@@NeptunetheChameleon I have a veiled chameleon and we are confident he is male. There of been times where he went a couple of days without food because we bot like 60 crickets and they all died. Hmm... It's hard to really comment on it with out knowing what he looks like. Would you be able to DM me a pic of him on Instagram @neptunethechameleon?
I like to use Reptivite without D3. It’s available on Amazon. Be sure to check out my video about supplements to learn more about what to use and how often.
I’ve got both a male and female chameleon wild caught…right now they are on my screen porch/pool area which is fairly large. I have built them an environment in the corner where they seem to like it and there is a grass patch. I have also released quite a few crickets in the area but other than that I don’t know how else to feed them as they seem to still be fairly stressed out still. There is always an abundance of bugs in the enclosure but idk if they have been eating. I’m in the process of getting the large corner screened in by itself but for now need a solution….help? Lol
I am quite confused about supplementation. Regarding the calcium, some people told me 2-3 times a week is good, others said basically everyday. Also someone told me that calcium with D3 should not really be used because the modern UVB lamps are good enough that the chameleon can make its own D3 quite well, so not using D3 would be safe. What do you think about this? (the multivitamin twice a month part seems to be agreed upon quite often)

Then you probably have a T8. That’s older technology and doesn’t penetrate as far as the T5s do. You’ll probably have to buy your T5 online since most stores don’t carry it 👍
I’ve been feeding my chameleon mealworms for almost 6 days, but don’t have any other bugs at the moment( I have crickets and roaches). My chameleon is about 3 weeks old, is it okay for him to eat big bugs?
No it is not okay to feed them big bugs. The bugs should not be any bigger than the width between their eyes. Try buying smaller bugs online. This is where I buy from: dubiaroaches.com/?smile_referral_code=2et4o8yY&st_intent=st%3Areferrals%3Acustomer-offers%3A2et4o8yY&

