Here's a quick tutorial on How to clone Pokemon and get Unlimited Rare Candies and Master balls in Pokemon Gold and Silver for the Nintendo 3DS Virtual Console.
Noice. I'd rather not have to replay Gold/Silver/Crystal just to get another Zap Cannon or Curse TM, so this is a huge time saver. Yeah Rare Candy and Master Ball are cool, but the TM dupe is where it's at.
I tried your method out and it worked terrifically I also experimented with your Technique and was able to spawn 5 rare candies all at once by doing the same method on Pokemon Gold
I remember doing this as a kid and I kept doing this so I could make awesome teams for Pokemon Stadium 2, and buying EV items made the battles even tougher when your opponent can do it too. I miss the 90s. :(

And you could only do one item at a time. This is going to make my Master Dex so much easier to complete now that I know you can do it up to 5 times in one reset.

Great guide! But be careful, fam. I found a variation that can actually delete you pokes. I had all three starters and an additional chikorita(female). I had all my male starters in my party, while my female chikorita was still in the box. I cloned two of my party members, which worked out okay. I withdrew the chikorita so I could clone three at a time. I should have saved after the complete party change, because my next cloning attempt resulted in the party I had before saving, and registered that the female chikorita was no longer in the box, but was not in my party. Poor cutie.
Learned the hard way years ago make sure you have a free space in your party had a ho-oh replaced by a starter when I tried to clone it once so just watch out for that
My brother did this to my Typhlosion on my old copy of Silver. I'll certainly be using this when I get around to playing the game! I'm currently in the middle of beating my copy of Moon which I've left dormant for so long after being burnt out. I'm probably skipping Generation 8.
by extension of this glitch you can use 10 protein, carbos, iron, calcium, hp ups. also teach TMs,12 pp up and as many rare candies as you like/have on a pokemon before you deposit them into the pc then reset. you will keep all the items you used beforehand and the cloned pokemon will retain everything you used and can release the weak one from your party.
Powered all the way to Lugia this afternoon and forgot I needed the silver wing to make it spawn, went back to goldenrod got the wing from team rocket and went back to Lugia. Saved before I fought it, kinda got too ballsy and killed it. Tried again and it spawned a SHINY Lugia couldn’t believe my eyes!!! First shiny legendary I’ve ever encountered and my one of my favorites at that so stoked, now I’m gonna clone a box of em lol
+Superblah I have weird thing that happened in my game. The number of pokemon in box one shows up as a glitched number. Any pokemon i put in there add to the but disappear. My box shows 14, nothing is in there and Poketransfer doesnt detect any pokemon....?
Can someone explain to me why this isn't working, I've tried everything, doing it on virtual console, Crystal and Gold, but it isn't working, I've followed multiple videos but it still isn't working, what am I doing wrong?
I tried this with the proper released version of Gold and Silver and it does still work, the only downside is because the game basically resets bar your boxes, the first 2 starters are not registered to the Pokedex. I assume breeding with ditto fixes this though
Can you trade the cloned Pokémon, I've tried to trade from Gold to Silver in 3DS systems, but always before finishing the trading a Communication Lost Warning appears and the trade is cancel, has any been throught this?
I did this with Rare Candy when I was in High School while watching Tama & Friends in order to get Tyranitar quicker. I was like, fuck it, I'm not waiting till level 55 to get a Poke this friggin cool.

Unfortunately I messed up the glitch in crystal and my bayleef got replaced by a level 5 sandshrew so I had to start a new game.. try to be more cautious in doing it in crystal

TMs you can get only one time are annoying, I always use this in Crystal :-)

Today don't bother with cloning in RBY, use 8F/ws m instead.

I always clone one at a time, it's safest this way AFAIK

This is correct, you can also trade then trade back if you have 2 3DSs
what do you mean by reset barring the boxes??
I ended up just catching a ditto and breeding the other two starters and hatching the eggs in order to get the other starters on my Pokedex.

As it happens, it's way less specific than I remember, this video is more accurate.
I think there's another glitch where you can give a ditto in daycare an item and when it makes an egg that egg will have the duplicate item

Are you playing Crystal? In Crystal you need to abuse bad clones for arbitrary code execution, look on glitch city labs
Sadly I already used my master ball on raikou. And you only really need them for 3 legendaries. So I think rare candies are much better to clone
I have over 100 shiny ho-oh's now, trading them up to ultra moon so I can trade on gts for an easy completed pokedex xD

in Crystal the timing is different. Reset 0.25 s after "SAVING... DON'T TURN OFF THE POWER." is fully printed.
