I remember literally nothing except that there should be 100 raisins in every box of Raisin Poofs - probably because at the time I could do the math and figure out that would be about 14 raisins per bowl.
Same. I just started watching it again after 30 years and there's so much nostalgia there. I loved this show when I was a kid and apparently I still do. I still have so much love for it. The chemistry between Mark and Bronson was the magic
I have been a huge fan of this show since I was a child growing up in the'80s and '90s. I have all the seasons on dvd. I did not know that Mark and Bronson were doing cons. I would love to get their autograph on some of those DVDs
Growing up in the 80s, I loved this show! This show and most of the other shows I remember played on T.G.I.F. and I was watching every week. I still love Perfect Strangers. My wife and I still watch it. We bought it on Amazon Prime, and we were able to also get the first season. I miss TV from the 1980s and 1990s. The world we all live in today is not even close to the same it was in the 80s, and a remake would never work.
I dated a guy in high school whom my dad thought looked like Bronson Pinchot so whenever he would call the house my dad would yell “Balkey is on the phone!”
Yeah, the original intro was refreshingly dramatic and touching instead of being comedic. (The "America or Burst" thing was the only humorous thing in the first season's intro. The rest of it was like a mini movie.)
Loved this show as a kid, from the first time I saw it. The actors' classic "odd couple" chemistry and linguistic and physical comedy and characters' heart made it endearing. I'm wondering if it would have been better if Larry had been an only child (instead of from a big family), with Balki becoming the brother he never had. The show was lucky to get Bronson Pinchot... He would outshine even Eddie Murphy in the Beverly Hills Cop movies (making Eddie the straight guy to Bronson's improvisational comedic acting).
This brings me back. As a kid I remember this airing on my local station and whole family watching followed by Full House , Sledge Hammer and Moonlighting. We were so invested in the shows and had so many laughs.
Mark Lynn-Baker's small role in HBOs the Leftovers is one of the greatest cameos of all time. And the fact that the show used the Perfect Strangers theme song in place of its own for that episode only cements its place as one of TVs greatest moments.
I came here to say this. How could they not mention this in the video?! The show leftovers is amazing and the fact that it showed how the event effected "real life" celebrities as well as "regular" people was a great story point.
I started watching this show this year. I'm a lifelong fan of Family Matters, but I never saw the show that FM was a spinoff from. So I started watching it. I love this.
This show was my FAVORITE to watch!! I watched all the episodes back then with a smile. It’s a shame tv doesn’t have good shows like this anymore. So good and endearing to watch… one of the best show ever to be made.
Mark Lynn Baker's slapstick talents are in full swing in the film version of "Noises Off" with John Ritter, Michael Caine, Denholm Elliott, Julie Haggardy, CHRISTOPHER REEVES and freakin' Carol Burnett! Side-splittingly funny!
One of my favorite shows ever. I have the whole series on DVD. Such an underrated/forgotten show. I've watched it so much, I can recite most episodes verbatim.
A few years ago I was thinking about how much I loved this show on tv so I streamed the whole thing and realized that it's DEEPLY underrated in our collective memories. The writing was a joyful, rollicking ride, and Pinchot and Linn-Baker are incredible. Their physical comedy chops alone were spectacular, not even to speak of their wonderful, synergetic acting. I absolutely love it.
Yup, we had no net, social media and everything that made our lives more toxic. Everything was great! I wish that they can invent a time machine so we can all go back.
Bronson Pinchot has become an amazing audiobook narrator. I recently listened to his version of Patricia Highsmith’s Strangers on a Train, and it was perfect. Highly recommended.
back then my English was "in development" ... i could not get every joke but their physical comedy and timing was amazing. you would think they were a comedy duo since ever! seeing an immigrant character struggling with his own language and cultural barriers was very inspiring. "happy happy, joy joy" (different show but you get the picture of the dance of joy)
I always thought that Larry and Balki should have had guest spots on Family Matters. I can just imagine Balki arriving at the Winslow house for a visit. Him meeting Urkel, who comments something like "I like your wool vest. It looks very Muposian." To which Balki replies by speaking in Myposian, which Urkel understands and replies in kind. I don't know what the conflict of the episode would be, but it should end with everyone doing the Dance of Joy.
Right? I mean... it was just there for the taking. Both shows were popular at the time- AND Full House was popular, where Urkel made a cameo. They never ONCE thought to put Balki, Urkel, and and Uncle Joey in some bizarre situational crossover?? Not even for like RATINGS sweeps week or anything?
@@WaldoBagelTopper What's even more frustrating is that they DID do a Full House/Family Matters crossover (the episode where Stephanie needs glasses). But they never did a Family Matters/Perfect Strangers crossover, even though Family Matters was a spinoff of Perfect Strangers. They could have done something like Urkel and Laura babysit Balki and Maryanne's baby while Balki and Maryanne get to enjoy a little alone time together. And shenanigans ensue.
I'd absolutely love it if they brought the show back for at least a season. There have been a couple of revivals that have worked for the most part. Fuller House, Rosanne/The Connors, Frasier, and so forth, so why not? I loved the show growing up and it was part of my childhood.
I recently rewatched this entire series and it always made me sad that the final season was basically relegated to the weird Victorian house. I missed their humble beginnings and work locations.
This was one of my favourite shows when I was a kid. Then I saw Pinchot in "The Langoliers" and I mourned the death of Balki! 🙂 Also, you overlooked Sam Gorpley! I loved that character and the actor who played him.
I LOVED THIS SHOW ❤❤❤ I used to do the dance of joy with my younger brother when we were kids and he'd jump into my arms! I'm from Chicago and loved that the show was based there.
After seeing it misspelled way too many times in fans' comments here, I really want to say that Mark's full, professional acting name is Mark Linn-Baker, not Mark Lynn-Baker, or however else it's mis-written. His full, real name is Mark Linn Baker. Linn is his middle name, that was made up by his father, and Mark was known as Mark Baker or Mark L. Baker in high school (I'm not saying how I know that). When he was starting to be a professional actor, there was already another Mark Baker in the actor's union, so he (Perfect Strangers Mark) got creative and combined his middle and last names and put a hyphen between them, to create Linn-Baker. I'm 49 1/2 years old, and have been a big Perfect Strangers fan, and a big fan of Mark and Bronson, ever since the show was originally on, as part of TGIF. Plus, I had a big crush on Mark for quite a long time during those years, and for quite a while after, too! Great memories! From Cacilie

