You can't hold all hyundai service departments accountable for terrible experiences. 9 times outta 10 service departments have their hands tied when it comes to shit like this. There's only so much they can do without the manufacturer approval. That's where proper communication and knowledge of how warranty stuff is dealt with comes in play. You get a lazy don't care service advisor then yes he or she might tell you to politely fuck off. Yes it'll make for a terrible service department experience, but you get the ones that actually break things down and explain what's going on and why then you may change your mind on that. Manufacturer will only approve repairs if they deem its needed. If not then there's nothing the service departments can do. Service advisors are just messengers from the technicians to the customers. Tech deals handles repairs and communication with manufacturers, tells the service advisor yes or no and what's going on or problem can't be duplicated and at that point service advisors relay the message to the customer and do our best to explain the reasoning and repairs of necessary. 🤷♂️ take it as you want but not all service advisors or service departments are terrible.
@@brendanperry542 we’re specifically talking about Hyundai dealer service departments here which have proven over and over they do not understand the Elantra N is not an Elantra N Line, which calls for a completely different weight oil. I have first hand experience of this happening and I constantly see others post the same exact story. That’s inexcusable. As far as I know I haven’t heard of any Elantra N owners that have been denied warranty coverage other than one incident which was already a sketchy situation because the owner was a Hyundai technician and modified his car.
I got 2023 with 11k miles i do have 1 problem active exhaust valve slightly rattle on cold start for about 30 seconds no big deal overall fun car never get tired and it gets 33 mpg hwy in normal driving great video's we need more videos about N ty
Thanks! Yes, the exhaust valve rattle is very common, but like you said not that big of a deal. A lot of cars with active exhausts have the same issue.
Owned my for 6 months and 7500 miles. 2023 Elantra N. 0 problems so far. Thanks for the video! Like your in-depth knowledge. Good to know if something does happen. Keep up the good work!
No issues at 22K with my Intense Blue DCT and still rattle free. I had the car in service for free a routine synthetic oil change and the DCT recall was performed during that visit. The stock Michelins still have plenty of meat on them after one rotation. I did have the "uneven road surface" warning pop up. It was fixed with the download from Hyundai. The one downside with the update was that I lost the "Tube Radio" display which I thought was cool in a retro sort of way. Keep up the great content!
Great to hear yours has been trouble free! I’m really hoping I don’t have to update my navigation for that exact reason ha ha. Thanks for the kind words!
@@n-power-automotive without the update you can't talk to your nav system. It will keep saying "no response from server". However you can type in your destination still
Great overview! Dash/control panel rattle, check. Paint chipping/soft, check. Slight pull to the right, check. Still love this unicorn of a performance sedan, CHECK 🙏🏼👍🏼
I was literally just going to start seeking out to see if anybody else was having issues with the forward collision alert lol. Catches me off guard once or twice a week. Praying I don't have issues with the knock sensor though.
Hopefully it eases your mind knowing it’s happening to most of us. I have driven through some heavy rain and gone through car washes and never had the knock sensor give me a problem, so it seems random to me.
Yep I have that too. Plus the trunk slowly separating and seems like it's popped open. I didn't notice until I watched N Prfrms channel. I have an 6 spd manual, and the clutch squeaks and the cause is that it needs grease. I greased it and it didn't disappear 100 percent went, but you can barely hear it. Hopefully it'll stay that way, but if not, ill just grease it again.
I got a 90 day seasons pass car wash last winter. The one I went to had the undercarriage spray. My knock sensor hasn’t given an issue knock on wood. My horn had to get replaced though 😂
Hey Recent new sub here, i just picked up a black 24’ Elantra N DCT and i have to say what a great car! Ive owned several cars that were way faster but tbh i was just looking for something a bit more practical but fun at the same time! Ive owned Shelbys, ZL1 camaro, vettes, Civic Type R but i think hands down for the money nothing really compares to the EN! I love it and am planning to do a few tasteful mods very soon just to add a bit more power and enhance the looks! Great videos btw! You actually helped me make my choice!
Thanks for the kind words! The most rewarding thing for me to hear is that I helped someone make up their mind to get an EN! You’ve definitely owned some epic cars! That’s an amazing testament to how fun the EN is coming from someone with the history of cars you have. It almost feels criminal that it’s this good for the mid-$30k price point.
Does anyone know if these issues were addressed on the 2024 model of this vehicle? I hear nothing but great things about the 23 model and I'm debating on getting one but only if all or most of the issues are addressed.
2:51 the forward collision popup is so fing annoying. but it only flashes for me.... and i just try to ignore it, i saw in some cases it was a constant flash.
@@n-power-automotive forward collision sensor, dct recall, horn, and front alignment slightly pulling to the right. Mine is a 2022 and it's been great besides those issues.
2022 VN. 68500 miles. Only issues was the HPFP gave out and paint bubbling on the bumper but probably because I live where it’s 115-120 degrees in the summer and the paint on new cars is just garbage. The DCT issue is a common issue in a lot of DCT cars so it’s not just the N
I shared this with the Korean Avante N community and got a lot of comments, but suspiciously, no one experienced the knock sensor issue. The most common issues in the Korean community were exhaust flap shaking, horn failure, and cracks in the side skirts.
