    Hey guys! thanks for the great video! qq: when you first declare the Degiro account, on the video you add the Degiro B.V, whereas on the website you add flatexDEGIRO Bank Dutch Branch. Which one is correct? thanks again!

    So as a Belgian investing only in individual stocks (Belgian or international stocks), the only administration I need to do once is declaring my flatex account to the NBOB and declare my DEGIRO account in my yearly tax form. How come a lot of sources are telling me that, as a Belgian resident, you do need to declare the dividend tax of 30% yourself even when trading only in stocks?

    • @curvoeu
      @curvoeu  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi! Thanks for your message. You're correct...you must only declare the dividend tax if you are receiving dividends! DEGIRO handles this for you. This tax is known as the tax on dividends (“roerende voorheffing” or “précompte mobilier”). There’s a 30% tax on dividends that you perceive through shares that you hold. This tax is applicable to individual stocks but also to distributing funds. If you don't perceive any dividends, then there's nothing to declare. Hope this helps and check out our video on "Taxes in Belgium" -> th-cam.com/video/gvTpwBKkaF8/w-d-xo.htmlfeature=shared

    • @twistbase
      @twistbase 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hi! Thanks for your response. But in your video and website you mentioned that: "DEGIRO also covers the dividend tax, which amounts to 30% on any dividend you perceive. This saves you considerable administration if you invest in individual stocks or distributing ETFs."

    • @curvoeu
      @curvoeu  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@twistbase Indeed. DEGIRO withholds and pays that tax. I edited my response above to correct it and make it clearer.
      However, DEGIRO does not cover the tax on capital gains on bond funds, also known as the Reynders tax. There’s a 30% tax on the profits you make when you choose to sell the bonds in your portfolio. DEGIRO pushes the responsibility to you for declaring the right amounts in your tax declaration.

    • @twistbase
      @twistbase 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      So in terms of the administration work for just individual stocks (not in bonds or ETFs) for Belgians, DEGIRO withholds and pays the dividend tax that I receive but I still need to declare it in my yearly tax form even if DEGIRO automatically witholds the 30%? @@curvoeu

      Your DEGIRO account has to be declared through one of your parents / guardians instead if you're still a student. It's a bit cumbersome but best to be in line with the tax authorities.

    Is there a way I can check if everything's correct like sending a message to the national bank help service to double check or something?

    • @curvoeu
      @curvoeu  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi, you can always check the status of your declared accounts directly at the National Bank and they provide you with details. If you're uncertain, feel free to contact them directly for confirmation too. Good luck!

    Hi, a general question about foreign investments accounts. Does one need to declare an account even if there's nothing on it. In the past I opened one, sent a bit of money on it but later retrieved it.

    • @curvoeu
      @curvoeu  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yes, all accounts should be declared irrespective if you used them or not. You also need to notify the NBB for closing a foreign account too. We have help articles on the Curvo website!

    Thank you this was very helpful! But if I deal with another broker than Degiro, how do you know which bank hold my cash?

    • @curvoeu
      @curvoeu  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi! Thanks for your comment. If you're dealing with another broker, make sure to read the contract you have with them (or the terms and conditions). The custodian and depositary bank information should be listed in there. If it's not listed there then reach out to the broker and ask them.

    • @curvoeu
      @curvoeu  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@JellisVaes we would suggest that you declare as soon as possible otherwise you may revive a fine. We’ve heard stories of users getting a fine for not declaring their accounts. It can be substantial so it’s not worth the hassle. Note that DEGIRO transmits all your information directly to the Belgian authorities so they also know if you have an account that you haven’t declared yourself!

    Is the tax code box '1075' only available on your tax form after you open an foreign account?
    For now i don"t have any accounts so i was curious on my tax form of this year where i could find this box but i wasn't able to find it.

    • @curvoeu
      @curvoeu  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi! Thanks for your comment. You should see the box 13 (Vak XIII in Dutch or in French Cadre XIII) irrespective if you've declared an account previously or not. That's where you put your foreign account information in your yearly tax forms. We have screenshots here if you need a visual aid: curvo.eu/article/declare-degiro-belgium - good luck!

    Hi Curvo, first of all thanks for the super useful content you publish.
    Just to double check, if I invest monthly in ETFs with Degiro (S&P 500 + MSCI World), then I do not have to send the following document to the SPF every 2 months: DECLARATION DE LA TAXE SUR LES OPÉRATIONS DE BOURSE
    POUR LE MOIS ……./…. ET LE MOIS ……./…. ? Degiro does it for you, right? As well as paying the tax.
    Thanks again
