Beethoven - "Kurfürsten" Sonata WoO 47 No.2 in F minor (Jamina Gerl) + comments

As Beethoven and I share the same native city of Bonn, I decided to study his compositions from Bonn on the occasion of Beethoven's 250th birthday this year. The second piece is the Piano Sonata WoO 47 No.2 in F minor, which I present in this video and play on the grand piano.

Schade in zweierlei Hinsicht: das letzte Material war doch ziemlich zahm im Vergleich zu Ihrem früheren Glanz, zB. Schumann- Klavierkonzert. Und Ihren Kanal haben Sie nun auch an den Nagel gehängt?

Beethoven hat hier tatsächlich noch nicht das Niveau erreicht, das wir alle mit ihm verbinden. Es ist doch irgendwie beruhigend, dass selbst Beethoven sich seine kompositorische Persönlichkeit als Frühpubertärer noch erarbeiten musste! Die Sonate hat noch Ähnlichkeiten mit Haydn und Clementi.
