The "customer"... wanted you to fill the body lines... with Bondo... on the hood... that gets hot... then cold... and slammed... I'd love to see a recent picture of that job.
You should seriously remove this video...Fiber glassing over slightly sanded clear coat, using body filler to fill up deep body lines, sanding the primer with a scuffing sponge rather than blocking by hand..And worst of all you can't even mix body filler properly! This is why so many panel shops have such a bad reputation and ruin it for the rest of us.
lol, i purchased the exact Westin large hood scoop for $60 at Summit Racing in Nevada... all i did was peel and stick it on, polish it up with Meguiar Final Destination and it was ready in under an hour and gorgeous... i could see doing all this work if the hood scoop was functional... its just an Ornament decoration... but to each his own... he did a good job at what he wanted to do... anyways... the beat goes on........even though he forgot to put mesh in the scoop intake...
WOW!!! I learned something from this video DON'T take any of my vehicles anywhere near your shop. I lost count trying to keep up with the mistakes that were made from the very beginning. Dont know how many brain cells died watching this
people lie on their titles just to get a view ....the title is how to mold a scoop not how to improve looks but yeah its great stuff i finally see ....good video....
It looked ok in the end but thats a ton of filler thats gonna shrink and my guess crack fairly soon.... Plus its non functioning properly so there's that.... This is definitely not a how to video LoL 😂😂😂😂 🎉🎉🎉
you never pt any bonding agent on a painted surface, the hood should have been bare metal and the adhesive would be placed between the scoop and hood bult up with fiberglass and sanded and refilled with fiberglass and then duraglass and very little filler, and a hood still might not last a very long time because of flex ,heat and slamming the hood
I just found this, wow....I don't know what to do, laugh or giggle like the other 33448765278 people that has seen this? I'm flying 30tho feet in the air on my home and can't stop laughing lol. What you have seen, can not be unseen.
lol you changed a dodge hood to a wrx..congratz!lol (dont get me wrong i love my wrx) i actually flinched when you started sanding on the snazzy newish hood ha. nice finished work tho and good video flow for tutorial
End result was a good looking scoop, why did you go through all that trouble if it was not going to be functional? Good job regardless,I would of just made it fuctional, helps dissapate all that engine heat...good video!!!
i would say a few words but i wont. i think alot of you had already said it. i live in hawaii and believe it or not you may think we are dumb in body work but this would be a waste of time for me to do on my truck. im no out there for only looks. im out there for looks and the performance, if i am going to spend that much money for paint, bondo, glue, resin, and fiberglass not to mention the time and effort, yea i would make it work for what it is made for...PERFORMANCE.
great job fellas!! although there are others that do it other ways ,but cant see why they get so pissy about it ,a good job well done, have seen allot worse .. cheers
I dont get it? with all that time you spent doing that work, why didn't you at least cut out the under part and make that scoop do something useful. And if you where just going for the looks, I think its easier to just paint the scoop and then glue it to the scoop or use that real thin double sided tape. IDK I think u could have done alot better. But good job on the paint. It looks good, and smooth for real. You should put some black grill on the front under lip if you arent gonna cut the hole out. Like that it looks like is there for something.
i wouldnt let this guy wash my car, much less do a hood scoop......might have just as well made the entire scoop out of bondo and thrown it at the hood from 12 feet away
Please tell me this video is a joke? i wouldnt do this "quality" of work to my worst enemy's car lol " smooth as glass" if glass has hell of ripples then yes he nailed it haha. i dont normally comment on videos but this was almost unreal lol.
I read the comments before I watched the video and I thought people were being a tad bit hard on you. Now that I've watched the video.... Naaaaaa....... I would be pissed if you did this to my hood.
Man you created so much extra work for yourself you could of even masked of the area where your applying fibreglass etc anyway it's all about learning I've seen on youtube different ways even using reofill to attach scoop to bonnet then feather out with bodyfiller also wouldn't this cause air pockets between the scoop and where you have applied fibreglass sheets and wouldn't it eventually crack
first i'd rather bolt it on, it looks nicer than any effort to mold it in. then ,seriously who glues two parts together like they are sticking tape over the edges? you need to use glue BETWEEN surfaces last: this may appear to look good in the end.. but the quality is Zero , 1 decent pothole and your solid rock layer on the hood might break.. and it will over time.
"And then" you go on your 1st ride and watch the scoop fly off the hood. You could have elimited 5 unnecessary steps. Had you cut the hood and out the scoop on from the inside. So it doesn't crack and fly off. Not to mention, all of that filler that has absolutely no tooth and bite, because you overlapped on clear coat and paint.
Yeah sorry for my comment mate. If the scoop is bolted or moulded into the bonnet, sand the bonnet and scoop and apply a small bead of urethane the stuff that holds screens in cars now, its made by sikaflex or bostik, both are good. Sand way past where you are going to use filler or bondo as you may call it,when your filling in the curved sections use a bit of plastic and bend it into a u shape as you apply filler, saves a lot of sanding. If you have many pinholes use a quick set knife on putty as we call it in oz. when all is good prime it with a high fill primer. Rub it back with a block and 600 then 800 and then apply your top coat.10 out of 10 for having a go. I have been doing this for 45 years and it looks easy to you watching me,but hey have a go. All the best from Australia...