That show and actually the whole tgif lineup for a latchkey kid with an overworked single mom was an incredible formative experience filled with solid moral lessons, inspiration, and hope that the world is a good place and that if you work hard and chase your dreams anything is possible, that is what is missing in society today positive role models but I am thankful I grew up in a time of perfect strangers, goonies, and a full house so thank you for this trip down memory lane where I still live in my own world!! #myreality
Bronson gave a really revealing interview on his career in 2009, it's well worth a read, he doesn't hold back. Some highlights are him talking about how Denzel was a monster and bully to everyone on set in courage under fire
As a kid, this was one of the few live action shows I liked, prior to TGIF really kicking off (another was Get Smart). I remember watching the show with my dad, so when the first season was released on DVD, I grabbed it. Watching it as an adult, the show resonates with me a lot more than any of the other TGIF shows and still holds up. It's not about a wacky family (with kids, I mean), and it's not about people trying to make it in Hollywood or New York. It's a show about two 20-somethings (if that old) being 20-somethings. They're poor (though that apartment looks expensive. They have crappy retail jobs. They don't have a weird, impossible lifestyle. It's much more grounded, and even though there is a lot of comedy, it isn't wacky or silly like so many of the TGIF shows and other sitcoms end up being. It's a show about two young adults being young adults.

im sure i saw this tv show in HBO max or amazon and watched it maybe 2 months ago but awesome show.
Thank you fans for recommending this.
Can you talk about the one show that was on ABC it was called lois and clark the new adventures of superman
Loved this show!
Bring back the 80's! Rest in peace Cousin Balki!
This theme song has lived in my brain rent free since the 80s
I haven't seen this show in over 25 years, but I have never forgotten it. That should say something.
I remember literally nothing except that there should be 100 raisins in every box of Raisin Poofs - probably because at the time I could do the math and figure out that would be about 14 raisins per bowl.
@entertainingblackmanvideos7691 Id love to get the series on dvd

