I feel like Atreus should go on to do his own thing. There’s so much you could do with him now. Like for instance looking more into why his mother names him Loki and what it means. But I feel like him going on that journey without kratos makes more since if he’s ever going to truly grow up and be an adult. Whereas kratos can move on to another pantheon

As an archery instructor, I can tell you that there’s also a practical reason for Atreus’s quiver moving down to his hip. While both back and hip quivers were historically worn, the back quiver basically looks cool in the movies while the hip quiver makes for a faster reload of your next arrow. While also leaving room for a potential new weapon as you said @kaptainkuba
True but quiver on the back looks cooler if the bow is your only weapon, to make everything symmetrical and etc i think he's right a new weapon incoming even if it's not the axe.
What if Midgard and all the realms look like the end of gow3 where it’s dark smoke and thunderstorms everywhere? A post apocalyptic free roam with mimir and atreus reacting to the new environment would be insane.
Problem is, if everything is destroyed, how do you do the sidequests? Not saying it is impossible but it would feel a bit weird every single sidequest working normally while the entire world is destroyed

If they do that, they’d most likely end up putting a prompt while continuing the storyline, such as, “By continuing through this door, you fully accept the consequences of Ragnorök. If you look at 4:41 you can see a little S-shaped hook on Atreus' back. Kratos has a small omega-shaped hook on his back which holds his axe. Considering that they moved Atreus' quiver down to his waist, maybe the S-shaped hook is there to hold some new weapon.
I think it would be better to do something like in Arkham City, being able to switch between Kratos and Atreus at certain places(maybe Brok and Sindri's shops) and having complete liberty with which of the two you use
Since before the release of GOW 2018, Barlog kept saying this was gonna be the new "trilogy", and now they're saying this game will end the Norse saga, not be the final game in the new GOW series. So maybe Kratos leaving the Norse realm to go to some other one could lead to the final game of the trilogy? Maybe Kratos ends up in another pantheon like the Egyptian one, and Atreus starts traveling the realms to discover who Loki is like he said in the trailer. Maybe game #3 would be their reunion after so many years apart, and the game would have Last of Us vibes with the father and son spending the whole game trying to make amends with each other. If the 1st new GOW game was about making the father/son bond with an estranged family member, the 2nd might be about breaking it since Atreus is a moody teen, and the 3rd could be them healing and really getting over all the things they've had to do to get to that point since Atreus is grown and thinks more like an adult. Idk, that's what this video got me thinking, plus I just want it to be a trilogy.

I like the idea of Atreaus getting the axe. Btw. reason for relocation of his quiver is also a practical one, as it has been pointed out by professionals that usage of bow is faster when arrows are on hips instead of back,as it makes drawing them easier and faster
angrboda having as big an effect as pandora did in gow 3? I can see it happening, maybe just without the sacrificing her to a big scary flame.. but, I can see kratos taking angrboda under his own roof
An alternate gameplay theory: how about, having Atreus being able to “time to time carry” different weapons on his back that Kratos can cycle through. Also gives an opportunity to use different weapons in different ways, maybe like Atreus was able to fight with the axe when Kratos went into the light of Alfiem, Atreus can have and upgrade some axe skills as well.. or even Kratos gets to use the bow and arrow like previous games, with or without the animal summons..
I think they’ll do something like the nightfall protocol in Batman Arkham knight. Like kratos will only leave to Egypt or whatever until you complete the game 100%
We already see the bow holstered in the free space you pointed out. Also, there are already segments of GOW 2018 that We have no AI companion, Wildwoods opening, First fight with Baldur, the entire journey back to the house and Helheim, gameplay is mostly unaffected. Sure it will be sad having a Square button that does nothing but that will only further highlight the pain of Atreus/Loki leaving as it will have just as big of gameplay effect as it will emotional effect on Kratos. Also, the (Cosmetic only) designation on the white snow/darkdale attire for Atreus indicates that Atreus’s armor sets will have no effect on gameplay like they did in GOW 2018, think of it like Dutch’s tent in RDR2, the devs don’t want the player spending money thinking they’ll make Atreus stronger in combat because the devs know Atreus will not be around for a good portion of the story and the post game. In my opinion, Atreus and Angrboda will have grown older and had their children together while separated from Kratos and after a final fight with Thor, Atreus/Loki will take his family and leave since from his perspective, it’s been years since he’s seen his father and he has responsibilities to his wife/children and cannot allow Kratos in his life.
While I'm not certain whether or not Atreus will be playable or not in God of War Ragnarok, what I am expecting from Ragnarok is for Atreus to be able to do more than just shoot 3 arrows and do 1 special attack. My idea right now is for God of War Ragnarok to do something similar to what Batman Arkham Knight did. For people that played Arkham Knight, they're aware that this game had several missions where you as Batman got to team up with Batman's sidekicks like Robin and Nightwing, as well as Catwoman. During these missions, whenever you're in combat, you could switch between Batman and his sideckicks by performing combos and takedowns on enemies together with the sidekicks. I think it would be cool if we could do something like this in Ragnarok, where we switch between Kratos and Atreus by performing combos and kills together (imagine how cool and creative the kill animations could be). Imo, this would add so much to the combat of Ragnarok, as well as any boss battles in the game.
I’m wondering if Atreus will have the ability to use spartan rage as well. I don’t think Kratos and Atreus are going to separate, but I think angraboda is going to either help them leave Midgard or kind of get Atreus’ focus on who Loki is. But if he finds out his purpose to be the protector of giants and the Aesir are dead then what’s his point in staying. Kratos leaving doesn’t seem like something he would do unless they were forced to I mean does he really want to live like in the comics again and start all over
I think like that too. In my opinion, in game, at some certain point, the scenario will seperate two perspective, and than at final or close to the final, they will come together again.
I would love for them to continue with kratos and have Atreus go his separate way when he gets older. Having Atreus show up to help his father later on in some other story would be awesome. Even give him his own games. While continuing god of war
Atreus could expand his abilities as he learns more about his powers and controlling them as a god. It may be that how he had a brief moment of his own spartan rage that he could truly control it.
I can't really see them completely let go of Kratos. Maybe like you said they split up at the end of the game and we get an Atreus game the way you described it. I think they'll see what people think of it and make another gow game in which you can play both as Atreus and Kratos, maybe even a co op game. I think that would add a lot of potential puzzle, and tactical gameplay options.