@@zabryant01 the MD elantras are made in US. Hence their engine problems. They don't have the same engine problems in Korea because... they don't have those 1.8 engines for that model.
@@anthonylim2428 no they are not. A large portion are made in Alabama and the other portion are made in Ulsan South Korea and exported to the US. You can literally go online and search any 2011-2016 Elantra for sale and scroll through and look at the vin and you’ll see many with “5” which is US (Alabama built) and then you’ll see few with “K” which means it’s built in Korea (Ulsan). And yes the Elantras in Korea from that time period had the 1.6. But that doesn’t mean other Hyundais and Kia’s didn’t use the problematic 2.4 theta 2 gdi which was an option in many cars like the grandeur (azera) and sonata, the Kia k5 (optima). It wasn’t the standard engine as most came with the a 1.6 or a 2.0 NU engine with less power. But the 2.4 theta 2 gdi was an option you could get and it was horrible. They’ve had the same recalls as we have had in the USA over those engines. And also issues with oil consumption including on the latest 2.5 smartstream engine. So… idk where you’re getting your info from.
I have a 2020 VT and I get the Collison senor warning as well seems like it happens at night when the window has condensation or somewhat dirty haha. But it goes away after about 10 miles again only at night.
Im happy you mentioned the collision sensor. I get that somewhat often. It doesnt really bother me though. Im also thankful for the other issues you mentioned, in case I experiense any of those. I do use an undercarriage spray in the winter, due to salt, so thank you so much for that warning. I actually bought my own undercarriage sprayer so Ill keep away from the sensor. So good to know these things! I have a slow leak in my front passenger side tire and im about to try and get that replaced under my tire warrenty so wish me luck! Everett Hyundai has actually been surprisingly awesome 👌 I was afraid they would suck because of where we live but nope, they give me the correct oil. They let me choose 6 (I think. At least 6) free oil change services however I want them and I get a real nice wash after. They give a thorough rundown of the car and with a great attitude from the service manager and the mechanics Ive spoken with. I got off topic there but maybe someone will read that and judge how they've been treated at the dealer 🤷♂️ Anyway, thanks again, man. I appreciate your videos ✌️ OH, also, I just put in 2 gallons of regular fuel for the first time. I knew I wasnt going to be doing any octane learning so I finally decided to. NEVER AGAIN. Because of your knock sensor info. Double thanks 👏
Wow thanks for the awesome comment! That’s great you found a good dealership. I’m hoping the dealership near me will be better than the one I bought mine from was not good. Glad to help and thanks for watching!
It looks like your intake would do the opposite of what you want it to do which is pulling in cooler air which can't be done with an open filter trapped under the hood. Maybe I'm missing something. Great video!
I bought my VN DCT in July 2021. drove the car for almost 3 months until I decided to use the horn and nothing , took back to dealer and replaced under warranty …a year later the horn went out again and replaced under warranty last week . Next time I’ll get my own Hella Horn 👀.
@@johnsmith1034 every time I went to the dealer there was a wait for parts for a week . They horn itself it’s the cause not the switch in steering wheel . If it happens again I’ll replace the horn with a Hella horn . I would take it to dealer to have it check next time you go for service .
An intake does not hurt the engine and shouldn’t cause an issue with warranty. Every dealership is different though and some will threaten to void your warranty with any modification, but by law they can’t do that unless they can prove the mod caused the damage. I don’t know how expensive the fuel injectors are, but they’d be covered under your warranty anyway so it shouldn’t be any money out of pocket.
😂 It couldn’t have been this video that made your decision then, you already had your mind set on not getting a Hyundai. As stated in the video, these are potential problems. Most people don’t experience any of them.
Very interesting video, thanks for sharing. 18,000 miles on mine over 2 years. Luckily I have not encountered any of the problems listed so far, save for the thin, thin paint that was not the best quality when new. I did have the DCT recall performed early on, no big deal, no issues, and no cost. Sadly, I have hit a few cones and curbs and replacing parts on the front end is expensive and parts are getting hard to find. Online parts dealers are just awful and my local dealers will only deal with you in-person for some reason. The only issue I ran into was wheel bolts seizing on the studs, which required new studs in the rear and a new drive axle in the front. That is an expensive repair, but Hyundai worked with me and I cannot say enough good things about the warranty support I eventually received.
Wow that’s great news, except for the part about hitting cones and curbs of course, but they’re called accidents for a reason. Do you think the seized lug nuts were a result of the accident? I know it can happen randomly too because my wife’s Rav4 has had seized lug nuts that I’ve had to have removed and the studs replaced. Oddly enough it’s always on the same wheel (3 times now). So it sounds like you have a pretty early build if you’ve owned it 2 years and had the DCT recall, so that’s promising as far as reliability and longevity go. Thanks for the comment and enjoy those pops and bangs!!!
