Nicky, Scolesy any chance of having a chat about when players used to park across from OT and walk through the crowd to the tunnel entrance. Ive told stories to many of my friends about meeting both of you guys, keano, eric, gary and phil, andrei, neil webb, les sealy, sparky, choccy etc as a kid and in to my early teens and alot of my friends cant comprehend that fans could get so close to and interact with players, and they will never get that feeling of actually being the 12th man. when you talk to player and guarantee them your utmost support before a game and they guarantee to perform to the best of their abilities, it makes the noise from the stand so much more meaningful and makes the success taste so much better.

I'll tell you how good that 99 team were. I was living in Spain at the time. And the following year the final was between Real Madrid and Valencia. Just prior to that game Marca had a centre spread where they asked all La Liga's managers certain questions. One was 'Who is the best team in Europe'?
There were in total 18 managers. 2 of them said that they did not have enough knowledge as to to who were the best. 2 others said 'Well, the team that wins the cup is the best'.
That left 14 managers. Eight voted for Manchester United - far and away the biggest. Indeed one of the 4 who did not pick a team was Javier Irureta, manager of Deportivo la Coruna, and I know he was a big, big fan of that team.

This is low key such a funny podcast. Nicky Butt casually dropping in as an aside: "remember when I used to get concussion a lot..." 🤣🤣🤣 Love this series.

As a lifelong liverpool fan born in 1981 i didnt imagine my 2 favourite personalities in ex players would be nicky butt and paul scholes. Great humble lads could listen to their views and stories all day.
Btw i knew i would always dislike gary neville 😅

I attended Benfica 2005, AC Milan 2010 and Madrid 2013. All were amazing atmospheres, but it was deafening at the Benfica game. Last champions league game I went to was Barcalona in 2019.

Dortmund in 1997 was definitely one that got away: battered them twice but couldn’t score, think Butt hit the post from a one-on-one in the first leg.

Great show guys. I'd be interested to hear about the Chelsea final in Moscow, that never seems to get a mention, great goal by CR7 after lovely one touch play between Wes and Scholesy, super cross and towering header. Untimely slip by EVDS to which gave Lampard the split second to get to the ball and poke it in. The Rain and the the penalty drama. A great game against a great team and rival, particularly that season.

I can't stand Man U, but I could listen to these two all day. Straightforward, insightful, getting to the point. Not spending half the time shouting and full of sh1t.