It can be found online for free
Don't be ridiculous.
Earlier this year, I got to meet both Mark Lynn-Baker & Bronson Pinchot at Steel City Con. I had Bronson autograph my copy of The Langoliers.
Ah that's cool. Its nice to hear that they're still out there going at it.
I have been a huge fan of this show since I was a child growing up in the'80s and '90s. I have all the seasons on dvd. I did not know that Mark and Bronson were doing cons. I would love to get their autograph on some of those DVDs
Man I remember how amazed I was to see 'Balki' act all agressive and paranoid in the Langoliers....loved it!!! ❤😂

Lol. And how did your boyfriend feel about it?
Your dad is a legend.
No he’s not dad, don’t be ridiculous! Lol
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
we're you attracted to him because of his resemblance or was it just a coincidence?
This show was a huge part of my childhood. It brings back so many happy memories of a better time. Would watch it then go visit my great grandmother.
That intro still makes me feel good
After all these years.
Yeah, the original intro was refreshingly dramatic and touching instead of being comedic. (The "America or Burst" thing was the only humorous thing in the first season's intro. The rest of it was like a mini movie.)
I know! It's beautiful. ❤️
Loved perfect strangers never missed an ep. Friday night staple in our house in the 90s
One of the only TGIF shows I genuinely liked. Balki and Cousin Larry had great chemistry.
I fckn loved this show. So much fun. Underrated opening theme song. That sht is epic.
I watched this every week as a teen. I still know the theme song by heart.
I've been watching it on Prime and it's delightful.
I was visiting a friend of mine in Chicago and visited on of the buildings in the show and recreated wind blowing them in the intro lol
Loved "Perfect Strangers" when I was kid, I used to yell "Cousin Larry Apple-TON!" Like Balkey and would annoy everybody around me.
REMEMBER: without This show, there wouldn't be Family Matters. I liked both.
And Urkel saved FM. If it was not for Urkel, FM would have lasted only one season.
@@john1701q Yes, you are Right 👍🏾
@@john1701qFamily Matters wasn’t a traditional sitcom. It dealt with heavy, mature themes

And i'd like to add that perfect strangers has what may Be the most slamming theme song from the 1980s.

Yes, same here! And Sledgehammer, a show that does not get anywhere near the love and recognition it deserves!
Sledgehammer was hilarious.
Time to do the Dance of Joy!
I use that GIF alot
This show was possibly the best 80s sitcom. It has literally every 80s sitcom trope. You can trace them all to this show.
Sorry but ALF 🤷🏻♂️😄
I was never a big fan of this show. You're forgetting Mork and Mindy and many others. This show piggybacked on many other more popular shows.
it's the male version of Laverne & Shirley with the same producers, same writers and even same episode director, the great Joel Zwick
@@Del-Canadalike I said it was the male version of Laverne & Shirley with many of the same writers , producers and directors that L&S had
@@MartinSmith156 Yes, that is correct also. Didn't like that show either.

Agreed awesome cameo
He also played Jennifer Walters’s dad in Marvel’s much-maligned She-Hulk: Attorney at Law
Yeah, I dunno how you talk about later roles and skip over him playing "Mark Linn-Baker."
lol oh great, now I gotta look this up lol

Is this my favorite sitcom of all-time?
Of course, it is, don't be ridiculous!
Now you're making me feel really old!
But it was still better than "Bussiom Buddies"...
Mark Lynn Baker and Melanie Wilson did appear on Family Matters but as different characters.
I was probably 7 or 8 when this show was on air and little kid me absolutely loved this show! Definitely a nostalgic part of my childhood.
Bronson Pinchot has become an amazing audiobook narrator. I recently listened to his version of Patricia Highsmith’s Strangers on a Train, and it was perfect. Highly recommended.
I remember that show 😆👍
Alot of people forget family matters was spinoff of this show
I know Balki was the breakout character, but Cousin Larry was the one who made me laugh more often.
They were such a perfect comedy duo, I don't think either character would've worked without the other.
Whenever I make pastries and such, I remember and sing the jingle Balki had when they made babies babkas. Good episode.

The Langoliers.