Thanks for the video! Well-documented. I have a 24 MT with about 1,900mi and no issues so far other than the collision warning thing.. but that’s modern cars for ya. A few theories about the knock sensor: 1. Water proofing on the connector probably isn’t great. I’m a big fan of my local touchless wash for getting the bird poop/pollen off the car in between hand washes. Do you think it’s a good idea to maybe wrap the connector for the sensor in shrink wrap and automotive tape? 2. Maybe the sensor also freaks out when it’s wet because the presence of water changes the tone of the audio it’s listening to? Knock sensors are just microphones and the ECU is expecting to hear noise at a certain Hz range. Imagine listening to music when you’re underwater in a pool.. almost impossible and can’t hear much detail, not to mention the change in pitch and frequency. Wonder if that has anything to do with it..
I own a 22 Elantra N with 24,000km. I didn't experience any issues other than a rear seat belt and DCT recall. Only slight issue I have is the rear parking sensor as I reverse out from the drive way to the road, it senses a car coming across where the car is not even close and immediately brake thinking it's going to collide. Then the car won't move for a few seconds whilst I am in the middle of the road making it quite dangerous.
Oh wow, that’s really odd. I’ve never had that happen or heard of it happening before. I have heard of a couple people having a warning pop up on their dash having to do with the back sensors, but not what you described. That’s worrisome.
1) Won't have the knock sensor issue based on how you described it. A) I hardly ever rains enough here for long enough to drive thru, and I definitely won't be taking this car thru a car wash. 2) I've had that collision warning thing. It happens to me a lot at stop signs, which is weird because I'm clearly slowed way down or near stopped but there's a car ahead so it beeps at me. 3) I think i'm a fairly late VIN for 2023, I've only had it for 3 months. 4) EEK! I'm not tuned. I only have a BOV on mine. Hopefully that doesn't count, lol. 5) I think my clutch is installed right. I don't see any recalls from the app for mine. 6) N/A since I have a manual 7) I've only used my horn once so far. I'll keep an eye (ear) out for that. I"m glad they gave this car a nice beefy horn tho. My 2011 Optima has a shit horn! 8) I have been cognizant of my alignment so I back into my garage every time because we have pretty large sloped curves on our homes here. Haven't experienced the pull so far. 9) Have not noticed the rattling yet on cold start. 10) I had a couple of chips pretty quickly on my hood. Nothing rattling quite yet, but I really hate when that happens.
@@plasticksrt - BOV doesn't affect stock boost tho. It's an air release valve just like the stock one, only louder. It doesn't inject any power or change any computer dynamics.
Yes I always get that alarm warning on screen that yes I hear it but when I look can’t even tell what it shows cuz yes takes a second or two and disappear lol no chance to see, plus my room the trim there that are matte black or so they faded for me already and the window trims I noticed the scratches there as you mentioned and paint is horrible lol all my front is like how you have but worse and I only got 14k miles, so yes hopefully Hyundai see those recommendations and issues and can do recall and make those cars more valuable and better. And my bad when you said warranty on trim, does that include with the warranty car comes with or? Like what kinda warranty this car comes with cuz I’m so lost and don’t get cuz the dealer had replaced my lug nuts free saying has warranty never knew that feel me?
The car comes with a 5 year/60,000 mile bumper to bumper warranty which covers pretty much anything that isn’t considered a wear and tear item like brakes, tires, etc. The window trim should definitely be covered.
I've had a 23 for a year, and i definitely hear the cold start rattle, and ive felt it pulling to the right sometimes. Biggest problems ive seen is popping tires. Blew 2 in the first 2 months of owning and decided to switch to 18 inch rims and tires. The next issue has been the wired android auto or apple car play. It constantly cuts out then comes back on, sometimes you have to unplug and plug it back in. Tried different wires and different phones. Hopefully, the switch to usb-c in the 24 fixes the issue. And finally ive already seen at least one comment about Hyundai service dept and the shitty stories are all true.
I'm glad my 2024 Elantra N-line came with 18in tires. That's the largest I like my tires while still getting good performance but less risk of a blowout. I almost got a used 2023 Sonata N-line for the same price but it spun tires like crazy and also had 19in tires. 18in tires are a lot cheaper
I've had the car new for 1.5 years and only had the knock sensor issue once after a car wash with underbody wash. Very annoying, I wish Hyundai would issue a TSB and make a cover to make sure the sensor doesn't get wet.
11:18 I was looking for something like this, my i30N (European market) has a weird rattle in the exhaust where the valve is located when I: A) Suddenly rev the engine from minimum RPM with the valve open B) Slowly release the clutch to make the car move while the valve is closed I’d assume this could either be a factory defect or the results of high vibrations… anyone else experienced this?
My 2022 Hyundai Elantra n gear box or something makes a clanking noise at low speed acceleration and slowing down. People say it’s normal but I hate it so much I wanna get rid of this car. Is there something wrong here?
I have a 2022 Veloster N with 15,000 miles on it and I’m just getting a new fuel injector because the other one went bad and had a small leak on turbo before.
Don’t let these things sway you from getting one. This is just the issues that come up in the owners groups, which is where everyone goes when they have a problem. The majority of owners, like myself, have had very little, if any issues. It’s a great car.
