With regards to the criticism of the terminator arming itself to the teeth just to kill one person - he is a tactical unit that will plan for any and all possible scenarios. Given this information, there was always a strong possibility of military or police involvement, so all of the extra weaponry was a tactical plan, which turned out to be extremely useful when he had to raid an entire police station to find his target. There was zero redundancy in his choice of available weaponry.
I like the jib of your cut, sailor. The terminator acquiring clothing to blend in, then immediately gathering a cache of weapons before starting his mission of tracking down his target would be the most methodical and logical approach. I want an alternate Terminator 1, starring Franco Colombo and Bess Motta. See, he's an older, jankier terminator so he mistakes Ginger for Sarah and spends the whole movie trying to terminate her, but he can't, not because she's smart or anything but because he's not very good at terminating. A wacky chase scene at the gym ensues. And then they have a talk and resolve their differences over a tub of ice cream or something.
@@SillyOlive That one felt like a game they were making just to have a blast and make themselves laugh. Now they just make soulless ‘products’ and it show.
I like to think that the Terminator has to use the phone book in 1984 because his internal router can’t connect to satellites because they haven’t been put in orbit yet.
Makes fun of the Terminator needing so many guns to kill Sarah Connor…. Someone who is so dangerous that an AI sends a robot back in time to kill her and then you realize by the end of the movie the Terminator didnt buy enough guns to get the job done.
11:00 I would disagree here and say that actually this film score is quite celebrated in the experimental electronic music genres, especially Industrial, EBM, and Dark Wave. I personally was incredibly moved by the score the first time I saw it as a kid (in the 90's on VHS after being blown away by the first one in theaters). I eventually spent about 40 dollars on Ebay for a CD copy of the original film score. The music during the third and final future sequence is one of my all time favorite pieces of music from a film!
"It was irresponsible handing her a gun. What he should have done is..." What he should have done is told her not to call anybody, especially not her mom. But then Sarah might have said "Oh my god my mom is in danger? We have to help her!". But he really should have told her the Terminator can impersonate voices, so if she talks to anyone on the phone, maybe ask the person something only they would know.

I appreciate terminator salvation more over time, it was the only terminator movie after T2 that tried something new. It wasn’t great but it was something.
19:02 the gun isn't for Sarah to use on the terminator, it's for other humans... Kyle at this point is expecting them to live a life on a run since he doesn't think he can stop him with 20th century weapons, so it's logical they might have to rob people/steal cars/supplies or break into places at a moments notice...
I prefer The Terminator, for multiple reasons, over T2 although I acknowledge how brilliant Judgement Day is. The future war vignettes, Arnold as the villainous T-800, the humble roots of the Sarah Connor character, Kyle Reese's bravery. A tightly spun horror film with sci-fi and dramatic elements.

The adult John Connor at the beginning of T2 is still the definitive John Connor.
I love it when Mr Plinkett reprises his role as the iconic character Mike Stoklasa
Lately I prefer T1 over 2. It is 80s, dark, to the point, gritty, viscous. Love it
Same. It's the better movie.
It's obviously better. No argument here.
Absolutely agree. It's so well done.
Terminator 2 always felt bloated and safe.
It is a really viscous movie, I never noticed how much of a thick, sticky consistency it has. The molasses of film.
Terminator has the viscosity of golden syrup. It's very sweet and goes well in my porridge
One of the greatest failures of the terminator franchise after T2 was not going back to its horror/thriller origins.
Also not using time travel for more varied settings. See Predator: Prey for example.
I might argue it was the first beloved franchise they ruined. Well maybe the Superman movies, part 4 was ass.
@@D-Fens_1632 I like ass.
