If Sika uses dried flowers instead of fresh, the colors won't change as much next time!
Can't fresh ones mold in resin?
I think they might mold if there is air in the resin. But the color change came from the heat of the resin. The moisture from flowers can make it so some resins don't set properly.

Also, the fresh flowers can adversely affect the curing of the resin.

Since you didn't dry the flowers they tend to change colors and they'll Wilt over time in the resin because they're not dried. Alongside drying them I would suggest mod podge or some kind of protectant and that would keep them from changing color.
They will still change color with the mod podge. I learned the hard way. Like most crafters do. 😀
I saw another TH-camr test this, definitely dry them! I think they'd work well if they were pressed.
Use silica gel to dry them. It will keep the flowers from turning yellow or brown
My worry is that they not wear any protective gear. (respirator, gloves) I understand that is a little amount of resin and epoxy is the least toxic type of resin, and one respirator is expensive....but at least put a little warning laber on the screen for novice viewers. :)
If you want to dry them without spending any more money. You can use two plates with kitchen towel in the middle of them place flowers in the middle. Then microwave in 30 intervals until they are dry 👍🙂

I just wanted to jump in here; those purple flowers Sika picked are called Creeping Charlie, or Ground Ivy. it's in the mint family an is actually edible as a salad green

These self defense knifey things are something that makes me want to do resin. I still really want to but I need to wait for the time being.
Those kives aren’t for cutting they’re self defense tools meant for “stabbing” without wounding severely. They’re a replacement for keeping keys between your fingers. You should be able to hold them between two fingers with comfort :)

except that's just as dangerous to yourself as putting keys between your fingers. you can break skin or potentially break your hand if you do
@@sesshomaruslover1 of course you can still break your skin, keys just aren’t effective and won’t startle an attacker and only hurt you instead. These are not supposed to ever be used but sadly we live in a world where people have to because some people are crap. They’re meant to scare more than hurt.

Purple one are forget me not, white one is wild strawberry (yep they do grow in my backyard and their ready to eat size is about the purples flower)
I really hope Siki checks out the channel Artsy Madwoman if she ever wants to try putting flowers in resin again, she has a ton of videos on how to dry and prepare the flowers for resin, with how creative this first piece was I’d love to see what she comes up with with the correct flower technique

All 3 pieces are fantastic! The Blue/Gold one reminds me of an athame used for rituals. Beautiful work ladies!!!
The violets turned green bc they are ph sensitive. The resin must be acidic. If you add them to a base they will turn pink! So cool!

When I saw jackie doing her second knife all I got was Egyptian vibes with the blue and gold, and the crescent moon and the stars remained me of Khonsu.

I've also tried putting flowers in resin, but they turned brown. I think it's the resin that makes them degrade faster, I'd suggest testing drying and pressing flowers beforehand.
So pretty! My favorite is probably the starry blue and gold one.
By the way, the white flowers are strawberry flowers. If you check your backyard in the late summer, you'll find teeny wild strawberries under those leaves (assuming the ants/wildlife don't eat them all first) =)

I think you can find dried flowers on amazon for resin crafting and since they are dried they shouldn't change color. I loved the mystical looking one. I think it would be really cool to see it sanded.

All 3 knives are so beautiful! My fave is the "wand" because it has so much depth and the colors are just fantastic! Gold pieces & glitter & jewels, oh my!
So I have 2 favorites, the wand like one, and the nature inspired one. Both are so amazing. Functionality, Sika's nature one, but for décor alone, the wand like one.

2 suggestions for you: 1. collect, press and dry plant material before using it in resin. 2. Use UV resin: less fumes and it will cure in minutes instead of hours. I use a 72W nail lamp for my projects

There's nothing stopping them from buying extra resin to use with a box. The supplies that are sent are more than enough to make several projects, the only exception being the resin.
Sika needs dried flowers for the colors to stay. The resin partially cooked it!! All are lovely and unique!! The third one really looks like a wand hiding in a magical knife!! 👏👏
The longest knife with blue sparkly stuff is my favourite.
flowers have moisture within them, so u gotta dry them out before encasing them in resin to avoid the resin reacting with the water ~
(personally i like using floral drying silica gel because it allows flowers to retain their shape and color)

I just have to say that I LOVE the addition of Sika to the crafting videos. It's nice to have that contrast of an experienced crafter to someone just beginning. I love crafting by myself, but I really enjoy it when I get to share the experience with someone. Plus seeing someone new get into a craft or art is so satisfying. You can almost see the wheels turning as they work.
I get that same enjoyment watching Sika craft. She just becomes so alive and focused. From my personal experience, after you become really comfortable (or experienced) with a craft or art it can be a little clinical ( idk if that makes sense to anyone else). You get so concerned with not making mistakes and getting a specific result; That you sort of loss that sense of wonder. I'm not sure if any of that makes sense to anyone else.
Long story short: Love Jackie and watching her channel because of her. She inspired me to get back into crafting and art. I've found a few channels I absolutely love because of her.
But, I'm so pleased to see Sika in more videos, because I get to watch that sense of wonder and expression that a beginner goes through while trying something completely new.

Watching sika works with the flowers reminded me how much I love speed drying flowers, which is also great for resin! You just pick the flowers you want, smush them between some paper or paper towels, put them in the microwave with something heavy (and microwave safe) on top, then microwave for about 15 second intervals until they’re dry!
You two should do more resin charms and things together. These are really fun, colourful and sooo sparkly! :-D