@@Courtesyflush52 I’m sure that definitely happens, as is with a lot of different cars. A lot of people also either get in a car payment above their heads even on a relatively inexpensive car or realize they need a truck. I’ve seen that strangely a lot.
@@n-power-automotive yes that too. I think both situations are usually because someone was impulsive with money. The cheap performance car sector is typically young guys with poor risk assessment
Hey guys I need your Help, I own a 2023 Elantra. The car is experiencing a significant loss of performance and with a full tank, it only travels between 150-170 miles. When I first start the car, it runs roughly and it takes a while for the RPM to decrease. Once the RPM decreases, it fluctuates. The engine also sounds like a diesel, making a lot of noise. I have already replaced the air filter, changed the spark plugs, and cleaned the throttle body, but the problem persists. Do you think the issue could be with the injectors? Milage is : 40K
@@n-power-automotive Do you think I should replace them all or clean them? Because the car is 40K.. I think it is changed at 60k at the earliest.. It is ridiculous that the injectors fail this early.
I put custom rims on. I left my winter tires on my stock rims. My car will not recognize the pressure sensors on the summer rims. Any advice? My mechanic even can't get it to register
The tire sensors that Tire Rack installed in my wheel and tire package are 433MHZ. I'd compare that to the ones in your wheels. Maybe it's incorrect. My Tire Rack sensors have worked fine and my car instantly recognized them.
2022 Veloster N DCT no issues just 1 recall. Perfect daily racer. 👌 simple performance fun. Check list: 1. Veloster N has an unbody plastic panel. 2. No chime issue. 3. Injector no issue. 4. Fuel pump no issue (stock). 5. Clutch N/A due to DCT. 6. DCT recalled done. 7. Horn no issue. 8. No suspension issue. 9. Exhaust no issue. 10. Rear defuser is soft plastic don't pressure wash it at level 10.
Here add another one USB port not working and breaks off went to the dealer with the KN dealer said they have had a few go bad just waiting for them to get and install a USB.
Just got the knock sensor issue yesterday took it to the car wash and 5 mins later flashing cel 😫 the car is still pretty much brand new with only 6000 miles on it hopefully they come up with a fix for it cause this is crazy 👎
No. It’s a completely different car in a lot of ways. It may have different issues, so my best advice is to do your homework so you know what to expect.
@@CrimpKeeper I’lll probably eventually get a spare ECU Stage 2 tune, but I haven’t decided which tuner yet. I was originally leaning N75, but now I’m thinking maybe SXTH.

Hi Todd, Thanx for putting this up and your channel. Will be on the lookout if any of these issues pop up. I track my DCT and all good so far….with the exception of unavailable track maps in Canada. I would appreciate if you can supply any discussion forums available that cover this model. Maybe because of the small numbers , I’m only finding bits and pieces for information and not easy to search.
I’m a fellow Elantra N owner and I have the forward collision warning issue and currently my car has one of its horns not working so I sounds like a Prius horn😂 I do live in south Florida and my steering wheel is also peeling but no big deal
Ugh that horn issue would drive me nuts 😟 but still, can you think of any other car for the money that can come close to the fun and performance? I haven’t found one yet!
All these issues yall are having in the Elantra N i havent experienced in my 2022 Elantra N Line at all, bought brand new and now has 36k miles on it. The high pressure fuel pump 6:50 is not a manufacturing issue tho, thats literally the customers own error.
I never said it was a manufacturing issue. It just simply can’t flow enough fuel to a stage 2 tuned car. They have gone bad on their own, but very rarely.
Mine is a 2022 6 speed manual. I had it for over 1 year and 4 months. #6 problem not for my car. 1,3,4,5,7,8,9 hasn’t happen yet. #2 happens a lot and #10 for the paint is happening right now
Coworker just bought one. When you first start the car, turning left it sounds like the tire is rubbing in the fender, it's like a squeak or rubbing sound. Once car is warmed up it goes away. The manager at the Hyundai store has a Elantra N as well where he bought it and said his does the same thing.
77,000km and 2 years with my 2022 elantra N(6 speed) and i jave the front sensor thing. It has not an active exhaust rattle but i metal squeek. But my biggest ossues and its been like it since day 1 is bad batteries. If i have tje car on but not running the battery will die is 30 minutes

i got a p2096 pst catalyst fuel trim system too lean. only time i experience this issue with once i get the car to fuel learn and tries to make over 15psi. car will just drop psi in higher RPM and be unstable with its boost. ordered new upgraded pump to see if it will help. currently stock tune but sxth intake, turbo inlet, lower mount, powerflex uper mount bushing and trans bushing, catless header, sxth bov, sxth catch can, msd coilpacks, ngk step colder plugs
@MeltingRubberZ28 had 0 issue for long time with aftermarket DP. O2 sensors are still in good condition and I have a vibrant o2 fouler installed on my DP also.
I have a 2020 VN and can confirm about the pulling to the right also its rare to see but also the Electronic Rack and pinion will strip its Gears and will need to be replaced i had that done after Owning the car for 2 years But it still pulls to the right Tried some aftermarket, swiber links and still don't fix.
