    Being strong isn't getting him a paycheck. If he can lift lighter and safer and get the paycheck that's all that counts.

    • @JasonBlaha
      @JasonBlaha  6 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      I grasp what you are saying. His day to day workouts vs $$$ earned... totally understandable. However he still wasn't able to lift when it was actually put to the test and in this case a $ amount based on what he could lift for a charity.

      Yeah, unless you're a top placer in the men's open you don't win much. Even at that level, as much as they spend (on food, drugs, etc), you would either need to have a side business or do like Kai Greene did last year and compete in several major shows (Arnold classics) every year and collect the paychecks. He was smart to do that.

    It baffles me that people can go to the gym and not care about strength at all why not be 'aesthetic' and strong? But hey each to their own.

    Bodybuilding is about how you look and you are judged based on that. How strong you are has no relevance.

    • @JasonBlaha

      I run a fitness channel, I judge people on how strong they are if they have been training for years. If you come to a fitness channel expect fitness opinions.

    Probably just a bad day. I have pulled 500 numerous times now, but I do have bad/off days occasionally where I go in and that weight doesn't want to move. Hopefully this video gets around to him and he gets in the gym on a good day and pulls it to fix this all up.

    It is pretty pathetic strength levels for a young guy on tons of gear but what else do you expect in this day and age?
    Obviously it signifies a total reliance on drugs for his development and conditioning.
    I saw a video of heavyweight Boxer Tyson Fury deadlifting 550lbs,he does tons of road work and conditioning with scant regard to strength work.
    This Buendia guy should be ashamed of himself seeing as he makes his living from weight training.

  • @davidsitarek4107

    500lbs deadlift no belt is pretty impressive, I wouldn't say thats the norm at all....

  • @theMxko
    @theMxko 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I actually totally agree with this. these ppl train with half reps and straps knee wraps ect. And rely almost completly on dugs with the only determining factor on wether they get stronger or not is their drug dosage not the training
    And i see this in every gym i go to with some exemptions of course when you see it the streangth gap between the one who use good form , proper programing and the ones who dont is HUGE just like jason talked about.

  • @rainman11985

    I would guess a wide pelvis is advantageous to Deadlifts. It's a per-requesite for 'Physique' competitors to have tiny waists ie narrow pelivs. I actually think some of these physique guys look more 'freakish' and unnatural than Heavyweight bodybuilders with their stick like waist and super wide shoulders.

      @jonlee6774 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Looks like a lot of people disagree with you. Muscles don’t always equal strength...look at some power lifters - some aren’t very muscular at all.

    • @cenen7021
      @cenen7021 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      ''Muscle size doesn't necessarily correlate with strength'' WTF :D it doesnt matter even glycogen can give you strength, muscle size and mass will give you a lot of strength in every situation. If you train strength you only have a little cns adaptation advantage over muscle nothing more. Majority of their strength coming from their muscle mass. its muscle that giving you strength. Low weight class powerlifters are genetic outliars for this situation.They are strong with minimum muscle mass because of they have maximum efficient leverages for big 3 with minimum weight. They build little amount of muscle when they get significantly stronger. if you are juicing wisely you should get strong as fuck. A lot of these bodybuilders dont know how to train and they are getting less gains from shitloads of juice they are wasting juice. this is the point of this video i think.

  • @plops993
    @plops993 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    The thing I wrestle with when I think of strength vs aesthetics is when is strength really going to come into play in every day life? The only time I've wished for more strength for household tasks was when we had to take down an awkward-shaped 350lb anvil from the flatbed of a truck. But even then, we devised a cable system to lower it to the ground with pulleys. Maybe during a fight, right? But then again, if I'm getting jumped by multiple people or someone much bigger I might just go for a weapon to survive. We all want to be strong but really we can go years without ever using it....

    To be fair as someone who wants to compete in Physique next year & someone who could be potentially biased towards Jeremy, I was pretty appalled at his lifts. I pulled 550 at 200lbs while looking like I barely lift and I'm not a powerlifter so I'm baffled why he's so weak

    • @ThePitPony
      @ThePitPony 6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Its because he takes tons of drugs and his body (luckily for him) responds well to them,this in no way indicates any sporting talent or knowledge,it's entirely down to how his body handles hormonal drugs.

    let's start by saying that I am in no way a Jeremy fan at all. i really personay dont care for the guy. that being said who gives a shit about his deadlift. he has some of the best aesthetics and why would he want to focus on extremely heavy core movements? who knows...nobody but him walks in his shoes...maybe it just doesn't justify the risk to reward ratio for him or could give him a wider waist by pushing to heavy on them. he seems to be pretty strong on a lot of other lifts. it's how he trains and it's what works for him. I bet most of the people talking shit and commenting about him can't even bench what he can anyways.. look I am just tired of all the negativity in this industry. people are always looking for a flaw in someone else to exploit and bad mouth....if they put that much energy into their training and diet they might not look like such bloated bags of shit...real weightlifter and bodybuilders don't sit around shit talking on others...they lift! and some of the best ones seem to be extremely humble at that.

    jason you do know that the person is competing in a "sport" sorry to call it like that, or let me say it in a place where the outcome of the winner is to have the best aesthetics. would you judge powerlifters or weight lifters in not having well develop body parts such as bodybuilders? would you judge floyd mayweather or David Beckham for not lifting a 500 pound deadlift even though they are tremendous athletes?

