    Thanks a lot.
    Note: I was a bit stressed when in my post-mix it said 1 with a half-filled blue bar. In the CD matrix they clarified that it means that it has gone through one pre-mix, and that it is now waiting to find peers for the second one. This can take 30 minutes or even a few days, before the second one takes place.

    I'm running some mixes in Sparrow Wallet right now. As said in this tutorial the Premix goes through fairly quickly, in a matter of hours. But the Postmix however does require a massive amount patience. Right now I'm 3 days into my mix process and only 4 out of 25 UTXOs have mixed for the second time. It's like watching my beard growing in the mirror. 🙂

      The app needs to be open, my wallet has been open 5 days... 4 days waiting for 2nd mixes on 6 utxos... 2 days waiting for any action on UTXOs eligible for remix for somthing to happen...they just get bumped out of cue after a random amount of time for some reason or another and a new one takes its place..

    Ben, I have 2 questions that I really need help with.
    1. If your main stack is all KYC, sitting in cold storage already, and you want to gain some privacy by using coinjoins, is there any harm in sending the new coinjoined UTXOs BACK to the same wallet (using different addresses of course). Just trying to simplify the amount of steel backups there are.
    2. In addition, is it better to coinjoin with the largest denomination you can? Or is it better to have many smaller UTXOS for some reason? I guess the latter would mean people you transact with don't know the amount of your full stack?

    • @AKBitcoinArt
      @AKBitcoinArt ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Wondering the same thing. I figure it out, that you can use the same wallet, yes. But boy, it's so time consuming ! Sitting on second mix from a week. Is this normal ?

    Excellent tutorial. One question on mixing best practices. If mixing both KYC and Non-KYC sats (kept separated prior to mixing) using Sparrow/Whirlpool, is it best practice to still keep them in separate cold storage after mixing or is it ok to mix directly into same cold storage wallet when # mixes complete? Seems like it would be ok to keep in same wallet once KYC links are broken but would be good to know for sure. Thanks!

    what if your hardware wallet CANNOT be connected and "open" while you are trying to "mix to" that wallet? say for example I have an airgapped wallet that doesnt have the capability of being plugged in. this is the part I am not understanding. are you able to still transfer around those "post mixed" txo's around and they remain mixed? the only solution I am seeing to this is, if I were to "mix to" and send it a hot wallet or really any other wallet, then once received there, ill be able to send it to my airgapped wallet. will this work @BTC Sessions or will it break the mixing process? thanks for your feedback.

    Ensure that you create a new hot wallet in sparrow that is standard native segwit m/84'/0'/0'. This wallet CANNOT be indexed to a higher account, or any other derivation path type (at the moment).
    Remixes will happen over time. I've run about 500,000 sats through for a test run, and had six remixes in six days. It's going to take a while to get to 5-10 remixes if you want to mix out to cold storage. Unfortunately you will need to keep the computer awake and connected to tor the entire time 24 hours a day. This means setting your sleep/battery settings to never sleep or screen saver. Just dim your screen to black when not using. Download amphetamine or similar to keep the computer awake.

  • @danhelios7557

    This was way over my head and nearly put me to sleep, but it's an important topic.
    I don't expect to spend BTC in my lifetime (I'm already too old to die young), but the longer the industry exists, the more ignorant I become.
    If I DO spend money, it'll be through lightning -- basically a whole different topic.
    So... if I fund a LN wallet with small money from cold storage, and then make local purchases over LN, does that provide me with any privacy? Put another way, if I buy a pizza using LN, is the transaction traceable to the cold wallet I funded the LN wallet with -- and thus ultimately be traced to my purchase at a regular exchange?

    • @benallen7564
      @benallen7564 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The funding transaction can still be traced, so to separate the connection from your LN wallet to your identity you should still fund your LN wallet through whirlpooled funds. The actual pizza transaction is not directly traceable but your direct peers do know you spent some money. Not on what or where it went but they can see your channel balance shift.

    • @benallen7564
      @benallen7564 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Similarly the pizza restaurant will see which of their peer channels shifted but not the entire route where the funds came from.

    • @benallen7564

    Quick question, for larger amounts of BTC in the whirpool, is it safe to have them mixing in those hot wallets for such a long time?
    Also, have you figured out how to deal with doxxic change (badbank)? I read that it is not safe to mix them with the postmix funds, also not safe mixing all the badbank change into one big coinjoin. I am kinda confused on that part. The badbank amount will fill to a large amount over time.
    There was an option to depostit chunks of badbank into a non KYC wallet, wait for a while and then send it combined to a cold wallet?

    • @BTCSessions

      You obtain forward facing privacy. AKA if you spend Bitcoin, the receiver cannot trace your transaction backwards to see how much money you have and what you do with it.
      The thing that is not undone by coinjoin is that the exchange you bought from is still aware you previously purchased Bitcoin.

      I would suggest you watch Ben's earlier mentioned video about his full video on Sparrow Wallet. If you mean can you add a new "passphrase" on an existing wallet the answer is no. When adding a passphrase to an existing 12 or 24-word seed phrase you create a new wallet. Each new passphrase creates a new wallet using a combination of the existing seed phrase and the passphrase.