Ironically someone on the FB group was just discussing that issue today and another person chimed in and said he kept going out of alignment until he put in aftermarket subframe inserts and since then it’s stated in spec. Might be worth trying?
im currently and owner of the 2023 elantra n we have the same exact car. were there any issues now that you have heard of that are still on going from the 2022 models that are still an issue for the 23 models
Good question. I’m not totally sure if any are 2022 specific or not, other than the clutch being installed backward and the DCT recall, which I believe were only issues with the 2022s.
Hi I like your video I just bought EN 2022 what you think about jb4 and spark plugs is it safe or I’m gonna have problems with fuel pump what’s your advice thanks
Congrats! Some people don’t have any issues running JB4 with the stock fuel pump, but others do, so my suggestion is go ahead and try it and it you notice hesitation of power loss at wide open throttle, it’s likely your fuel pump, so you’re better off changing that out. I don’t believe it’s actually damaging anything, it’s just preventing the car from running its best.
I love the looks of the car we call the i30 N sedan down under. There is no manual option here. The Elantra name was on another car. Our Wheels Car Magazine mentions front sensor problem and some unwanted creep on the DCT. But the driver loved the car. The pops and bangs annoyed his better half quite a bit. Neighbours also. It retails for around $55k here. Cheers.
6 monthes after the original knock sensor replaced it happened AGAIN...ANOTHER ONE! This time their techline said to replace the ECU and the next carwash the 1326 came up, just like for the ECU (no ECU code either) and then dialetric grease was suggested and while test driving THAT fix the 1326 code popped again. Next they found a corroded ground wire for the ECU, same 1326 code but after waiting a week to wash it popped AGAIN🙄 Now they finally replaced the knock sensor but my paper work showed them checking for carbon build up when removing the intake manifold...no carbon build up, im at 16K. I'm afraid to use the touch-free wash and I've contacted Hyundai corporate...stay "tuned"👈
I have an Elantra hybrid limited 2023 it's going back with 11k miles for the DCT and horn not working as you mentioned. I've had the combustion engine not turn on several times. What a joke I'm hoping they buy it back from me it was a great car to begin with.
The front collision warning also happen to my elantra hybrid limited with less than 5k miles i bought it new it got so bad that my car will stop in a parking lot and not move unless I turn the car off hyundai responce to this was we cant figure it out 2 weeks later i sold the car not even owing it for 6 months
I test drove this car and the Mark 8 GTI 40th anniversary edition and obviously I went with the GTI only because the bill quality is better their engine is tried and true. The Elantra is an amazing car beautiful but at the end of the day the GTI has been around for 40 years and they've had plenty of time to Iron Out The Kinks and this Mark 8 GTI is absolutely amazing for the price point
I was cross shopping the Mk. 8 GTI when I was looking but quickly ruled it out because of the limited physical buttons and haptic controls on the steering wheel. Great car though - I miss my Mk. 7.5 GTI!
It goes down to the fact that you pat more for the golf because you have a better car. You can’t expect to pay way less for a hyundai and have a car with similar build quality and reliability as a vw or other european and japanese brand.
Didn’t mean for it to steer you away from the Elantra N. All manufacturers have issues and these are just some that can happen. Most of us have had great experiences and no major issues at all.
For the people who don't own a code reader.. here is how you reset your ECU because a cheap scanners aren't powerful enough to erase permanent codes: -have your ignition to "ON" position, unplug the ECU connector, turn the ignition "off" then start the car. This erases ALL the codes.
Havnt had knocking problem with my 23 i use premium fuel so maybe thats why?. Had it since jan. I do have the collision sensor go off. Seems to happen when there's a shiny black truck in front of me. My wife's outlander does it too she said. The N is fast af tho lol
Appreciate the info!! I might just go with the Elantra N-line instead of the N. The Elantra N just has to many problems. I would be at the dealership every month. No thanks!!
Ive been looking for a N and im glad im staying with my 2019 accord 2.0. Ive seen nothing but problems with this car and theor customer service seems to be atrocious. I couldnt afford a type r so i was looking at this and all the REAL world reviews dont seem good. Ill still watch the channel though 🙏
See what’s funny is I had a bunch of big problems with my 2021 Accord 2.0T. My Elantra N has had way less issues. But I can see why this video scares people away. This is just what COULD go wrong, not what DOES go wrong with most Elantra N’s. I don’t think I did a good job communicating that in the video.
@@n-power-automotive it was clear -- seems many are looking for excuses to convince themselves. We have owned Hondas for past 20 years. Many issues. Current Honda Accord '15 LX with 60K miles seems to be doing okay for now.
i looked at a few other states, some are even 85 db engine noise in sport mode at 50ft! looks like the elantra N is basically illegal in most states. probably the reason why it's being dumped in the used car market on autotrader so hard. too bad! also, I read the 400z had to get a new muffler because it was loud too.