Omg this would actually be amazing now that i think about it. Imagine the cliffhanger when Kratos leaves the norse realm, but we don't know where he goes, and then we're put to play as Atreus. I think it would be a clever way to tie the story to the next game in the series, which would likely (following this theory) take place wherever Kratos went.

I don't think so. The Blades of Chaos suits Kratos perfectly, Lore and Gameplay-wise. They were once part of him, thats why he is so used to them. Atreus would never squeeze their full power.

Gow 2018's big surprise was the blades of chaos. Getting to play as loki will be the sequel's bombshell. It opens up a whole new world of Mechanics and features and if well designed, Its gonna blow everyone's minds. I think thats why they needed more time to develope the game. And i should add the fact that every gow ever made has at least added one new weapon to the franchise. So don't be worried about Atreus being boring in fights. I'm sure they know what they're doing👌
I think a nice way to introduce the idea of making Atreus playable is to, as you said, split up in the middle of the game by a fight or so (Atreus wanting to be along the Aesir and Kratos not). And then we'll play a bit with Kratos and what he's up to and then somehow we'll jump to Atreus and play as him. Something like The Witcher: Wild Hunt did with Geralt and Ciri. I think that's atleast a nice way to introduce Atreus as playable.
I think there’s gonna be a section where Kratos gets severely injured and we’ll have to briefly play as Atreus. Kinda like in first last of us when Joel got impaled and we had to play as Ellie
Also heres where it can get really complicated, what if Atraus's mother made sacrifices to die earlier so that Atraus had a better chance at survival because remember baldur comes looking for her and not only that but Kratos mentions hes too young and boy multiple times through the series
as much as i do think having atreus as a playable charter in a segment or something like "theres a chest behind this thing but only atreus can fit' sorta thing' would be cool i think a whole game would be a little much for me

If you look at atreus’s armor in god of war (2018) on his waist and pay good attention you will see that he has kratos’s spartan/Greek skirt wrapped around him
As an archer moving the quill for arrows to the hip it’s more realistic it allows for faster grab and shoot having it on his back was one of the things that annoyed me when compared to the speed you could shoot them at
here's an idea i have , Santa Monica and eventually Matt Sophos ( the write of GoW Ragnarok ) should write and a side story about atreus's adventure and Kratos is kinda idk maybe the one who gives quests in his journey .
Do you think that we may come across a full fledged adult Atreus in God of War: Ragnarok, via time travel? I ask this due to Mimir's story surrounding Jormundgandr and Fenrir, given how from a normal standpoint, neither one of them have been born. While Mimir has clear and detailed information on them, that seems to span years. Jormundgandr came from the future, and at least one of his fights with Thor, caused him travel back in time. While Fenrir, seemingly has been changed up by Odin, and the other Aesir, for an unspecified number of years, to say the least.
That has always been my theory; Kratos and Atreus will get separated near the final battle, only for adult Atreus to join Kratos and initiate Ragnarok.
Idk why but i have this idea that if kratos dies, brok and sindri will craft the blades into one single weapon for atreus to use. Like a spear of some sort, that has the two blades on each of it. It would look really cool

There will be support spirit animals maybe instead of arrows, maybe his staff whilst being animal spirit-like, shooting magic bolts, or ranged melee is my guess. Hell also do more acrobatic but very gritty wrestler and throw-body type attacks in his rage mode.