Okay so I have a few videos that answer the questions you have. 1. Superworms are fine as long as they're not wider than the space between her eyes. So be sure to order the x-small size. Here is a video on what bugs to feed: th-cam.com/video/E5P1OJV-tYUh/w-d-xo.htmlttps://th-cam.com/video/9BAs2Os1XN8/w-d-xo.html and one on how much to feed: th-cam.com/video/E5P1OJV-tYU/w-d-xo.html 2. Watch this to know how to tell if your chameleon is staying hydrated: th-cam.com/video/LmUqpGQhmig/w-d-xo.html 3. Since you have a female, you'll need to set up a laying bin. Hey which chameleon do you recomend for begginners? I have experience with bearded dragon and crested geckos. And want to venture out tp chameleons. Where should i start?
Great question! I'm planning on making a video about this, but I'd say either a veiled or panther chameleon since there is so much information available about both of those species. Hello I love your videos !! I have a female veiled chameleon -Ms. Rango, and I believe she is around 3 months. When will she be laying the infertile eggs ? And what are some things I can use so she can feel comfortable to lay them ? Also is it just a one time thing or ? Thanks!!🦎
Hi :) She sounds like a cutie! Chameleons can start to lay eggs as soon as 8 months give or take. Privacy is the biggest thing that will help a female lay he eggs along with a properly set up laying bin. Female chameleons will lay infertile eggs throughout her entire life but by lowering their enclosure temperatures and decreasing the amount of food fed, we can make them have lower clutch sizes or in some cases not lay eggs at all (although this is difficult to achieve). I don't have any videos currently on egg laying, but this is a good resource to get you started: www.chameleonforums.com/blogs/egg-laying-and-the-laying-bin.345/
devon hernandez That’s way too high for a female chameleon. Should be closer to low 80s. Here’s my video about heat for chameleons: th-cam.com/video/7govEIUlM24/w-d-xo.html
Another thing I've always struggled with is the right basking light bulb. I've adopted a panther chameleon and have done a lot of research because the original owner did everything wrong! I am taking him to the vet soon. However I'm wondering why his colors aren't as bright as other chameleons. His red and greens are a lot darker or look "faded."
Here is my video about heat that should answer your questions about basking light bulbs: th-cam.com/video/7govEIUlM24/w-d-xo.html As far as your chameleon's colors go, each chameleon is different when it comes to their colors. Darker colors could be just the way they are, stress colors, pre-shed colors, or them trying to absorb heat.
I know its been 2 days but you said in you supplements video you will be going over 4 types of supplements but you only went over 3 what is the 4th if there is one?
T8s are older tech and don’t penetrate as far into a chameleon enclosure as a T5. Mercury vapor bulbs used to be used way back in the day but are also no longer recommended. T5s are the way to go 👍
Thank you so much for making this video! Not many people talk about the proper supplements in chameleon care videos so im glad i stumbled upon this one. I plan on getting a veiled chameleon very soon so I'll be sure to use your supplement instructions :) ᘛ⁐̤ᕐᐷ
Our rainbow jackson died last weekend from a respitory infection and it was painful to watch. He threw up three times before taking his last breath so I am guessing it was bacteria that caused the infection. What I learned later was that my dubia roaches were the most likely cause: I kept my roaches in a small plastic container with their fruits, vegetables and water crystals. After a while that food started to ferment and caused too much moisture in the container. I should have realized it when our chameleon stopped eating the roaches but I didnt know about keeping the roaches dry until I recently watched a video about breeding dubias. Anyway, this is a tip I would pass on to new owners, if you are gut loading dubias, you need to keep them dry and not leave the fermented produce in there. Respitory infections are very hard to recover from.
Thank you for sharing, and I'm so sorry to hear about your chameleon :( Hopefully your comment can help people know this is something they need to be aware of.
@@NeptunetheChameleon What I also learned was that if/when your chameleon has a respitory infection, you are screwed if it happens on a weekend and if you dont live near an exotic vet. Our chameleon started breathing heavy on the 4th of July, not only was there not a vet open but the nearest one that treated reptiles was 2 hours away. From all I read online, they need an antibiotic dosage that must be prescribed by a doctor. It died the next day.
Is it while she’s under her basking spot? She could be thermoregulating. What kind of cham is she, how old is she, and what are the basking temperatures?
Yes it is when she is under the basking spot and I’m calling the place tomorrow to find out more about her so far I know she’s a girl vield chameleon about 4 to 5 months old
I found one in the woods by my place. Optimistically I'd like to believe he escaped somewhere but realistically it's a favorite spot for people to dump unwanted pets. Lucky I found the little guy or he would have been dead pretty quickly. So yeah, needing to do quick research to at least tide him over until payday. Lucky I have other reptiles so I have something to feed him.
I have gotten a veiled chameleon I got a heat lamp and a uvb light that u have , but today after I feed him then see if he wants to craw on me slowly he hissed at me and open his mouth. I feel really sad cuz I don’t wanna stress him or anything he’s 4 and a half months . He gets kinda dark sometimes I just don’t understand if there’s something wrong I feel so bad if something is wrong and I don’t know it.
Sounds like you just need to give him some space. Him hissing and opening is mouth is him telling you he is scared. Darker colors can also be a sign of stress. I suggest you watch my video about defensive chameleon behaviors: th-cam.com/video/xqlJS4OYoG4/w-d-xo.html

Also do u know what real plants are the best plants for chameleon and for it to get wet all the time w/o the plant dying
I understand that this stuff is important for their well-being, but I just keep thinking, how do these guys survive out in the wild. Wild chameleons don’t take supplements.
Great question. Wild chameleons are exposed to natural UVB -- the sun. But in captivity we use artificial UVB, so we have to help fill in some gaps with supplements. That's why we use D3. We use plain calcium because the bugs available to use in the pet trade have a higher phosphorus to calcium ration. But bugs chams would eat in the wild, are higher in calcium so they don't need to be dusted to help the ratio imbalance. I'd suggest checking out my video about supplements where I talk about this a bit more: th-cam.com/video/nLONCW9tSPA/w-d-xo.html as well as this resource: chameleonacademy.com/basics-chameleon-nutrition/
I agree that a T5HO, when used correctly, can eliminate the need for vitamin D3. But I'm trying to take the audience of this video into consideration -- which is most likely someone using a CFL on their cham with incorrect distances. If that's the case, then they would need to supplement their cham's diet with D3. Someone who is confident in their husbandry care will either not be the one watching this video, or from their own research and knowledge, already be familiar the intricate balance between supplements and UVB and can make their own judgement call on what lights and supplements to use.