The EN is a loud car in N mode, but so are Hellcats, GT500s, any AMG, etc. As long as the car is tested in Normal mode, like it’s supposed to be, it’ll pass. Now, for those states that have decibel limits that police enforce, if you’re in N mode and blast by a police officer, than yeah, you can be pulled over. That is not the reason for the used ones out there. Most of the time they’re being traded in or sold because people either get in over their heads with auto loans or people decide after purchasing that they need a bigger vehicle. Those are the reasons I’m seeing explained.
Here's my experience with the knock sensor, a little long but SOLID, useful info about to be told! About a month ago I ran my EN through the touch-free wash I've been using for over a calender year. For the record, I've been using this wash multiple times a week, so it's been through the wash 100x's (I'm not kidding here, I've got a monthly subscription) Anywho, I got out of the wash, drove about 100 feet, turned onto the street and flashing CEL, code 1326...knock sensor! Since the dealership wasn't open yet and my work is about 1/2 mile down the road I just drove to work and let it sit till my day was over. I took it in and the next day they couldn't find a problem, cleared the code and reset the parameters and had me pick it up. Well it ran fine but 2 days later it did the SAME THING going through the same wash, so I dropped it off again and once again the same "fix". I then waited 2 weeks and washed it again but this time I purchased a code reader to erase the code like they did, another dealership told me to do this...well it didn't work so off to the dealership for the THIRD TIME! Inbetween the 2nd and 3rd time I contacted Hyundai corporate and opened a case, got a signed a case manager and they contacted me in less than a week. I told them my RIDICULOUS story and then they got back to me via email stating there's no fix in the works! Meanwhile the dealership took some initiative and replaced the knock sensor and when I picked up my car the SA wasn't full of confidence or compassion about this working, great! I tested the "fix" 2 days later and IT WORKED! Since then I've washed the EN at the same touch-free wash 5 or 6 more times without an issue, actually washed it today after work❗️ If anyone has questions feel free to ask away, maybe we can force them to FIX IT🙏
So do you think it was just a coincidence, or do you think it was a bad sensor? Just trying up piece together what conclusion to come to from your story. Regardless I’m glad you figured it out!
@n-power-automotive I don't really know because if it was bad why didn't it rear it's head sooner....but maybe the 100+ plus washes killed the sensor🤔 I'm open to any and all comments here, thanks for making this video and I've sent it to my case manager, even though my car is fixed we need to ban together and at the very least send them THIS video because it's fair and factual ❗️
Fantastic video. Hyundai definitely needs to fix some of these problems. I doubt they will though. But I hope. It would have been a good idea to mention 2022 or 2023 because some of those problems that you talked about don't affect 2023s.
I had the horn issue happen to me, only thing is I’m not in a humid climate or right by the ocean. So I don’t think that’s necessarily the root of the issue
Overall, im experiencing 5 out 10 of what you mentioned. Thank you for mentioning these problems of the EN. We appreciate it much.
You’re very welcome

Most common problem: the service department and Hyundai corp
Starting with trying to put in the wrong oil.... Lmao
No doubt, but I’ve already made a video on that lol.
So true, home service the best.

Still have it? Seen plenty for sale with 10-15k miles, wondering if it gets boring or has issues.
This is a very good video. Should have one of these for every car

I have the 2022 Kona N, one year,16000miled , no problems, love ❤️ the car, fun and reliable!
This video is pretty accurate I've experienced 4 of these issues with my PB DCT and heard about the rest.
Ugh, 4 of them, huh? Which ones have you experienced? What year is your EN?
Interesting!
Prob cus they're built a lot better in Korea 😂
@@SgawCulesall Elantra Ns are Korean made… and many regular Elantras are… Korean… made.
2:49 I have the same issue. I ended up replacing the front camera and it helped for a bit but it’s started doing it again
I got off topic there but maybe someone will read that and judge how they've been treated at the dealer 🤷♂️
Anyway, thanks again, man. I appreciate your videos ✌️
OH, also, I just put in 2 gallons of regular fuel for the first time.
Less of a concern with an intercooler but yes, it’s not a cold air intake.
I had the horn issue, replaced under warranty and no issues since.
I bought my VN DCT in July 2021. drove the car for almost 3 months until I decided to use the horn and nothing , took back to dealer and replaced under warranty …a year later the horn went out again and replaced under warranty last week . Next time I’ll get my own Hella Horn 👀.

Does putting a cold air intake hurt the engine also doesnt that void the warranty ?also is the fuel injector exspensive to fix if it goes bad

Hyundai cars are trash, don't buy any of them.
Good video. Hyundai should recall and repair these issues
The alignment issue I got straight from the dealer brand new, I ended up getting it fixed and now its so much better
So strange, but glad you got it sorted out!
@@n-power-automotive yeah I’ve only ever had that issue I’m currently at 11k miles and everything else is good
Thanks for the video! Well-documented. I have a 24 MT with about 1,900mi and no issues so far other than the collision warning thing.. but that’s modern cars for ya.
A few theories about the knock sensor:
Are most of these issues addressed in the 2023 or 2024 models?
Some are, some aren’t. Some experience a couple of these issues, some experience none of these issues. It’s really hard to say.
knock sensor is a hyundai/ kia problem with a code reader if you erase the code it goes away instantly this used to happen to me alot in my kia optima
Ah interesting. Thanks for the info!
