Yep. The Reapers built it and the mass relays, the purpose being to predictably guide sentient species down paths of technological progression that they desired. Also, with the Citadel being the hub of the relay network, it is logically the best place to put the capital of a galactic government, so the Reapers always know where the head is to cut off. The Reapers have been so successful for so long because they are playing a game they have extensively rigged in their favor.
I think that the gaould should be on this underrated list. In the stargate universe I feel that they are way underrated . They have this huge build up as system lords, and this long and historical backgrounds and just don’t live up to it all.
I’d say the Trill from Star Trek are seriously underrated and undervalued for some of the same reasons as the Asari are underrated. Their symbiotes carry the knowledge and personalities of previous all hosts from when they were “joined” until death. So in a way they had a form of longevity even if the current host passed away. The accumulated knowledge and experience allows new hosts to carry on the work or relationships from previous hosts (i.e. STNG “The Host”, STDS9 “Emissary: Part 1”, STDS9 “Image in the Sand”) preventing accidents from stopping important missions or from people losing Trills they developed friendships with due to death. They are also one of the few species in Star Trek to not join the Federation right away, but instead took their time to learn about the federation and in the mean time developed their own technology for warp speed before joining.
A thing about the Asari that is interesting is they might not look like they do in the game. A "blink and you miss it" moment between 3 species in the game implies they might look similar to whatever race is viewing them. Which is why everyone considers them attractive even if you dislike humans.

Just in general, everyone goes on about the big strong Aliens, but in a prolific setting like Star Wars or Star Trek, a small alien species would be very formidable. The big strong scary alien is going to take up more space ect on ships and vehicles - can you imagine Chewbacca flying a snub fighter? But imagine a species only a foot tall, they would need a lot less volume and mass of a given ship dedicated to the crew … making their ships (and tanks and battle walkers) far more powerful pound for pound. And how do you even board or hijack a ship that you can't squeeze into the main corridors on? As for infantry combat (assuming it's still a thing, which both these IP's do), there's a disadvantage to being half again as big as a Human - you're a easy target. Assuming powerful weapons _without recoil,_ a zippy little critter with a gun that you can't get a bead on and can snipe you may be very scary. Imagine a cat with a phaser… Yes a big alien can carry a big gun, but a group of small aliens can pilot a combat vehicle smaller than the big alien, but with armour and guided weapons. So in sci-fi small aliens are in general underrated because we still think in terms of lugging around gear by hand and loading ordinance and pulling levers using our body strength as well. The chipmunks could be the deadliest warriors, with tools scaled to them.
I'll have to look it up or reread the books, but in the Star Wars EU (I still refuse to call it Legends) series Rogue Squadron, they eventually created a support squadron more suited for ground operations rather than piloting - though they were still good pilots. This was named Wraith Squadron. As I recall, one of members of Wraith Squadron was...an Ewok. The Ewok did need extensions so that it could look out its canopy while still reaching all of the controls, but it was a tiny alien could and did fly starfighters not meant for it. Granted, this Ewok was the only one in the squadron, just as there was also a Gammorean that had been genetically and cyberneticly modified for significantly increased intelligence.
@@DavidRichardson153 The ewok wasn't real. It was a stuffed animal that was tied to the chest plate of the pilot wearing a pitch black flight suit in case someone flew close enough to see into the cockpit of the stolen tie fighter they were using while pretending to be pirates.

All while being seen as vermin by the other races. Outside of their missions and tali, they never really had a presense in-game. Without it being stated, you would never know the geth were their creations and not completely separate.
What about the Yuuzhan Vong from Star Wars? They were able to make warships out of organic materials, and had extremely powerful gravity manipulating weapons called dovin basals that could destroy planets.

