saw is in the mountain, right after you take mimir's head and is climbing down, on the wall, are some markings, that have no color, and behind one of the towers, close to a rift that spits two very high level wulvers, a little white thing on the ground, which looks like faye's signs, but in white... i don't know who made these, but in the gow ragnarok trailer, you can see the markings in places are now white... what that does mean??? second thing is, when you enter fafnir's storeroom, you have to fight in 4 different rooms to find the keys to enter the main room, there you will find the father who was stabbed in the back by his son, ok... what i find funny is, in every one of rooms you find a statue of an animal, one there's a falcon, in the other there's a wolf, then a bear, then a stag... cool
    we know now that these animals represent some people, the falcon represents faye, the wolf represents atreus, and the bear is kratos, but who is the stag?(for some reason i thought týr), and the coolest shit is, in the main room, the room where the father got betrayed, there are some goats statues outside (mimir?), i might be reaching too far, BUT, this can be a hint that mimir will betray us in ragnarok? i personaly don't think so, but i will leave that information there for yall to think about.
