Funny, informative and on point review, nice job guys! One of my all time favorites, traded in my GRC for this and couldn’t be happier (and had the MKV Supra before that). The N division is Incredibly reliable, can be tracked all day stock (GRC and Type-R both have heat issues) and the aftermarket is growing by the day. With just a few mods and tune from N75, I’m at 340whp and inching close to 400 at the crank. It’s a missile now, especially with the DCT and sounds ludicrous in N mode, but then at the touch of a button, you can change all the driving dynamics and sound if preferred…it’s a gem.
I've seen some FK8s for 28K. These cars really dont hold their value. They are production cars, after all. If anything, the FL5 will probably hold its value a little more because of the insane markups, making it harder to sell.
I have a 2022 6mt w 18k miles bought it earlier this year 5 track days and I daily drive it It’s totally stock and I’ve done a few oil changes, brake pads, that’s it Hasn’t given me any issues I will say that mpg is horrible living in the city (about 10 mpg) but getting it on the highway I get high 20’s (28 or more) Build quality is ok. Some interesting panel gaps. I get some plastic rattle playing music with bass. The manual shifter is below average (but still 100 times better than an auto lol) Overall it’s an impressive car I enjoy driving it and I love that I don’t have to do much of anything In order to take it to the track and have fun.
Bought the 6mt Elantra N, and saved over $20,000 versus buying a Type R! Have driven Hondas for over 20 years(2002 civic ex 5 speed, 2013 accord sport 6 speed, 2018 civic si 6 speed), and am impressed with what Hyundai has done with this vehicle!
Nice review gentlemen. I’m a longtime NYC resident who really enjoyed your Texas vibe. As an N owner, I thought your review was pretty thorough. I subbed and plan on checking out your other content. Keep it going!
I've had 14 Honda/Acura products in my lifetime; all modified extensively, but Honda was too late to the turbo game and lost me. I love my 2022 EN, & out of 8 Type R's raced in Mexico so far I've only took an L to one with 450+ HP; who's engine blew, and was only ahead by 1.5 cars. The DCT is a complete game changer and helps this car punch way above it's weight class...or is it price class? 😁
By the way it has launch control 😭 and I’ve never seen it advertised as a 4.8 sec 0-60 the best I’ve seen stock is like 5.3 with 91 octane ofc faster if u use Ethanol
I’ve seen 4.8 advertised before, but I will say I see a 5.1 to 5.4 on an average. I’ve seen people get lower too. From a stop the cars kinda inconsistent, anything outside of that it’s super aggressive and quick.
I have a friend that got under 4.8 multiple times. I couldn’t get mine under 5. And yea watching them complain when they don’t use launch control was infuriating
Elantra N is more of a plastic engine and plastic interior! Type R is build solid!! IDK!! $10k isn't that much of a difference in 2024 but it is...I'm on the fence!!
Nothing but problems with Hyundai. A veloster had two warrantied engines get swapped after months of being in the shop both times. Another one also has engine problems and goes in and out of the shop. Run from hyundai.
You’re stuck in 2012. Hyundai has climbed up in reliability rankings in the last decade. Particularly this motor, lots of people with Veloster N’s which uses the same platform with over 100k miles and no issues.
I don’t like the way it looks. Never did. I own a 22 N manual. Bought it new. For the price and the way it drives, no regrets. I took my car for free routine service and they offered to appraise my car and buy it back. I laughed. The only car that I’ll consider swapping this for is if they put the 2.5 engine in the next Elantra N model as is rumored. The car is ugly but drives so well I don’t care.
@@NvSrAgE679I can definitely afford a Type R and an N at the same time. I understand that the Type R is marginally better in just about all ways. But I don’t find the R to be a good value when you consider the mark up. Value has always mattered to me (and other financially responsible people). I bought the N manual because I wanted it, not because I couldn’t afford the R. No regrets. Plan to own it for quite a while.

Better value for the time but in the long run the type r will hold it value and go up once they stop making it

The EN holds it's value just fine.
Not anymore they don't
Nobody buys a type R for holding value and type Rs aren’t good at holding value either😅. Dealer markup also doesn’t help you retain value😂

10 mpg😮.
@ yep. That’s just driving to gym and back, or grocery store. Basically stop and go traffic the whole way

Did they ever fix them so you cant steal one by pulling off the column plastic and turning the ignition with a USB end?
yes
You guys are great !
Thanks!
Prefer the front of the PFL
that fox-body coyote swap is on my bucket list.
As it should be sir. It would be sick
can anyone explain to me why they would buy a brz/gr86 over this or the veloster N?
4 doors, more... cargo space
@@1offgarage GR86 is a 2 door coupe with arguably less space
RWD?
@@r3games1985 the VN is faster and more fun plus louder

Try launch control and "ngb" button?

You guys know you can launch control the car instead of brake boost
It's a DCT right?

Nowadays Hyundai is a better car brand than Honda
IDK about that but they're a legit competitor, especially since they can undercut pricing with similar performance.

They both have tons of plastic & the difference is more like $20k real world
Cheaper ?
Yes
Better?
No
It’s better in a lot of ways. You have to take the cost into account too.
Dose the Type R come with a DCT? No?
It’s cheaper because it is. CTR has legit Honda pedigree.
Overpriced for what it is. A tuned econobox

did you buy it brand new?
Troll. All fake News and disinfo.
never considering a korean car
You're an idiot it's not 2012. Hyundai owns motorsport these days
great sports car with time bomb reliability
Paid 39k in los angeles
That's nuts lol. Probably already lost like 7-9k in value if you have super low miles and its a '24. Most places are selling them for under MSRP
@vjdfl5 mines a 2025. In California they don't sell at MSRP.
Hyundai has been absolutely COOKIN with the new designs, but the reliability is tragic.

Seriously he is lol 😂 what a joke @TheBeebop420
2.5 years and 35,000 miles on my 2022 Elantra N DCT and zero reliability issues.
What? Reliability of the N cars are very good what are you talking about?
This is outdated. Hyundai has become one of the most reliable manufacturers.
Lol Not better.
Better: No
Cheaper: Yes
Shame they look so ugly otherwise I may of been swayed.
I don't think it's ugly... but I may be in the minority on this one 😬

not winning in reliability
Not a Type R fanboy but nobody is picking that ugly Hyundai over the Type R, get real.