    • @JasonBlaha
      @JasonBlaha  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I made my point very clearly in the video. Did you not grasp my point at all? I would expect David Beckham, someone who does a LOT of conditioning work, to have good stamina even though his sport isn't being a marathon runner. Powerlifters and athletes ARE judged by their aesthetics online every day. People make videos discussing my aesthetics and I am anti-bodybuilding completely. How is it unfair for me to do this the other direction?

Filming everything for their physiques capabilities.... to be judged (surprise).... It's just what they sign up for, mentally, and physically. • @a5dollars

    For one, he does not train for strength as much as he does for hypertrophy and I would be willing to bet that he never really goes heavy on deadlifts, EVER. Two, he benches over 405, so he is not weak. If you take a look at his body composition, he does not have a body made to be great at deadlifts... Short arms in length and he weighs like 190lbs.

I don't know when you've began trt replacement, so how many years have you trained 100% natural?? A lot of times i agree with a lot of things you say jason but when you begin putting your ego in the mix, it's quiet disappointing and you start loosing credibility which a shame because you are an intelligent guy. Putting someone down by highlighting your strong points jason is typical gear using individual. Disappointed.

      I was totally natural when I pulled that 455 my first time trying the lift.

      Jason didnt you say before you only trained like 9 months natural and then went straight to steroids? Learn to keep your stories straight you fat idiot, you didnt deadlift 455 naturally and you sure as hell didnt lift that on your first time deadlifting.

    If having a big deadlift makes you happy then so be it, no one except TH-cam fuckheads care about what you lift and for certain everyone else doesn’t care how much of a hero you think you are. Truth is if Buendia trained specifically for a 500lb deadlift im sure he would have no issue doing that weight.

    • @JasonBlaha
      @JasonBlaha  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Is he trained specifically for the deadlift he should hit 600+ no problem at his current size, hence why failing 500 for charity is laughable and shows how piss poor the training of guys like him really is... he is all drugs.

    That's why jeremy buendia has a nicer body that you do, jason. The dead-lift is the most idiotic exercise in the universe, crouching to pull weight off the ground is akin to picking up furniture ,and every person who does this for a living suffers tremendously from back and spine problems . A characteristic of having a well rounded ripped physique is having an adequate posture ,and once you add back problems to your posture and to an extend your physique take a toll. Also, the more muscled your are , the more effort your body is going to do to maintain stability and muscle recruitment for the deadlift, which requires those two things.
    Also, considering the relative nature of "strength" you can't call the guy weak, cause his picking up furniture strength is sub-par. There is climbing strength, stretching strength, climbing strength, running strength, etc. We know the guy is on steroids, and that offers him a tremendous shortcut and less effort to look that way ,but calling the guy weak cause can't deadlift, you are literally looking for reasons to slander him. Informative jason blaha= good ; Slandering jason blaha= bad

      Why can't you just let me hate on this g4p industry and accept it at face value? lol

      Another idiot that doesn't know his ass from his elbow....There is so much wrong with your reasoning i really don't know where to start,suffice to say that if you think deadlifts automatically cause bad problems you really are out to lunch.

    • @reeyees50
      @reeyees50 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can hate all you want ,but remember those g4p people have body dismorphia and a letany physcological problems, the male version of female anorexics. Picking up on someone with problems, does make one feel a lil bad in the end of the day.

    • @reeyees50
      @reeyees50 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't think deadlifts automatically will cause bad problems ,but comparatively very heavy weights might. 500 is a lot, some people might be able to pull it no prob, some might be able to work themselves to it, but the majority of people just simply can't. If the majority of people can't pull a deadlift at that weight, perhaps it might be that nature never intended us to that in the first place.

      fuck this echo chamber bullshit, you guys know what blaha is up to slandering people as usual. You guys have enough common sense to know that when something hurts your body and its been cause of others hurting themselves as well, then its pretty obvious whats the cause of it. Stop suiting your knowledge and experience so that you can ego lift brag about the 20lb increase on your deadlift PR, when in reality its slowly breaking your spine.
