  • The Polaris RANGER XP Kinetic is all-electric and all-awesome. I tested it out and toured the Alabama factory where they're produced. Check it out, or read more about it over on Electrek at: electrek.co/?p...

This is today! 5 years from now this will be the norm and range will be significantly higher.
I own an EV and love it. I also have converted to all electric yard tools. Mower, weed whip, leaf blower, chainsaw and so on.
Seriously, the lower maintenance and the fact I can just simply plug in a recharge is a game changer. No more changing oil or having to have gas cans around. It's simply a no brainer.

You can buy a new tractor, lawnmower, room full of tools, a new snowblower, AND a UTV SXS for the price of this thing. Was it made to sell to the Govt?

Love the lack of noise compared to an ICE unit.

Unless I missed it, there was a lot of details left out. Battery size options, motor arrangement, range, charging, regen. The written article addresses some of this, so for anyone else looking like me, follow the link in the description to get more details.

14.9 kWh. So you better not have a large farm to patrol. Comes with double that for $7500+.
Sometimes a video is more about hype and vibe than about informing. Especially when the manufacturer covers a lot of "expenses".

Well, you missed it...40 mile or 80 mile range depending on the configuration. Listen much?

It's now almost November 2023 and this vid is 4 months old. I just went to Polaris' web site and the current prices are $30k and $37.5k. That's RIDICULOUS, you could buy a brand new Tacoma for that kind of money. The other strange thing is I couldn't find a SINGLE owner review on TH-cam.

    • @matriximaster
      @matriximaster 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

No kidding. This thing is double what it's worth. On top of that you can not even charge it with conventional systems.

My park district is starting to replace/supplement John Deere Gators with these Rangers. Rolling around the park in a quiet EV is a million times better! I had to wear hearing protection suitable for the firing range on the Gator. I need to test the range on our trails to see which tasks still need ICE.

Unbelievably the best compared to the Chinese model but batteries are changing and hopefully less dramatic maintenance

Pretty cool. The noise of ATVs is pretty obnoxious so this is pretty appealing. Though I couldn't help but think when seeing those drone shots of the front of the factory that they could really benefit from a conversion from all that useless and ecologically dead turfgrass to a native wildflower/grass savannah!

Can we get a real comparison with the electric to a gas on use on the ranch (how does it really compare towing, etc. I can read the stats but lets see it at use), how easy it is to set up a home charger or do we need home/ranch modifications, how fast it can charge with a 50amp, 30amp and the house outlet, does it require a different charger than an electric car some owners might have - say a Tesla? How much usage on an average day on the ranch. That will give some idea on the amount of electrical draw to recharge, i.e.e the daily cost comparison to gas. It may be better overall but if it raises the daily cost to operate on an already tight agriculture budget then I'd like to know that up front. Also an extended hunt/camp trip to show how long the charge lasts in the field, how easy it is to recharge it in the field with a generator. The problems encountered, if any, with deep water crossing and crawling. Does this get broken easier? How easy is it to tow out if it does break down, do the wheels lock up or can they freewheel? These may sound like dumb questions but no video is testing these things and other than quiet I'm not really seeing (on the videos) it is giving much difference. Great promo for Polaris but still doesn't really say anything I can read in a sales pamphlet.

I bought one last year, really nice machine but.....if you drive it in the rain or through a puddle it shuts down on internal battery warning. so basically your stuck until the machine dries out.

They have a built in charger, so technically yes you could. Whether it's worth the modding time and amount of power you'd actually get is another issue.

    Thanks for the video.
I do a lot of fence work on very steep pastures with my XP1000. One big draw back it has is the lack of "fine" control...it wants to drift backwards when going from a stop position on a hill. There's often significant drift before figuring out how much gas to give it. Will there be any drift in this situation in a Kinetic?

Listen while he's driving and you can hear the drive train whine,so much so you cant use it for hunting.....and when the cooling fan deploys its even worse. ok to use as a $35k trail rider but dont even think about hunting in it. After a test drive Polaris woulnt tate it back because....."They are all that loud". Fortunately I had an honest dealer......avoid if you want to hunt on it!

No it would work great all day with the larger battery. Few people use a Ranger over 80 miles per day, especially since average speed off-road is always much slower than people think they’re going.

I'm going to have to respectfully disagree with both of you. I am currently on my 2nd BEV. I also have a SxS that I use for mountain riding and organized road rides. 100+ miles plus is nothing for a rec rider. Some rides even require my group to carry fuel cans.
Factor in added weight, steep terrain, and cold weather range loss...this puppy won't cut it. And I should probably mention I have yet to see DC charger in the mountain back country.

@@Mantooth2851Yes this is obviously not made for your very specific (and rare) use scenario.. But for most people it's more than enough.
