Literally what I been waiting to see out of the seaboard. I didnt know this was popular. This will be a lot more popular for the hardware guys now.

I just ordered a Seaboard (Songmaker Kit) today. Just were looking for an introduction on how to use it with a hardware synth. So, this video is very helpful! Thanks a lot.

Thanks! Their synth sounds are great and in terms of price until recently there wasn’t any real competition. Would be interesting to compare to the ContinuuMini coming soon

For anyone looking at this in 2021… a new way of connecting wireless is using a WIDI jack or WIDI host... I have a jack and connects to both my lumi and seaboard block with literally no lag... Its been pretty amazing these last days just playing my modular with a keyboard, no cables going from the keys to the case 😁😁

Thanks for the informative video! Have you heard about Axoloti? Not only could you use it as an MPE synth, it could also function as a Midi USB host. And it's cheaper than either Kenton or Hobbytronics (if you ignore that it comes as a naked circuitboard...)

hi! thanks for the video. I'm thinking to buy the seaboard and I wonder if I'll be able to connect it on my Behringer model D directly via usb without passing by a usb/midi host. I've seen you know that synth (I've seen your video on model D as well). Did you try it with the seaboard?
    thanks

Hi! I just want to thank you for this tutorial. I have been wondering how you can set up a roli seaboard block with a synth and this video practically covers everything, so thanks! However I wanted to know what synthesizers can pair up with the roli seaboard block that have MPE control. So if you can, please leave suggestions.

    • @marech21

Thanks, I'm also wondering if you experimented any lag/latency/delay within this method. I read that midi din is no fast enough to tranmist correctly mpe signals, that's why roli put only usb on theirs devices.

  • @troublesomecorsair

Ah! So you could control 3 Mothers with the Seaboard using multiple Midi Channels. I do this with the KMI Qunexus, but the Seaboard would be a nice alternative.

Any tips on getting this work with the Matriarch? I got it running as a basic controller, but no glide/bend. EDIT: got it working. I had restricted the bend range to one semitone on the Matriarch for a previous patch.

One thing I don't get with Roli stuff. When you set everything up in the Roli dashboard(midi channels, sensitivity..), does it remeber those settings inside the seaboard so you can use it without computer?

Alan Noto it's just the way things are. You need a computer iPhone or USB midi host in the middle
