Jared. You need to go to the Hype Cave. It's one screen south of the bomb shop (Lank's house in the dark world). It has several chests and has a pretty high chance of having a progression item

Usually when you get to the dark world you have a more powerful sword, more hearts and usually by the time you get to this dungeon, more powerful armor. The randomizer decided that Jerd would be suffering for a while
He also isn't trapped in the dark world like he keeps crying about. If you don't have the mirror you can save/quit out and be back in the light world. Almost every question Jared has been moaning about in this LP is in the info for the randomizer if he'd just bother to read how it worked! Also this bit of him whining and acting pitiful is wearing thin, as well as him bitching about missiles. Even people who race this game end up with around a hundred and he admitted he hasn't played SM for years so he's going to need every damn missile he can get probably.

As a LttPr speedrunner, it was STRESSING ME OUT when I thought he was going to miss that one chest in Thieves Town. Glad he died and got it, because missing the staff in here would have caused ENTIRE EPISODES of frustration later.

I love this series! It’s such a cool twist on normal randomizers. I hope sometime he tries it with a hardcore 1 life only mode to add even more tension!
I've had that happen to me before with those little green lizard things on the original US release of the game. I had more health at the time so it didn't kill me, but since then I've always attacked first.
Additionally, it's nice to see someone playing this who isn't an expert. I do commentary for the SpeedGaming collective's SMZ3 community races fairly often, and pretty much everyone they get for their restreams are amazing at this.
Loving this series. And just a tip, Jared: If you save and quit in the dark world - even without the mirror - you'll start at Link's house in the light world. I'm pretty certain that's the case.
It is, up until you defeat Aghanim. Only then will you start in the Dark World if you S/Q in the Dark World. Okay, technically that's wrong. If you S/Q in the Dark World w/o defeating Aghanim you get to choose one of the 3 locations for your game start, the same as if you S/Q in the Light World
@@mskain4896 Actually, what you said is true until you both defeat Aghanim *AND* get the Mirror. If you've done one or the other, but not both, the Save & Quit menu will always send you back to the Light World.
Ah. You really are suffering with this run, Jared! I already know that you record these in bulk, but as someone that has speedran both Zelda and SM before, you should plan you route according to what you have at hand. There's a _ton_ of places you could easily -risk your life on- search and comb for new items. Just don't give up! Also, it'd be a better idea for the next time to have annotations of the most common places to look before tackling the castles/bosses of the games, so that you really have everything you could have after planning your route, before committing to the bosses themselves. Either way, _don't lose hope Jerd! You never know; next item could be _*_on the other side of a wall!_*
Oh, dear. Having done a bunch of randomizer runs (including inverted ones where you start in the Dark World), I feel really bad for Jared for venturing into the Thieves' Town dungeon so woefully under-equipped. But it does have a lot of treasure chests, so even if he doesn't challenge Blind, odds are fairly good there's something useful in there.
I think I'm going to post and edit this list each upload to try and keep track of item locations that are missed. Locations will be of areas that Jared has been to but skipped for one reason or another. So I won't list locations he hasn't been to somewhat limit spoilers. mushroom on death mountain -2 items in kakariko village- 1 item in the seaside cave(mini-moldorm cave)*talk to guy maaany items in Brinstar(I count 10) 4 items in Crateria(7 if you add the 3 from the gauntlet that Jared has already seen) -1 chest in the first area of Thieves Town Dungeon.-

Hi, Miss Editor! Yup, Link gets turned into a bunny in this game. Sadly completely defenseless when transformed (unless you're playing the "Bunny Link to the Past" romhack), typically occurs just by entering the Dark World without the Moon Pearl on hand. But the sparkles in this dungeon do it, too.
You've got virtually full access to the Dark World now ProJared (except the bottom left). You can go south of town and hug the right side when jumping down the ledges for example to bust out of town! So you can access a very gnarly cave. Dark Palace and the tree dude... and shovel minigame
if you save after buying the shield, the first shield you find from randomizer will be level 2 instead. also, youre still missing a chest in the upper left part of the first floor of the dungeon

These videos are always amazing to watch and feel your frustration along with you, I hope you keep these videos up and can't wait for this to become hour long videos of just trying to find a specific item like the boots.
Started doing my own run of this, didn't have a sword for the longest time; ended up finding it in Brinstar where a power bomb upgrade usually is behind a yellow door, grapple point, and wave beam door (all of which I found relatively early on). Shortly after found a shield and a bow (both also in Brinstar), did the Eastern Palace where my reward for killing Armos was the Master Sword, and then an hour or two later found both the tempered sword AND the golden sword in the Wrecked Ship pretty much right next to each other. So now I'm planning to go do only my second Zelda dungeon with the most powerful sword in the game... Basically, my luck has been very different from Jared's, is my point. XD
There are free trackers for AlttP Rando that tell you when you have access to areas and how many Items are available that is suuuper helpful when you are getting started. Might be helpful!