You could feed dubia nymphs, extra small superworms, BSFL, flies, etc. :)
Always look forward to your videos! Really like your cage background, does it help with the over spray?
Aw thanks :) Yes it does!
Hello Can i use repashy calcium plus for my veiled chameleon everyday uvb light i have is the T5-HO.
I’m not super familiar with the Repashy supplement line since I don’t use it myself. But other keepers will use Repashy Calcium Plus LoD daily.
@@NeptunetheChameleon thank you so repashy calcium plus loD i don't need to use anything else is all in one i get confused with the others 3 supplements.
So only use the multivitamin 1 day a week with the d3 for a veiled?
1 day a week, every other week. Here is my video about supplements that goes into more detail: th-cam.com/video/nLONCW9tSPA/w-d-xo.html
I can't wait to get my little buddy! I'm hoping to get him this Friday from FLChams. Do you have any other reputable breeders you could recommend?
Your channel is incredibly encouraging!! All of my (obsessive) research is lining up perfectly with yours and Chameleon Academy's recommendations. Chameleon forums and the r/Chameleons and r/ChameleonsFAQ subreddits are also great resources that all match your experienced husbandry practices. I feel well prepared and INCREDIBLY EXCITED!!
Thanks for your dedication to educating us on how to properly care for our chameleon buddies! ❤

What is your dusting schedule for vitamins, calcium with d3 and without d3?
I talk about that in this video: th-cam.com/video/nLONCW9tSPA/w-d-xo.html
@@NeptunetheChameleon thank you so much. Are chameleons really harder to take care of than bearded dragons and crested geckos? Im used to dusting for my beardie and my crestie gets misted atleast twice a day.
Darius Hayter I think chameleons are harder to set up correctly. But the day to day maintenance is similar to other lizards.
Hi :) what is the difference between the t8 light and the t5 light? I can't find the t5 light anywhere!
The T8 is older tech and less powerful than the T5. This will help go into more detail: chameleonacademy.com/basics-uvb-for-chameleons/
Check out Amazon, Reptile Basics Inc, LLL Reptiles, Pangea, Josh’s Frogs, Light Your Reptile’s, etc. for a T5 bulb.

I have a question. Do you know why my Chamaeleon isn’t growing. He’s almost a year old and isn’t very big at all like he barely grewWe have struggled with his diet a bit but I don’t know if that can cause it do you have an idea of why he is not growing
What kind of chameleon do you have? Are you confident they are a male?
@@NeptunetheChameleon I have a veiled chameleon and we are confident he is male. There of been times where he went a couple of days without food because we bot like 60 crickets and they all died. I am worried that it is our fault for not being able to get crickets right away again because of our busy schedules and pay days :( I love him so much but he has only shedded twice and we have no clue as to why..
Hmm... It's hard to really comment on it with out knowing what he looks like. Would you be able to DM me a pic of him on Instagram @neptunethechameleon?
Does anyone have a good link for a multivitamin for a Jackson’s chameleon
Lol
I really want a chameleon but where moving next year should I wait or can i ship it when we are moving
I’d wait until you move. That’s what I ended up doing too. Moving can be stressful for the chameleon.
How do you protect your walls from water damage when spraying the cages?
I strategically place my nozzles, cover the sides in shower curtain, and use a hybrid enclosure with solid sides.

(the multivitamin twice a month part seems to be agreed upon quite often)

i have the same brand UVB 5.0 but it doesn’t say T5 HO😥

Neptune the Chameleon I think it might be because she doesn’t do it to often the temperature stays about high 80s low 90s

Here is my video about heat that should answer your questions about basking light bulbs: th-cam.com/video/7govEIUlM24/w-d-xo.html
As far as your chameleon's colors go, each chameleon is different when it comes to their colors. Darker colors could be just the way they are, stress colors, pre-shed colors, or them trying to absorb heat.
Can you please make a guide for graceful chameleons please😁
I can’t use a uvb light lamp?
The only UVB bulb that is recommended for a chameleon is a T5 HO linear UVB.
Its good to know that i have the right stuff you are very helpful 😊

I know its been 2 days but you said in you supplements video you will be going over 4 types of supplements but you only went over 3 what is the 4th if there is one?
Vitamin A is the 4th, but it isn’t a powdered supplement. It’s something you give to your chameleon via proper gutloading.

You said t5 but what about a t8 uvb,, also how about a mercury vapor
T8s are older tech and don’t penetrate as far into a chameleon enclosure as a T5. Mercury vapor bulbs used to be used way back in the day but are also no longer recommended. T5s are the way to go 👍
yeah so true

Wait if I don’t use a ho 5.0 long light my chameleon will die?
Very likely your chameleon will develop Metabolic Bone Disease if not using the proper UVB and supplements which is fatal if not corrected.

@@NeptunetheChameleon wow thanks a bunch!!!
My chameleon sometimes just sits with her Mouth open and I can’t figure out y

Hi 🦎
Hello 😊
what are the best chameleon community's?
Not tryna be that guy... but panthers do not need calcium with d3! The t5ho supplies the d3! 🙂
