How to make scrolling text credits in Camtasia

  • Creating scrolling credits or titles like in the movies is very easy using Camtasia's annotation tool and a little bit of animation. In this tutorial, I am demonstrating how to create scrolling titles in Camtasia, without using an external tool. It works in Camtasia 2019 and Camtasia 2020.
    The scrolling titles can be animated to go up or down, you can change the speed, duration, start and endpoint of the animation and expand it later if you want.
    If you add this animation to your library, you can reuse it in other projects. If the text is too long to edit easily, you can make multiple copies of it and change the text, animate each one individually and make the scrolling text follow the other ones seamlessly for a very long end credits sequence.

      @@Graphicious Thank you! I was also looking for information on what exactly I need to put in closing credits, not just how to make them roll. I know this might be out of scope of these videos, but it might be helpful to include some snipers of what should be included in closing credits for personal videos, for example, that one plans on publishing on the web or for corporate videos and maybe other types of videos. Thanks again!

    • @Graphicious
      @Graphicious  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I suppose it depends on the type of video you made. I think that's why they call them 'credits', so you might want to include the names of those who collaborated on the video, the authors, writers, and so on, as well as perhaps mentioning who did the editing, audio/music. If it's on the web, you could mention credits/names of those who produced any resources you used in the video, such as stock video/photo, for copyright reasons. Sometimes, when you download stock images or video from free or paid sites, they require you to give them credit. Since you can't put links in the video, it's worth mentioning them at the end during the credits. I hope this helps.

    • @Graphicious
      @Graphicious  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      One think I can think of is, make sure you are not also animating the container of the text annotation - the box that holds the text. That can make it jittery, because Camtasia constantly reassesses the space that text has inside that box. So your text box must have a fixed size, you are just moving it vertically.

    Hi from David once again, I was wondering if you know a way to change volume levels of all audio on one track that are not level throughout the whole track on the timeline??

    • @Graphicious
      @Graphicious  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi @David Found, I'm afraid you cannot control the volume of an entire track in Camtasia. Here are some ideas:
      1. If you want to normalize the audio, you can turn on the Auto-normalize function in the project settings. That will make all tracks the same level.
      2. If you have Camtasia 2021, you can do the same on each clip, so Camtasia 2021 has auto-normalize on a clip basis
      3. If you really need to change the audio for an entire track, and you have multiple clips, either change each one, OR EXPORT the audio only, as WAV, re-import and replace the audio. Then the imported WAV will be a single audio track which you can change the level for in one operation.
      Hope these ideas help.

    • @davyfbkk
      @davyfbkk 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Graphicious Thanks very much again. It was what I thought, as I have tried many ways to re-level individual clips on one track. It's just that there was a need to lower levels of some clips then go back and try to re-level all the clips on the one track, without having to go into individual clips and reset the levels. But I am sure Techsmith will fix this soon. Cheers mate.

      Glad it helped. Make sure you have enough framerate on your project (30) and remove the animation easing, make it Linear. Then enough frames between the start and end of the animation. Jumpy could also be an indication of your computer not coping with the animation, performance-wise. Try exporting the video and see if it does the same on the video.

    • @Graphicious
      @Graphicious  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      If the text shifts during the animation, the most likely explanation is that you are modifying the size of the container textbox/annotation, or if you changed the text at the other keyframe. That’s why it’s important that you edit and place your text carefully before you start animating it and not change the textbox animation because that could cause it to rearrange the text as it becomes smaller or larger.

      @@TaiLe-dr5ve You can either make a cover for the bottom and top third or add an annotation rectangle for the middle third and use the Media Matte effect on it, with Alpha. The annotation with Alpha must be above the scrolling credits, and it will mask and clip them to that area. If you are using Camtasia 2021, the Media Matte effect can be used. If you are in Camtasia 2020, the Track Matte effect will achieve the same thing.

    can we use it with image too

    • @Graphicious
      @Graphicious  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, you can, the principle is the same. You export your image with all your text, and make it as tall as you want, then you can use the same idea to 'scroll' the image upwards. There are two downsides to this:
      1. The image is *not editable* , so if you need to make changes to the text, you have to re-export the image, re-import, replace the existing image, etc.
      2. If you need to put anything behind the image, you would have to export it as a PNG with Alpha, otherwise, *you can't see anything through it* .
      It's doable, but the downsides are more than the benefits. The solution shown in my video gives you the most flexibility. You can always make changes to the text, content, colour, font size, you can put anything behind the text AND, it all looks sharp and nice because it is using native text instead of pixels.

  • @TonesOverthinksIt