Small detail missed out with Groot's race is that, well, the one we know is... small. As in, tiny compared to most of his race. Most of his race can only move across the cosmos with their own ships as others are to small.
you left out the aliens of stargate! like the goald, the wraith, asgard, ori, and replicators to name a few! also the aliens in the babylon-5 universe as well as the cybermen and cylons !!!
The Asari also have a mental camouflage. They look similar to whatever humanoid species is viewing them. This makes other species more likely to feel at ease with them as the Asari look similar to their own species. This also makes the Asari more likely to be attractive as a mate. Warning: rambling. Of course this only works in sci-fi, because the obvious way around this is to look at a picture or video recording of them. Unless the psychic imprint is left on the person permanently and their brain makes them always see a manipulated version of the Asari. But then the fix would be to have someone that never was in contact with an Asari look at a picture of them to see what their true appearance is. But then what if the Asari mind camouflage is infectious, and anyone that had contact with an Asari will cause anyone else they come in contact with to always see the manipulated version of the Asari. But then the fix would be to find an isolated individual. But then if this individual was able to recreate the appearance of the Asari, would the infected people's brains still just see the manipulated version of the Asari? Only the isolated will ever know the truth.
Blake's 7; The Aliens that live in 61 Cygni, also known as the Darkling Zone - because _no ship has ever returned from it_ until… A 700 year old early Human spacecraft drifts out of there and is recovered. During a autopsy one of the crew comes back to life (due to cybernetic implants) and attacks the doctor, causing quarantine to be broken. This is bad because a very infectious virus that kills any Human that has ever been in space is released. It's an attempt by the xenophobic Aliens to confine Humans to being a planet bound species. It's very effective and outpost base is lost, and only a rapid quarantine warning saves Humanity from the virus begin spread by a approaching ship. So a very underrated but deadly alien species that no one is going to mess with, from the episode _Killer._ [as a side note: damn I'm getting old].
I can think of at least ten species in Mass Effect at any given moment that are more underrated than the Asari. Humans and maybe the Quarians aside, Asari are probably the most prominent species in the ME series, and perhaps a little overrated when it comes to overall appreciation.
At the top of this list should be, "The Alien," from the film Dark Star, (John Carpenter's greatest masterpiece,) probably the most underrated alien of them all; although not without bloody good reason, it's completely crap.
Humans for example might look at say a ten year plan, an assari would look at say a thousand years plan for say a trade agreement or an alliance if not anything else since unlike humans who have considerably shorter lifespans we have to look at both the short term results of a plan which may take at best ten years or less, for an assari ten years to them is equivalent to ten days and if you consider say what would have happened is scientists such as Albert Einstein who never died of old age or your grand parents from WW2 if not the American civil war, how far would humanity get to

you left out the aliens of stargate! like the goald, the wraith, asgard, ori, and replicators to name a few! also the aliens in the babylon-5 universe as well as the cybermen and cylons !!!
Jackals from Halo,
You don't ever survive a Jackal sniper once they spot you!
The Chozo from the Metroid series.
goodness my dude but I think you miss one,
the chimera for resistance.
Understandably, the Xeelee and the Photino Birds should not be allowed in this type of list.
From Rendezvous With Rama: Ramans
Blake's 7; The Aliens that live in 61 Cygni, also known as the Darkling Zone - because _no ship has ever returned from it_ until…
A 700 year old early Human spacecraft drifts out of there and is recovered.
So a very underrated but deadly alien species that no one is going to mess with, from the episode _Killer._
[as a side note: damn I'm getting old].
The kam-alien look like Roswell aliens with if the Roswell are the long extinct Mammal version of there planet?
Yeah, underrated
All Xenos rate under Humans
bio raptors are terrifying
Chozo from the Metroid series.
And the space pirates from the same series.
Asari is just another version of space elf.
The Utai and Pauans from star wars.
Those things from halo definitely look like a flood but the experiment went right
Is this a list of things to be purged?
I can think of at least ten species in Mass Effect at any given moment that are more underrated than the Asari.
Humans and maybe the Quarians aside, Asari are probably the most prominent species in the ME series, and perhaps a little overrated when it comes to overall appreciation.
Somewhere out in another planet an alien is making a top ten most overrated aliens video and probably has humans on it lol
how about bionicle?
Easy way to kill bio raptors. 1st step Sit still .2nd step use sound moderators on your rifles and 3rd step finally Don’t forget your NVG’s!
Groot is one of Yggdrasil the world tree

The only thing you need to know about the Xeno is where to shoot or stab.

No Minotaur from StarCraft 2? :(
Lol jk, but seriously though: he was great, XD
Raptor means bird of prey...didn't really need to say "flying raptors" 😆 flying tends to be a trait in most
The magog from Andromeda.
At the top of this list should be, "The Alien," from the film Dark Star, (John Carpenter's greatest masterpiece,) probably the most underrated alien of them all; although not without bloody good reason, it's completely crap.
Trinston was here..
The promethians did not build the citadel... 40K has engineer equivalent... seriously? Anyone check this?
Did your 23 and me show that you 4th cousin is a dolphin?
Humans for example might look at say a ten year plan, an assari would look at say a thousand years plan for say a trade agreement or an alliance if not anything else since unlike humans who have considerably shorter lifespans we have to look at both the short term results of a plan which may take at best ten years or less, for an assari ten years to them is equivalent to ten days and if you consider say what would have happened is scientists such as Albert Einstein who never died of old age or your grand parents from WW2 if not the American civil war, how far would humanity get to
SUFFER NOT THE XENOS TO LIVE!!!
The asari are the vulcans of the Mass effect universe look at tng sarek !
I was thinking of another Star Trek species: the Xindi aquatics.
