fuel-efficient at 206 gallons per hour fuel burn collectively?? That's 50 gallons an hour per engine at 66 MPH. Assuming 75% of that at slower speeds, you're still burning 150 gallons an hour.
Hving hydraulics means if need more loading or stability u can extend 2 side arms both sides into water if need more weight caring or better plaining lift capacity esp if using older v hull design. By deploying side arms it gives u a tri hull type set up for speed runs then u can pull arms back in for docking. Or crane arm if u need to swing over something heavy from shore.
@@Bubbles99718 Cha Ching on the Bada Bing.....206 gallons per hour at full tilt. Yes, 66 MPH is most impressive, but even more so is the fuel usage at that speed. 20:34 $1,200 an hour at those speeds if we assume $6.00 a gallon for fuel.
@@Bubbles99718 Of course not, but even if we assume 75% fuel usage at 1/2 throttle (50% throttle ), you'd still be burning about 150 gallons per hour on that vessel. NOT bad for a 50 footer, but still $900 bucks an hour. Of course, everyone says that's nothing for a rich man, but believe me, they care. I'd have to believe that at idle, those 4 engines are collectively burning a gallon a minute.
@@alexnutcasio936 yep. Crazy expensive. Back in '97 I was the 1st mate on a yacht that never went anywhere. But the owner had 5 powerboats attached to it that he would cruise Miami with. Smallest was a 40 foot Magnum, largest was a 70 Cary. 2 2200 hp mtu's with jet drives and 4500 hp Lycoming jet engine hooked up to an Arenson surface drive. Did 70 knots. It would take over 30 minutes of straight pumping to fill up any of those boats, almost an hour for the big boy. The cash burn was insane to run these monsters

I was a Formula owner for 18 years. Dream boat was a pre-hardtop 400SS. I think the hardtop makes it look top heavy and out of proportion. Takes away from the long sleek lines of the former designs. Sorry, just can't make myself like it.
I find it annoying that ob's are better in most every way from a stern drive. For 2 reasons: aesthetics and an open deck out back. Stern drive beats them there. OB's cost, initial and running, ease of maintenance, power to weight, running and handling improvements due to placement benefits all smoke inboards. Hard to argue the practicality benefits of OB's.
My brother had a 20 foot boat with a 150 Merc on the back. That thing sucked gas like there was no tomorrow. Hate to think what four 600 hp. beats drink!
Hydraulic power can power saws & trenchers in construction or crane arms & back how arms so good digging working power unit designed for heavy loading, & boat can do the same long hrs heavy loading tow low maintenance mode.
I never see longer than 811ish miles Houston to Cancun type run 1 way at speed 50-55 mph + on gas. Then u can still limp some where on work mode on propane/diesel pump, & huge work prop.
this is close only thing I heard diff was low speed mode running hydraulic giant prop off a power unit that is in board, for under 25-29 mph slow or under heavy load work. The cat hulls r far safer & more stable & faster design. 2 make room for giant work low speed prop the boat would hve to b a bit wider or not hve nice room on each side of 4 motors. Above 25/29mph the large work prop drags too much so it tilts up out of water. Nice hving 2 diff motors in case 1 won't start u hve a spare design. Same bad fuel would b bad so the hydraulic might run on diesel instead of gas again for redundancy of fuel
The diesel is big in board pump long hrs go to work horse & outboards r max power & speed runs on gas. Whether ever u go can fill up on something. Diesel can run on propane easy enough set up too.
The diesel giant work prop power unit should get 2 or 2.5 gals per mile at 25-29mph economy mode, then u can switch to race mode running gas, 50-55 mph normal crusing type loading under full wt loading max type carry wt of hull.

A single v12 cat with a twin disc gear box and kamma surface drive gives room for a dingy storage and with a bigger bow cabin
