      @@bopcph i said touring bike, not ocean liner. seriously though the busa is not and never was built for circuit stuff. its a sports tourer. more sporty than a goldwing certainly, but a CBR600RR (probably even an F) on circuit will eat one alive, etc.

      @@JethroRose If you just search here on YT for anything "busa" you will find 99% of the videos associating "busa" with 200+mph and/or sport if not racing and I don't think any in the last 1% will associate busa with touring. And just to cap this, just go to Suzuki's own website www.suzukicycles.com/Product%20Lines/Cycles.aspx and see what category they themself place their busa in !? - Sport !!!! I even think you will be just as crouched on a busa as on a 250RR - it is certainly not as comfortable as my VFR750F ('90) - I've tried and I didn't liked it :o/
      I wouldn't call a busa anything like a tourer - it is a sport bike but its a drag-sport or highway-sport bike.
      On most "trackday-tracks", Hampton Downs too, a well setup "Any"600cc/100+HP will have the upper hand :-)
      Btw, I wouldn't challenge this 250RR on my VFR750F (full Showa "R" suspension) before I had at least 10 hours of practice on the track ;-)

      Bo Petersen mate. I don’t need to watch TH-cam videos to be told what they are. I ride sports bikes, do track days, and have mates with Busas. in real life. They are heavy, long and set up for high speed stability. Not flicking from side to side on track. Not carrying huge lean angle for high corner speed.
      They are a sports tourer. Suzuki sell them as a sports tourer. They have sports tourer ride position.
      Yes they are fast in a straight line. That does not make them a proper sports bike.
      Also
      I have 2 of these (MC22) in my garage. Alongside a CBR600RR, CBR1000RR and an RGV250

    very impressive bike, do you thingh a smaller displacement engine makes you choose better lines, looks like you take those corners very nicely... ive been keen on geting this bike for track, not because of the power only, but handling power and weight combination, i think it will breed a better rider, love the vid, thanks

    • @SportbikerNZ
      @SportbikerNZ  4 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      Having less power does mean you scrounge for faster lap times through better lines, braking and corner speed as there's no big power crutch to lean on. A lower powered bike is the best way to boost your skills in those areas as it's far more forgiving on throttle control. It won't bite you as bad compared to making a mistake at 200+kph
      People on bigger bikes often sorely stunt their confidence by too many high speed scares, stepping out the rear under power etc, whereas a smaller bike just allows your confidence to keep skyrocketing.

    I just landed one in the US this past week. I'm getting it in a couple days. Do they let these compete in the 250/300 classes in NZ? I feel like they'd be a ringer here in the US since they make more power and are lighter than the current single and twin 250's.

    • @SportbikerNZ
      @SportbikerNZ  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Nice.
      Rules on cyl count exclude these from 250/300 racing here. Otherwise they'd definitely dominate. There are classes they can compete, but those class rules are usually for significantly larger displacement machines where these cannot be competitive.

      I have found most racing classes in the US prohibit more then two cylinder 250s in the 250 classes. Thr closest rule set I could find was 400 Open as part of the vintage motorcycle racing association. 400 open allows for up to 250cc two stroke or 400cc four stroke up to 4 cylinders for bikes manufactured between 1990 and 1998.
      That being said as a new owner of two MC22s in the states, I would love to have a class in which these would be competitive. I can't really see them being competitive with a Rvf400R which has 20+ HP on thr MC22 but interestingly, the 250RR makes about the same amount of power as the CBR400RR of the same time period.

      Do not let the MC22 go. They’re super rare. A lot of young inexperienced riders bought them back in the day because of the low displacement but didn’t realise how meaty they can be and thus a lot of them have been smashed up over the years. Also, with modern day bikes, it’s a sound you just can’t really buy anymore. Not without spending the seriously big money and by the time you get the sound coming out the pipes, you’re getting arrested for speeding. On the MC22, you can get that glorious sound and still be under the limit. Hold on to that thing for deal life my man.