Atreus is just the name Kratos chose to name him, not what his mother named him or a mantle he assumes as he gains full power.

Omg this would actually be amazing now that i think about it. Imagine the cliffhanger when Kratos leaves the norse realm, but we don't know where he goes, and then we're put to play as Atreus. I think it would be a clever way to tie the story to the next game in the series, which would likely (following this theory) take place wherever Kratos went.

The Blades of Chaos suits Kratos perfectly, Lore and Gameplay-wise.
They were once part of him, thats why he is so used to them. Atreus would never squeeze their full power.

Gow 2018's big surprise was the blades of chaos. Getting to play as loki will be the sequel's bombshell. It opens up a whole new world of Mechanics and features and if well designed, Its gonna blow everyone's minds. I think thats why they needed more time to develope the game. And i should add the fact that every gow ever made has at least added one new weapon to the franchise. So don't be worried about Atreus being boring in fights. I'm sure they know what they're doing👌
I think a nice way to introduce the idea of making Atreus playable is to, as you said, split up in the middle of the game by a fight or so (Atreus wanting to be along the Aesir and Kratos not). And then we'll play a bit with Kratos and what he's up to and then somehow we'll jump to Atreus and play as him. Something like The Witcher: Wild Hunt did with Geralt and Ciri. I think that's atleast a nice way to introduce Atreus as playable.
I think there’s gonna be a section where Kratos gets severely injured and we’ll have to briefly play as Atreus. Kinda like in first last of us when Joel got impaled and we had to play as Ellie
Also heres where it can get really complicated, what if Atraus's mother made sacrifices to die earlier so that Atraus had a better chance at survival because remember baldur comes looking for her and not only that but Kratos mentions hes too young and boy multiple times through the series
Honestly though, a spin-off series “Son of War” could actually be really good, if done correctly
as much as i do think having atreus as a playable charter in a segment or something like "theres a chest behind this thing but only atreus can fit' sorta thing' would be cool i think a whole game would be a little much for me

@@KaptainKuba yes atreus and angrboda would be ruling the norse pantheon but never moved in seek of anything else as they felt the need to start something better (hence the beginning if civilisations in the norse pantheon, but it could be kratos coming back for atreus's help for the egyptian or whichever pantheon because of his age...or atreus seeking out his father wondering if his still alive

If you look at atreus’s armor in god of war (2018) on his waist and pay good attention you will see that he has kratos’s spartan/Greek skirt wrapped around him
As an archer moving the quill for arrows to the hip it’s more realistic it allows for faster grab and shoot having it on his back was one of the things that annoyed me when compared to the speed you could shoot them at
here's an idea i have , Santa Monica and eventually Matt Sophos ( the write of GoW Ragnarok ) should write and a side story about atreus's adventure and Kratos is kinda idk maybe the one who gives quests in his journey .
Do you think that we may come across a full fledged adult Atreus in God of War: Ragnarok, via time travel? I ask this due to Mimir's story surrounding Jormundgandr and Fenrir, given how from a normal standpoint, neither one of them have been born. While Mimir has clear and detailed information on them, that seems to span years. Jormundgandr came from the future, and at least one of his fights with Thor, caused him travel back in time. While Fenrir, seemingly has been changed up by Odin, and the other Aesir, for an unspecified number of years, to say the least.
That has always been my theory; Kratos and Atreus will get separated near the final battle, only for adult Atreus to join Kratos and initiate Ragnarok.

Idk why but i have this idea that if kratos dies, brok and sindri will craft the blades into one single weapon for atreus to use. Like a spear of some sort, that has the two blades on each of it.

I think itd be dope if after ragnarok atreus and kratos go seperate ways and we get like 2 or 3 side games as him and then eventually bring them back together and make it so theres parts that your atreus and parts your kratos i might get hate on this but and make a multiplayer side of the game were you can choose who you want to play with i honestly think that would be kind of cool

There will be support spirit animals maybe instead of arrows, maybe his staff whilst being animal spirit-like, shooting magic bolts, or ranged melee is my guess.
Hell also do more acrobatic but very gritty wrestler and throw-body type attacks in his rage mode.
