In the end, you should do a full cost breakdown with total you spent and total revenue for the video series. Because you wouldn’t have that revenue without the car. Could be very interesting.
A deeper investigation was needed really. If the crank wasn’t scored you could have saved the original motor. The oil in the turbo’s is due to a blockage in the oil ways so it’s probably blown the turbo seals and dumped the oil into them. Please get a specialist to give the new motor a once over. It’s great Ryan is trying to help but these motors are so specialised and technical that you need a specialist. It may be expensive but a damn site cheaper than another motor!!!

@@BigBisalreadytaken yep, true. Copart is so sketchy with engine/run&drive condition. This is the second car "run and drive" that had fatal motor problems I've bought from them, which blew the budget both times.
@Vagtechnic had a blocked dry sump reservoir, he only found out after doing a full rebuild on his twin turbo v10 Audi RS6 recently. He had to cut the reservoir open to diagnose/repair it; it wasn’t sludge, it was component failure. You should check this before running the new engine.
@ on the rs6 it’s a remote reservoir somewhere in the engine bay, the oil is sent to it from the engine’s sump pan. It is then pumped back to the engine under pressure. I don’t know if it’s the same on your car, but it explains why the oil seemed to be disappearing from the engine.
Gotta take the good with the bad, finish it, sell it and move onto better projects, or maybe you'll fall in love with it and keep it, i doubt it though, the memories of this build will out weigh the good of the car i think
I feel you I bought a Mercedes Benz CLS that pretty much totaled and the parts cost so much that I would have gotten the same car pretty much for a little bit more without an accident. It was not a good decision and the car is still not finished 😢
I eatched one of his engines and matt McDonald from the Uk they both had problem with oil cooler or something like that that caused the oil to go the the manifold out the exhaust, doesnt hurt to reach out and ask. Only reason i say this is , i watched the same thing happen to both of them.

Great content as always! Chin up, mate. While the money you spent could have bought a clean-title, lower-mileage one, it doesn’t have a "story." Stories are what sell as a content creator. I wish you all the best and hope you can eventually generate more TH-cam revenue and sponsors as your channel grows to get the return on the car. Looking forward to your next episode!
🇬🇧💥💥💥If you have to sell a few cars and bikes to fix this you wont be wasting money Nicholas! 🔥Your Videos are Awesome!🔥 I am nearly 60 dude and have never driven but im a 25 year ebiker, so i started following you 4 years ago because of your ebike content! 💥💥Your ownership of a Maclaren outweighs your other vehicles! You have Provided us with an excellent repair video which is very interesting! That is why this is worth it! 🤞You hopefully will be grinning soon!👍😁
Mate at least you had a go.which is more than most people.the fact the engine isn’t what you wanted it to be doesn’t mean it’s a lose.
Part out this engine. That way it will eat off the cost of the new engine. Parts on this engine are def not cheap and even in this state, people will still buy the block and other parts in its condition, etc.
Called it last vid. But still wasn’t expecting the timing chain tensioner to be bad let alone snap right in front of you.
This sucks man. Hopefully you can work out a deal for a replacement motor.
😩
Yup, mark it up as "live and learn". Thanks.
Just keep moving forward. I'm way too deep into my Ducati EV conversion that I started after watching your series. Be cool if we could get them finished around the same time and do a ride out, with tears of satisfied regret running down our faces.

I hope in the long run this works out well for your TH-cam channel at least! Lol. Stay positive man! At least you can monetize it a little bit! Also, when you have a catastrophic failure like this, make the titles more click bait. Might as well! Also post some reels with click bait titles as well! Try and pump up your TH-cam numbers whenever it's possible!
Like if you said "My McClaren engine got completely destroyed" you would probably get a lot more clicks from new viewers. Also, it's still true. Title and thumbnail photos are everything on here!

Very cool. Is that overspray over the bottom of the engine and undercarriage?
The amount of social media follows that you got with this build I think I is totally worth it!!! Love your chanel❤

Damn I was pulling for you on that engine. But even with my 3 years of failed auto mechanic education told me that it was gonna be bad. Still makes for great youtube content but thats a bag to drop when you explain how you couldve bought a different Mclaren cheaper. Best of luck hope in the end its all worth it maybe sell it and cut your losses?

I learned this lesson in high school - You can't make a silk purse out of a sow's ear.
Sell it for parts. Get some money back, but... you apparently already bought the motor.
@@salzar4431 oh interesting. Yeah I bought a used sump to swap it out.
Gotta take the good with the bad, finish it, sell it and move onto better projects, or maybe you'll fall in love with it and keep it, i doubt it though, the memories of this build will out weigh the good of the car i think
cant wait to see the first real drive of this thing!