Wow, your body work makes me feel allot better about mine! Thanks
Lmfaooo 🤣🤣🤣🤣👍
The "customer"... wanted you to fill the body lines... with Bondo... on the hood... that gets hot... then cold... and slammed... I'd love to see a recent picture of that job.
The songs playing in the radio take me back in time, feel like 8th grade again.
Holy Christ the songs on the radio are giving insane throwback vibes
you gotta love the guy's taste in radio music :) and the hood looks great.
sounds like 70s Kungfu movie narration, which is awesome! Thumbs up!
ForcedFalcon 100% correct
Agree
Oh wait I know he left most of the clear coat a a release agent because that's exactly what will happen when the bondo comes off
Title should be "How to ruin a perfectly good hood"
Was this a parody video??? That old man absolutely reeked of shame and disgust of whats being commited in the body shop LoL 😂😂
lol, i purchased the exact Westin large hood scoop for $60 at Summit Racing in Nevada... all i did was peel and stick it on, polish it up with Meguiar Final Destination and it was ready in under an hour and gorgeous... i could see doing all this work if the hood scoop was functional... its just an Ornament decoration... but to each his own... he did a good job at what he wanted to do... anyways... the beat goes on........even though he forgot to put mesh in the scoop intake...
Holy shit .... just added 800 lbs to the front of this truck !!
u have opp playing in the back. that deserves a sub!
WOW!!! I learned something from this video DON'T take any of my vehicles anywhere near your shop. I lost count trying to keep up with the mistakes that were made from the very beginning. Dont know how many brain cells died watching this
This gave me a good idea for my 96 cavalier, but I plan on sanding the entire hood right down
OMG! This whole time i have been using bubble gum to mold on stuff!! Great Video!
people lie on their titles just to get a view ....the title is how to mold a scoop not how to improve looks but yeah its great stuff i finally see ....good video....
Not bad at all, looks like some folks are clueless on how to do this kind of work.99 percent of body shops do it this way.
i feel dumber now that i have watched this
Straight forward man. Loved it
this was the funniest thing ive seen in a while.
Looks grrat, I just bought one for my Dodge Ram. Can't wait to see how it comes out of the body shop. 😍
Came out actually reall really good . Good job
the last time I smoothed in a crack with my fingers I got a slap!
one of the best hack jobs I ever saw
Had to watch to the end...kinda like the Not seen on TV vid back in the day.
It looked ok in the end but thats a ton of filler thats gonna shrink and my guess crack fairly soon.... Plus its non functioning properly so there's that.... This is definitely not a how to video LoL 😂😂😂😂 🎉🎉🎉
i like this video, i wish that ur shop was close to my house so u can put one on my tacoma. i love ur work.
That looks fantastic!!!
looks ready good ! you know what your doing
Why would you do all that work and NOT make the scoop functional??? FAILED!!
No shit 😂😂😂😂😂
you never pt any bonding agent on a painted surface, the hood should have been bare metal and the adhesive would be placed between the scoop and hood bult up with fiberglass and sanded and refilled with fiberglass and then duraglass and very little filler, and a hood still might not last a very long time because of flex ,heat and slamming the hood
With the time and labor to mount this scoop, I feel it would be more cost effective to buy a cowl hood.
question at @1.00 ....why did u not put glue under the scoop? just along the sides?
Damnnnn that's dope as hell! A fake scoop made into the hood
Just gave Forced Falcon a thumbs up on that
I’m so confused, he molded a hood scoop that was already installed on the hood. Lol. What is happening?
I just found this, wow....I don't know what to do, laugh or giggle like the other 33448765278 people that has seen this? I'm flying 30tho feet in the air on my home and can't stop laughing lol. What you have seen, can not be unseen.
Final product looks nice.
lol you changed a dodge hood to a wrx..congratz!lol (dont get me wrong i love my wrx) i actually flinched when you started sanding on the snazzy newish hood ha. nice finished work tho and good video flow for tutorial
GREAT VIDEO! one of the best tutorials ive seen on here in a long time
HI, just wondering, do you think by opening and shutting the hood , will the bondo that you used to smooth out the hoof\d will ever crack ??
You should rename the vid to - How NOT to mold a hoodscoop.
LMFAO! Shit job!
Fucking ROUGH AS GUTS!!! LMAO
No doubt!