Jared! You can attack with the sword in doorways in this game. This ain't no Zelda 1, son. Also, you can always leave the Dark World with a Select - save - quit. That always brings you back to the light world. You only start on the pyramid once it's open.
Regarding the Lumberjacks: They only make progress on that tree once you've defeated Agahnim. Also of note, once you've done that the overworld levels up in difficulty in terms of enemies, so keep that in mind. You can also check to see what the item in that cave is by going as far north as possible in that area and checking in the cave. You can see what's on the ledge before committing to killing Agahnim. If you don't have to kill Agahnim to get east dark world access (which you don't need to in this seed), then that location is the only reason you would need to, except for a very rare fringe case where the hammer is in the pyramid (which is also not the case here).
The flag for the lumberjacks' tree opening up is defeating Aganihm in Hyrule Castle. So no, you can't get that one yet. You can, however, check the cave behind their house and see what the item is, because it's the only item that defeating Aganihm opens up for you, and if it's something useless you can just skip that entire dungeon.
Me: " _Jared's going to die in the next room. I am certain of it. He always complains about this dungeon, and he always dies here._ " - 30 seconds later, death noise - Me: - _cackles maniacally_ -
While I think Jared was peeved about dying in Thieves' Town, it actually payed dividends for him, because otherwise he would have forgotten the chest that had the Cane of Somaria in it. Remember, when you feel like things aren't going your way and you don't know why, and you need something to pick you up when all seems lost, well maybe, just maybe, *IT'S GOTTA BE CANE!!* I had to do that for all y'all PhantomRyu fans out there. :3
There are some areas that my interest you: -The right side of death mountain has a good (10 i think) items you can get but i think you need the titan's mitt for a couple of them though -maridia. -brinstar stuff -tower of hera if you didnt yet -bomb the wall northwest of dungeon 2 where the fairy is in the light world for 2 easy chests
Jared has walked by that back entrance to the tavern (right below sick boy's house) like 100 times. There's a chest there that's normally a bottle, and I really want him to go in there and check it. Ha.
This was from a couple of episodes ago... you went to a cave southeast of Lank's house where there were mini moldorms. You opened the four chests in the cave, but you didn't talk to the villager/thief for a fifth item. I'm not saying to hurry back; it's just something to keep on the list if you run out of places to look (assuming that you haven't already completed filming episodes).
@@Karashata You are correct, sir. Just as you postulated, you have to step out of the door in order to attack or use items.. However, as you have seen, on a rare occasion, the hurt box of an enemy can *STILL* sneak into a doorway even when you think you're safe.
Pretty sure Lank and Samus have a really weird friendship that compels them to just pick up weird things during their adventures and be like "huh, I bet [other character] would like this." After they're done exploring dungeons for the week, they go out for milkshakes to relax (Lank ends up buying because Samus always "forgets" her wallet in her ship) before going their separate ways again. Also, birds aren't real and you've been in a coma for months, please WAKE UP, your real family misses you.

Jared! You can attack with the sword in doorways in this game. This ain't no Zelda 1, son. Also, you can always leave the Dark World with a Select - save - quit. That always brings you back to the light world. You only start on the pyramid once it's open.
Regarding the Lumberjacks: They only make progress on that tree once you've defeated Agahnim. Also of note, once you've done that the overworld levels up in difficulty in terms of enemies, so keep that in mind. You can also check to see what the item in that cave is by going as far north as possible in that area and checking in the cave. You can see what's on the ledge before committing to killing Agahnim. If you don't have to kill Agahnim to get east dark world access (which you don't need to in this seed), then that location is the only reason you would need to, except for a very rare fringe case where the hammer is in the pyramid (which is also not the case here).

The flag for the lumberjacks' tree opening up is defeating Aganihm in Hyrule Castle. So no, you can't get that one yet. You can, however, check the cave behind their house and see what the item is, because it's the only item that defeating Aganihm opens up for you, and if it's something useless you can just skip that entire dungeon.

Can you use weapons in the doorway? I seem to remember there being at least one Zelda game where you can't....
While I think Jared was peeved about dying in Thieves' Town, it actually payed dividends for him, because otherwise he would have forgotten the chest that had the Cane of Somaria in it.
Remember, when you feel like things aren't going your way and you don't know why, and you need something to pick you up when all seems lost, well maybe, just maybe, *IT'S GOTTA BE CANE!!*

-The right side of death mountain has a good (10 i think) items you can get but i think you need the titan's mitt for a couple of them though

-bomb the wall northwest of dungeon 2 where the fairy is in the light world for 2 easy chests

Jared has walked by that back entrance to the tavern (right below sick boy's house) like 100 times. There's a chest there that's normally a bottle, and I really want him to go in there and check it. Ha.

This was from a couple of episodes ago... you went to a cave southeast of Lank's house where there were mini moldorms. You opened the four chests in the cave, but you didn't talk to the villager/thief for a fifth item. I'm not saying to hurry back; it's just something to keep on the list if you run out of places to look (assuming that you haven't already completed filming episodes).

Jared standing in that doorway NOT using the hammer or attacking in any way. Why? You were “safe.”
If I recall correctly you can't use items or your sword while standing in doorways.
@@Karashata You are correct, sir. Just as you postulated, you have to step out of the door in order to attack or use items.. However, as you have seen, on a rare occasion, the hurt box of an enemy can *STILL* sneak into a doorway even when you think you're safe.

Pretty sure Lank and Samus have a really weird friendship that compels them to just pick up weird things during their adventures and be like "huh, I bet [other character] would like this."
After they're done exploring dungeons for the week, they go out for milkshakes to relax (Lank ends up buying because Samus always "forgets" her wallet in her ship) before going their separate ways again.
Also, birds aren't real and you've been in a coma for months, please WAKE UP, your real family misses you.
In a way, going to the Dark World now is similar how we all probably first went as a kid, scared and confused

All the non dungeon treasures available in the dark world, and its the dungeon. Though Sumaria is nice for much later.
