I have this exact Tahoe but a 2009. Great to see this build!

The car is okay, it handles the road well, and it’s fun to drive with the top down. It has its charms, it’s agile, and it looks good. It’s simple, which is a rarity these days. It’s just you and the car. Now, is it underpowered? Unfortunately, yes. You can feel the lack of a turbo, there’s no real kick, and even the sound is nothing special. The narrative that it’s better to drive a slow car fast than a fast car slow is completely wrong. No one ever said they had too much power; having a bit more horsepower is always welcome. I’d compare this car to the Abarth 595 (they’re similarly priced in my country, with the Mazda being about 5k more expensive). But the Abarth pulls better, has a much better sound, and its performance is stronger. I simply had a bigger smile on my face when throwing the Abarth through the twisties and listening to that exhaust. Mazda’s only advantage is that it looks better and is a convertible. If I had to choose between the two right now, it would be a tough decision. I think I would probably go for the Miata and install an aftermarket exhaust, but I might always regret that it doesn’t have a turbo for that better kick. And yes, I know it’s more reliable than the Fiat, which is its main advantage. To sum up, the narrative that it has enough power is wrong, and I’d rather drive a more powerful car slower, knowing it has power when I need it.

If it were me, I would've put the 16 inch PPV brakes on. They have so much better heat dissipation and better braking leverage. You'll need 20 inch rims for them to fit, but it's totally worth it. Good chance to put some wider tires and a 2-3 inch lift. I'm planning to throw on some Michelin defender 295/65r20s on mine with a 3 inch lift. I'll loose some of the brake leverage, but they won't overpower the skinner tires as much, so stopping should be way better with a smoother ride. After that I'll regear the axles to 4.10, plus some really thick sway bars, a high stall converter, and a supercharger. I've got a 2007 6.2 6 speed escalade, it'll be a beast!

I have a 04 Tahoe and also didn't like the body-roll, so I put on a solid 33mm rear sway bar and now I love the way it handles.

Forgive my ignorance here, just picked up a new (to me) 2013 Tahoe LTZ and the rear struts are seeping/need replacement. For the Rear Eibach's in your setup: Did you have to incorporate a workaround for the MagnaRide Sensors?

Finally, someone talked about that. For me, it has been the best thing I could have bought for my family. I have had my 2007 Tahoe for 17 years and have crossed half the country with my family on vacation. I would say that in all aspects, it has crossed snow, mud, sand, off-road, and it still has everything from the dealership except all-terrain tires. I simply love the truck. Of course, the magic is when you give it the proper maintenance.

I remove my hood on my Trucks when dune banishing the sand dunes and I also have to tell everyone there is no over heating problems just preventing heat soak power loss.

I used to have an 07 Z71 but i currently have an 07 LT that i bought with 77k and now I’m sitting at 309k miles and the drivetrain is completely stock with exception of a tune. I love these trucks so much, i just wish they didn’t rust so badly.

Heads and cams next? Maybe some headers with a cat back?? E85 help with cool things down

Ford hit the marks with this truck. Dealers are offering incentives, plus the tax break. Ford just needs to keep refining this truck. Work on faster charging, and greater efficiency. If they will keep refining this the triangle will wear off and people will be circling back to the F150 and the Silverado. Ram is coming.

I’ve had my 2011 Tahoe for a long time and have put over 350k on it and I still love it to this day. Such an amazing and underrated truck. It’s cool to see someone giving this generation the credit that it deserves!

6.4 Hemi better

In my opinion, the 15’-20’ DPS Tahoes are the most beautiful and intimidating PPVs in the nation. Just a slimmed down version of the old reliable you’re covering in this video. In other states, I rarely stop for other state police when speeding, but when I’m in my home TX, that white hood makes you think twice before doing the dash.. I do it anyways, but I’ve had some troopers push their Tahoe to 140+ still on my tail before I lose them! Crazy MFers! 🤣 Thanks for your service. I’ll always have respect for our DPS and their efforts against violent crime, illegal immigration, and enforcing DOT regs on crappy truck drivers. God bless. Great review

I'm sorry, maybe I'm in the minority (literally😂) but this version of this car has always been a mistake. A luxury sedan Cadillac shouldn't have to go fast in order to be fun to drive. I've owned this exact car & I couldn't downgrade fast enough. Just a regular non-turbo CT6 Luxury is completely fine. Large luxury sedan Cadillacs are made to look good while driving slow. They're made to be seen not to be heard. If Cadillac would have focused more on the luxury aspect than the power aspect of it then maybe they wouldn't have discontinued it in the US in 2020. Look at the Chinese version of the CT6 general motors kept selling over in China & you'll see exactly what I'm talking about. The 2025 CT6 is amazing! As soon as you pull up anywhere panties should automatically drop! You don't even have to say a word😂 That's what a large luxury sedan Cadillac is supposed to do. Who cares how fast I go I'm more concerned with who's coming home with me tonight and how many of them can I fit in the car 🤷 Don't forget pimpin is a business 😎 & while I don't know where you're from over here where I'm at business is good!