Sax is .massasszges to, but
the plastic to metal bonding glue, which exact one did you use? im doing similar but with a spoiler
Bad assss,,,,, people just hate
its a lot easier than this dude you made a lot of work for yourself
That’s some nice girlie dance tunes in the background.
i like how you got right into it,,,
I think it came out lookin fuckin nice
End result was a good looking scoop, why did you go through all that trouble if it was not going to be functional? Good job regardless,I would of just made it fuctional, helps dissapate all that engine heat...good video!!!
elio guetzbusy lol this comment
"Dissapate all that engine heat"
How many hours work was that. ? Seems like way too much glass and enough bondo to sink a battleship.. But, it looks good in the rain..
at first i was like wtf but it actually turned out great... i would have cut an opening in the scoop to give the look of a functioning scoop
10 years ago lol working on a blazer that someone finished halfway and didn’t sand. Got my work cut out for me
i quess thats one way to do it...? Hows it holding up though?
looks nice.
thanks, CVNT
i would say a few words but i wont. i think alot of you had already said it. i live in hawaii and believe it or not you may think we are dumb in body work but this would be a waste of time for me to do on my truck. im no out there for only looks. im out there for looks and the performance, if i am going to spend that much money for paint, bondo, glue, resin, and fiberglass not to mention the time and effort, yea i would make it work for what it is made for...PERFORMANCE.
I'm no car person, like at all, but that entire Body Filler segment made me cringe.
I can't tell if this is a joke or not.
hey man I really like your hood project.can you please tell me where to get the plastic to metal bonding agent
oh my lord. you're fired.
great job fellas!!
although there are others that do it other ways ,but cant see why they get so pissy about it ,a good job well done, have seen allot worse ..
cheers

Cuz he was too lazy to take off the scoop
First time you slam the hood...crumble
Specially the 1 1/2 " thick bondo he "Smoothed the hood indentions" with is going to fall out all at once !!
i wouldnt let this guy wash my car, much less do a hood scoop......might have just as well made the entire scoop out of bondo and thrown it at the hood from 12 feet away
nice work.
Did the scoop finally come flying off?
oh my gosh I just seen you drop the metal lid onto the bonnet and my jaw dropped. You obviously dont do this for a living.
Title should be: "How to mold a hoodscoop in 1978"
Great job
nice work
that filler looks kinda thick filling the body lines, why not use duraglass first?
Please tell me this video is a joke? i wouldnt do this "quality" of work to my worst enemy's car lol " smooth as glass" if glass has hell of ripples then yes he nailed it haha. i dont normally comment on videos but this was almost unreal lol.
I laughed so hard 😊
Why didnt you just use the plastic to metal bolding an filler..?? I think it came out alright.. I noticed at the end u sprayed water on the hood lol
This supposed to be comedy?
LOL !!! Dude your fired,,,,,and no,, I ain't payin
very nice.
why did u fill in the vent?
this guy is sick
Says use metle to plastic bonding agent but puts it on paint.....tell me again how this is going to stay together
looks wavey
I read the comments before I watched the video and I thought people were being a tad bit hard on you. Now that I've watched the video.... Naaaaaa....... I would be pissed if you did this to my hood.
but does it work? no! PRICELESS!!!!
I swear one day in the winter the guys going to slam his hood and those filled body lines are going to pop out....
Man you created so much extra work for yourself you could of even masked of the area where your applying fibreglass etc anyway it's all about learning I've seen on youtube different ways even using reofill to attach scoop to bonnet then feather out with bodyfiller also wouldn't this cause air pockets between the scoop and where you have applied fibreglass sheets and wouldn't it eventually crack
nice wooork how long didi it take
Let the sanding begin!!!
what planet are we on I think I was morphed off to another planet while watching that what a mess lol
first i'd rather bolt it on, it looks nicer than any effort to mold it in.
then ,seriously who glues two parts together like they are sticking tape over the edges? you need to use glue BETWEEN surfaces
last: this may appear to look good in the end.. but the quality is Zero , 1 decent pothole and your solid rock layer on the hood might break.. and it will over time.
This part uses a double sided tape under the part, the gleu was just a reinforcement.
What is the plastic to metal bonding agent that was used? and do you know where I can get it?
watching this guy work is depressing LOL
your kinda right but...
MAN ITS HIS PROJECT !
I DONT THINK SO!METAL AND FB EXPAND AT DIFFERENT RATES.YOU WILL SEE A BOND LINE IN THE PAINT!
thus the plastic to metal bonding agent
cole meyer ?
noe blanco what?
cooooooool bro
How long did this take?
"And then" you go on your 1st ride and watch the scoop fly off the hood.
You could have elimited 5 unnecessary steps. Had you cut the hood and out the scoop on from the inside. So it doesn't crack and fly off. Not to mention, all of that filler that has absolutely no tooth and bite, because you overlapped on clear coat and paint.
That scoop won't fly off at all. It has 6 bolts underneath with lock washers and nuts. I have the same on my older charger.
looks good but what about the quality
Sorry but fiberglass will not stick to metal. Its for corvette's and boats. Not to worry if you stand by your work, you will be able to do it again.
Wrong!
Can u comment all the stuff so I can purchase them to do it
I love the 2012 jams
You wouldnt last 5 minutes in my shop
Lml, you should describe the actual process for this man, like that he can learn the proper way.
Jeffrey Baker he would not even be allowed on my shops property
its so wavevy that u can surf on it lol
