I’m from Clare Island, nice to see an outsiders perspective and meanderings to some places I’ve not walked around in years myself, glad you got the good weather.
I have been twice and got good weather both times. It is a beautiful island for its scenery and pace of life. Was on Inishturk recently and it is a wee gem too, thought the weather wasn't as good😊
Them mountains just rise up from the sea Gerry. An impressive site to be walking and camping in among. As ever though you got the small details in, which is pretty much your signature. Well, I sat back and watched completely. Very enjoyable All the best. Mark
Beautiful video Gerry, loved the moody evening shots especially the misty seascapes, stunning landscape and very well edited. I really enjoyed my time on Clare Island, sorry just forgot I wasn't actually there! regards Aidan.
Geographically like my neck of the woods Gerry, next parish is America! What a place to sleep amongst. Thanks for the connection and walk through Clare island, beautifully filmed. By the by,is the island still Gaelic speaking, not sure if it's part of the Gaeltacht? Atb Andy.
Cheers Andy, it is a gorgeous little island which could walk around in a day but was great to spend a night on. I think it is still Gaelic speaking but like many islands is struggling with an older population as younger people move to towns and cities on the mainland.
I think the west of the island is best for wild camping as it has those stunning cliffs and is the most remote. If you climb up towards Knocknaveen hill there are possible camp spots and fantastic views back to the harbour. If you follow the coast north from the harbour there will be spots to wild camp not too far away.
Larry, there are plenty of out of the way places to camp where no one would even know. the old signal tower at the far west of the island is a great spot as i would say is on the summit of Knockmore :-)

Pot Noodles, the hikers friend. 👍👍❤️
Charles, I am afraid I have to make the important distinction between Pot Noodles and Super Noodles - which are my hiking best friend😊😊

Cheers Mark, as we both know there is something magical about mountains and water :-)
A pleasure as always Gerry. You have a magical eye for the magical mountains mate. Take care...

Cheers Aiden, it is definitely a place worth visiting in person ;-)
Brilliant to watch Gerry - must have been a great trip to be on. Following in the footsteps of Robert Lloyd Praeger no less!
Cheers Adrian, I was there previously for a day and wanted to explore more of the island and spend a night and it was well worth it :-)
Raw Nature, lovely shots and sounds Gerry...
Cheers Mark :-)

Nice! Is it handy enough to find a wild camping spot not too far from the pier, or do you have to head well out the island?

Lovely shots. I may tip out before the summer is out. Any hassle camping from the natives?

You got some cracking weather again Gerry, I never seem to get good weather when I go out.
Glenn, I am sure it only seems that way and no doubt you are making the most of this brilliant summer (so far) :-)
Fantastic video, you've inspired me to go! Did you create a gps track for it?
Cheers Colin, the route is on viewranger.com if you use it - just search Clare Island.
how is there fresh water on that rock and sea all around
Jasper, it is a pretty big island (by Irish standards) and has a few streams and small loughs.
What is the app that shows the map at the end? At 18:05