6) N/A since I have a manual
7) I've only used my horn once so far.
If you read the manual any type of device that can affect stock boost control (BOV counts) will contribute to Hyundai voiding your warranty
@@plasticksrt - BOV doesn't affect stock boost tho. It's an air release valve just like the stock one, only louder. It doesn't inject any power or change any computer dynamics.
Lets see if they fix any of this in the 2024 model
Exactly. Seems like it’d be a pretty simple thing to make.
11:18 I was looking for something like this, my i30N (European market) has a weird rattle in the exhaust where the valve is located when I:
A) Suddenly rev the engine from minimum RPM with the valve open
B) Slowly release the clutch to make the car move while the valve is closed
I’d assume this could either be a factory defect or the results of high vibrations… anyone else experienced this?
My 2022 Hyundai Elantra n gear box or something makes a clanking noise at low speed acceleration and slowing down. People say it’s normal but I hate it so much I wanna get rid of this car. Is there something wrong here?
It’s normal for DCTs to make more noise than traditional torque converter automatics. How loud is it? Mind makes noise but nothing too loud.

That really sucks. Sorry to hear that.
I’m planning to get an Elantra n but I was surprised to see so many used low mile cars for cheap.. and now I know the reason
Don’t let these things sway you from getting one. This is just the issues that come up in the owners groups, which is where everyone goes when they have a problem. The majority of owners, like myself, have had very little, if any issues. It’s a great car.
From what I can tell, there's a lot of used EN because people bought them instead of another car then sold it when they got the car they wanted
@@Courtesyflush52 I’m sure that definitely happens, as is with a lot of different cars. A lot of people also either get in a car payment above their heads even on a relatively inexpensive car or realize they need a truck. I’ve seen that strangely a lot.

Stock tune with an aftermarket downpipe? Come on man
@MeltingRubberZ28 had 0 issue for long time with aftermarket DP. O2 sensors are still in good condition and I have a vibrant o2 fouler installed on my DP also.

Can you please tell me what exactly wheel and tires you are running ! They are beautiful! Thanks

@n-power-automotive ill look in to it thanks for the info
im currently and owner of the 2023 elantra n we have the same exact car. were there any issues now that you have heard of that are still on going from the 2022 models that are still an issue for the 23 models
@@n-power-automotive if there is any hesitation, if I go back to stock, do I still have to replace the fuel pump or no thanks
@@gooddays8051 no only if you’re still running the JB4. I’d also go back to the stock spark plugs too if you decided to remove the JB4.
Cheers.
There is absolutely a manual option in Australia. I sat in one at my local dealer before I got my DCT delivered...
My rattle was pretty bad in my exhaust. Wasn’t just when I started the car. Dealer replaced my whole muffler and it’s gone, sounds so much better
Where did u get the wheels, and what size are they, what brand?
Tire Rack Sport Edition 18x8
Love the smaller rims and larger tires. What sizes are you running and what tires?
Thanks! I’m running 18x8 +45 wheels with 245/40-18 Continental DSW 06 + tires.
Nice wheels, are those stock? If not what brand are they?
Not stock… 18x8 Sport Edition A15-2
6 monthes after the original knock sensor replaced it happened AGAIN...ANOTHER ONE!
This time their techline said to replace the ECU and the next carwash the 1326 came up, just like for the ECU (no ECU code either) and then dialetric grease was suggested and while test driving THAT fix the 1326 code popped again. Next they found a corroded ground wire for the ECU, same 1326 code but after waiting a week to wash it popped AGAIN🙄
Now they finally replaced the knock sensor but my paper work showed them checking for carbon build up when removing the intake manifold...no carbon build up, im at 16K.
I'm afraid to use the touch-free wash and I've contacted Hyundai corporate...stay "tuned"👈
Yeah the Elantra N does not like automatic car washes. My car is filthy right now and it’s still too cold to wash it myself, so it’s staying dirty.
@n-power-automotive mine made it through 1 year, multiple times a week and the 2nd one 6 monthes, multiple times a week.
is the knock sensor issue fixed w/ new 2024 or 2025 models??
@@prodigyfreeman3935 I’m honestly not sure
I have an Elantra hybrid limited 2023 it's going back with 11k miles for the DCT and horn not working as you mentioned. I've had the combustion engine not turn on several times. What a joke I'm hoping they buy it back from me it was a great car to begin with.
Just to mention, the collision sensors and lane keep camera has been acting funny lately
Ugh that’s too bad. My neighbors have an Elantra Hybrid and they’ve had no issues so far. So are they saying the DCT needs to be replaced???
Please explain what happens to the car when the underneath sensor gets wet.
You’ll get a check engine light and the car will go into limp mode where it won’t go over a certain speed and RPM.
@@n-power-automotiveWherever you are, it's more than likely you'll need a tow. Thank for the clarification.
