    not being able to deadlift 500 lbs? who cares? I doubt he does, I know many muscular guys who can't...I don't see that as having any relevance whatsoever.

      @@JasonBlaha Jason I would challenge you in the bench and I'm 57 years old I believe I can keep up with you if not exceed your left in the bench.and that is without having my back leave the bench having it completely flat on the bench with my feet up in the air.yet I struggle with a 405 deadlift but I also have a partial knee replacement and spinal stenosis. I never trained for the deadlift my whole lift .but I used to pick up very heavy dumbbells and do a lot of benching with dumbbells. And from that I have split my abdomen open called the diastasis recti unnoticeable when I stand up only when I do a sit-up you can see itphotos.app.goo.gl/oBVD7yUvD6hy56ug7

    I doubt his pause max is 315. Someone who can max bench 315 for 1 rep paused is not capable of do doing 365 by bouncing it off their chest. Try it out and I bet you won't get nowhere. Plus his bench press was 365 was pretty fast, no struggle off the chest or the middle. Yes, I know it was a bounce of his chest press, but come on, he can do more than 315 paused, Jason.

      Jason thinks he can pause bench for 1 rep between 300 and 315...lol Look at how fast he was able to move the weight off his chest. By that alone, you can tell he's capable of pause benching more than 315lbs...

    Aside from the drugs to get in shredded shape while holding onto size he just hasn’t trained for strength and power... You take a bodybuilder like Dana Lin Bailey and give her time on a powerlifting program and what do you get? Someone conditioning their strength so that they can compete in a powerlifting meet. Her CNS is now programmed to handle higher percentages and heavier loads. Soooo I would just assume that Jeremy is not conditioned for powerlifting as of now.

    A lot of it is down to the fact that to get your typical steroid using "Bro'" bodybuilder to simply do,say,a strict full range standing press or squat is surprisingly difficult,everything right from the get-go is done in terrible form and for a partial movement or several movements where one would be enough.
    In a nutshell,few of them ever really learn to train progressively with sensible programming,so simply rely on upping the dose.

    I'm 57 and I can bench 375 lbs for 3 reps.but I struggle with four plates for a deadlift but I also have spinal stenosis every rep is like pain to my body. I would never go past that I do not want to be in a wheelchair. My point is this no matter how strong you are and it deadlift or any wait for that matter. You are only that strong for your prime years.you must be in it for the long run so lower your weight and save your bodies that is my advice

  • @robertlulek1634

    PS to follow up on my previous post I also have a partial knee replacement in my left leg. Remember young man be in it for the long run go heavy but don't try to go past what you can do comfortably. I am paying the price now torn rotator cups that have been surgically repaired. Spinal stenosis. All kinds of arthritic conditions. Knee replacement. And my abdomen split what is called a diastasis recti. I believe I got that from doing a hundred sixty pound dumbbell presses which I used to do religiously

    Some people are just genetically prone to have thicker bones and bigger muscle bellies than others while some athletes are naturally very slender. The person who understands the science of building strength the best way will be the better athlete. Genetic potential is just part of the equation.

    Hey Jason, I have somewhat limited experience, since I've been a nerd most of my life. I recently started getting into sports and I found that I gain the most real practical sense of strength inside and out when I train really hard everyday. My stronger friends who go to the gym and focus on the gym as their sport really only spend maybe 5, at the most 10 hours a week in exercise. I am convinced they'll get larger faster like you're saying. I tried it though and like you're saying my body doesn't learn anything.

    This is interesting. Would it be correct to deduce one could use low to moderate levels of AAS to achieve a high strength potential while remaining much smaller?
    That seems to be true with testosterone extrapolating from the dose response studies, but what about other compounds?

    Jason i've always had problems with my elbow whenever i was doing any isolation tricep work . never seems to have any problem with doing big exercises like bench and OHP only.
    i started one of your programs which has you do both OHP and BENCH on the same day 3 times a week. I started feeling my elbows a day after every one of my workouts so i took a few days break and changed back into your novice program(i'm a noob). but the pain is still in my elbows after i train, even tho i don't really grind or anything.. do u suggest me to go an expert and not train until then? or maybe should i try something else first like rest a month from the gym and see if the pain still there?
    Ty for you time and hopefully u can respond or even make a video about it since other people will just put elbows sleeves and keep training...

    • @Envek1
      @Envek1 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Gal although I’m not sure what the source your problem could be, I’ve noticed that sometimes a certain type of dumbbell/barbell will put more strain on my bones/ cause muscle pains than another type. An example I could give is typical circular weights at the gym work great for me where as hex dumbbells from Walmart cause pains that aren’t otherwise there when using gym weights. Same with barbells at gym vs typical Walmart ones.

    If progressive overload is a good way to gain muscle why dont people who are enhanced focus on that rather than a bunch of isolation movements ??
    And how come a person on gear is able to grow just by doing a bunch of isolations rather than someone is who natural ??
    Someone explain this

    • @JasonBlaha
      @JasonBlaha  7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      To answer your question, they don't know any better. If you are trying to be a pro bodybuilder and 10 pro bodybuilders tell you "train to get a pump bro!" and you have no background knowledge in training that is what you will do. If they are using drugs it works great, they get big and just pass it on. Bodybuilding circles have a massive disconnect from strength & conditioning and exercise science circles.

    • @xghosthazardx
      @xghosthazardx 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ian Davison im generalizing because thats what it seems like to me with ifbb pros, you barely hear pro bodybuilders that are enhanced talking about progressive overload.
      Im not saying that all of them dont do it, its just something that I notice and wanted to know more information thats all.

      They don't want to put in the effort to lift heavy weights. Rather, they just want to pump blood into specific muscles to bring them up.

    Hi Jason I was wondering if about “progression” and how to progress if your someone who uses db for the majority of their workout so they need to progress in weights of 5s. Would they need to add a rep or a set Until they’ve completed a full set of x reps they’ve been using or increase a rep for every set by 1? OR increase the weight and lose a rep or two for their last 2 sets??? can your please explain?