The front collision warning also happen to my elantra hybrid limited with less than 5k miles i bought it new it got so bad that my car will stop in a parking lot and not move unless I turn the car off hyundai responce to this was we cant figure it out 2 weeks later i sold the car not even owing it for 6 months
Loving my gr corolla but this was something I was looking at
I’m sure the GR Corolla is a lot of fun
@@n-power-automotive it’s a riot for sure. Hopefully one day I can try out an Elantra N. Maybe convince the girl to get one
The GTI is and will always be an iconic car. I’ve never owned one, but I’ve definitely had them on my radar before.
I was cross shopping the Mk. 8 GTI when I was looking but quickly ruled it out because of the limited physical buttons and haptic controls on the steering wheel. Great car though - I miss my Mk. 7.5 GTI!
@JR-os2dp I understand, but in reality the button situation was gotten over quickly and are easy to use
@@GLI_1701 that's promising, thanks! Another GTI may one day be in the future then.
It goes down to the fact that you pat more for the golf because you have a better car. You can’t expect to pay way less for a hyundai and have a car with similar build quality and reliability as a vw or other european and japanese brand.
There's so many problems oh my gosh. Definitely not getting this car thank you for this video!
Didn’t mean for it to steer you away from the Elantra N. All manufacturers have issues and these are just some that can happen. Most of us have had great experiences and no major issues at all.
You are very gullible 😂
Had mine over a year now. Thank god I don’t have a single one of those problems other than the pain chipping
You should have got some PPF.
What brand of catch can is that?
ADD-W1
For the people who don't own a code reader.. here is how you reset your ECU because a cheap scanners aren't powerful enough to erase permanent codes:
-have your ignition to "ON" position, unplug the ECU connector, turn the ignition "off" then start the car. This erases ALL the codes.
My steering wheel isn’t straight up it a bit toward right
That’s very strange.
the same thing happens to my Hyundai Elantra N line horn, alignment, and other things like those of the N
Interesting. I didn’t know that.
What’s the link for the forge filter
Don’t have a link just for the filter. The Forge website should give you the info you need.
I was thinking about getting one, and I know a few people who own it, and they all have different issues. I'm really undecided.
There’s always gonna be some that have issues. Really that’s for any manufacturer/model. So far so issues with mine.
Havnt had knocking problem with my 23 i use premium fuel so maybe thats why?. Had it since jan. I do have the collision sensor go off. Seems to happen when there's a shiny black truck in front of me. My wife's outlander does it too she said. The N is fast af tho lol
Good to hear! I only use premium fuel as well and never have had any knock either.
Appreciate the info!! I might just go with the Elantra N-line instead of the N. The Elantra N just has to many problems. I would be at the dealership every month. No thanks!!
Thank you for helping me decide to stick with Toyota. 🙂
You’re welcome?
A very informative video. Thank you
Ive been looking for a N and im glad im staying with my 2019 accord 2.0.
For the record, I've been using this wash multiple times a week, so it's been through the wash 100x's (I'm not kidding here, I've got a monthly subscription)
Anywho, I got out of the wash, drove about 100 feet, turned onto the street and flashing CEL, code 1326...knock sensor!
Since then I've washed the EN at the same touch-free wash 5 or 6 more times without an issue, actually washed it today after work❗️
If anyone has questions feel free to ask away, maybe we can force them to FIX IT🙏
So do you think it was just a coincidence, or do you think it was a bad sensor? Just trying up piece together what conclusion to come to from your story. Regardless I’m glad you figured it out!
@n-power-automotive I don't really know because if it was bad why didn't it rear it's head sooner....but maybe the 100+ plus washes killed the sensor🤔
I'm open to any and all comments here, thanks for making this video and I've sent it to my case manager, even though my car is fixed we need to ban together and at the very least send them THIS video because it's fair and factual ❗️
@@klasseact6663maybe don’t wash your car every 2 days….. that’s known to kill sensors in new cars.
@@bryanr93 how about rain🤪
@bryanribey not washing the engine bay, just the car😋
Does a standard Elantra have these issues too? Or standard and N have an absolutely different engines? Thanks
Completely different
@@n-power-automotive which one is more reliable? I am choosing between Elantra and Elantra N, cuz I like their prices, but worry about maintenance...
@@Nickolaskey1 I know very little about a base Elantra. I didn’t cross shop them. They’re completely different vehicles in almost every way.
Fantastic video. Hyundai definitely needs to fix some of these problems. I doubt they will though. But I hope. It would have been a good idea to mention 2022 or 2023 because some of those problems that you talked about don't affect 2023s.
Thank you. Yes, I should have mentioned if it was only a 2022 thing like the DCT and backwards clutch.
could be worse.
would u recomend for a first car
That’s hard to say
Nice wheels. I'm getting the same ones on my MK8 GTI. I like the Elantra but seems like a lot of problems.
These are potential problems. Most owners don’t have any or just one or two of the little ones. As a MK8 owner you should be familiar with problems 😂
Sounds like a typical Hyundai to me. Worked for them during the metal shavings in the sonata engines debacle.
I had the horn issue happen to me, only thing is I’m not in a humid climate or right by the ocean. So I don’t think that’s necessarily the root of the issue
Good info, thanks. It was just a guess as to what might be causing it.
