- The KGBeast lives! The Russian super-assassin is back-but under whose orders? Does he have a specific mission, or is this simply some leftover Cold War mayhem? Nyet, comrade-it has to do with Bruce Wayne’s recent court case involving Mr. Freeze. Something is rotten in Gotham, and you can still smell it, even if it’s on ice!
▸ Who Is Batman: Batman is a superhero appearing in American comic books published by DC Comics. The character was created by artist Bob Kane and writer Bill Finger, and debuted in the 27th issue of the comic book Detective Comics on March 30, 1939. In the DC Universe continuity, Batman is the alias of Bruce Wayne, a wealthy American playboy, philanthropist, and industrialist who resides in Gotham City. Batman's origin story features him swearing vengeance against criminals after witnessing the murder of his parents Thomas and Martha as a child, a vendetta tempered with the ideal of justice. He trains himself physically and intellectually, crafts a bat-inspired persona, and monitors the Gotham streets at night. Kane, Finger, and other creators accompanied Batman with supporting characters, including his sidekicks Robin and Batgirl; allies Alfred Pennyworth, James Gordon, and Catwoman; and foes such as the Penguin, the Riddler, Two-Face, and his archenemy, the Joker.
Kane conceived Batman in early 1939 to capitalize on the popularity of DC's Superman; although Kane frequently claimed sole creation credit, Finger substantially developed the concept from a generic superhero into something more bat-like. The character received his own spin-off publication, Batman, in 1940. Batman was originally introduced as a ruthless vigilante who frequently killed or maimed criminals, but evolved into a character with a stringent moral code and strong sense of justice. Unlike most superheroes, Batman does not possess any superpowers, instead relying on his intellect, fighting skills, and wealth. The 1960s Batman television series used a camp aesthetic, which continued to be associated with the character for years after the show ended. Various creators worked to return the character to his darker roots in the 1970s and 1980s, culminating with the 1986 miniseries The Dark Knight Returns by Frank Miller.
DC has featured Batman in many comic books, including comics published under its imprints such as Vertigo and Black Label. The longest-running Batman comic, Detective Comics, is the longest-running comic book in the United States. Batman is frequently depicted alongside other DC superheroes, such as Superman and Wonder Woman, as a member of organizations such as the Justice League and the Outsiders. In addition to Bruce Wayne, other characters have taken on the Batman persona on different occasions, such as Jean-Paul Valley / Azrael in the 1993-1994 "Knightfall" story arc; Dick Grayson, the first Robin, from 2009 to 2011; and Jace Fox, son of Wayne's ally Lucius, as of 2021. DC has also published comics featuring alternate versions of Batman, including the incarnation seen in The Dark Knight Returns and its successors, the incarnation from the Flashpoint (2011) event, and numerous interpretations from Elseworlds stories.

The last 3 panels of this comic are pure gold. "I am the world's greatest detective. I'll find out who hired you, and I will break them too. You can get your own damn help." I love it. So. Much. Says more than any grunting and angry shouting our nuance or whatever. Just a few choice words.

He's been going by the name Ric Grayson people have been trying to help him get his memory back but he's not fighting but just going off Natural Instinct. That girl has already tried to get him back but has been failing. I assume that it will take Starfire to probably finally get him back. Right now one of the cops have took on the mantle of Nightwing

Tom King took the right steps here, as life beats Bruce down he’s angrier than his normal self similar to Death of The Family & TDKR, Nightwing trying to bring Batman back over to the light instead of sourcing power from pain all the time, the silent Jotaro-like resolve despite a lack of emotion, and Batman being on his P’s & Q’s as a fighter against KGBeast, who mind you, killed anyone who’s ever loved/cared about him. In Year One I believe, Batman saved a criminal from a car on fire and his reasoning was, “but even criminals have family.” KGBeast has no family, no trainers, anyone who’s ever cared about him was considered weak and died for it. For being human. KGBeast’s lack of humanity got him to the same place Joker was at, where Batman turns him into the equivalent of a vegetable without officially killing him by his hands. Then in Batman Begins fashion, he won’t put his opponent down and kill him, but he also won’t save him either.

Completely agree , tom king's run has been terrible for the most part. To say he has a golden pen for writing batman is crazy. Definitely the laziest writing for the character in the past 20 years.

Batman's whole little "I will break him" leads me to think of only 1 person. The man who broke the bat.
I’ve had to explain for years that some people greatly overstep the limits of Batman’s moral compass. Batman’s story will always end the same way, he will cross the line. Frank Miller tried to convey that as best as possible. King & Snyder have all conveyed that as well. That’s what makes his character so compelling. Not this delusional sense of morality that he bravely never crosses, but the never ending torture he is under to not cross the line, to stop caring. That’s why I appreciated Batfleck so much. Love this rebirth run.

Well that's a twist on Jingle Bells I never heard as a kid.
Just like in Batman Begins to Ra's Al Ghul. "I'm not gonna kill you. But I don't have to save you." That's always been Batmans justification in these instances. But Batman HAS killed before when he first appeared. His no killing rule came way later and they built that in in the various retelling of his origins if I remember right.

Batman: looks into every possible solution to bring damian back, invents a new batsuit, goes to apocalypse by HIMSELF, plows through darkseids army, maims DARKSEID, threatens to blow up Apocalypse and kill darkseid (and would have), stabs his dead son with some magic shard to bring him back as a last hope and succeeds. He went ham. Anyone saying "what about damian" needs to shut the hell up. He literally scared the shit out of one of the most evil beings in the multiverse to get his son back.
KGBeast is just going to show up in 20-80 issues with cybernetics and be put down quickly.

tom king said that his whole batman run is sort of a spiritual successor to that infamous batman story, batman: knightfall.
He's starting with batman at his highest point in his life with the wedding and then tearing him down before rebuilding him

Dick Grayson was my best friend, and you got him killed. (Go back in Time. ) Flying Grayson's die. Dick sad but his best friend is still there. batman comes along and adopts him. Bf knows its for the best. Crys when he leaves. He reads the papers and sees batman has a side kick. He looks fimiliar but thinks "hey this kids pretty cool, he kinda looks like my old friend. " he takes a liking to Robin. One day he wants to be like him. So he trains. ((s/n) his dad was the Strong man in the carnival they were in.) 2 years later he is walking home, down a alley where Robin is fighting a group of thugs. Robin(Dick) is handling them(Batman has ran after the main villain) Robin Is about to get hit from behind, but someone stops him(henchmen)knocks him out. 'I know that flip anywhere! ' he says. 'I knew were going yo a better place, but to the BatCave? Bro that's too cool! Robin realizes who the random figure is. 'Dom!?' Shhhsss Sidekick rule number 1, never give out real names. Protect your family. (Warm embrace) :small talk: Robin' well Bru...Bats probably waiting for me, gotta go.' Be safe bro(fist bump). Next scene. (Nightwing & Batman swinging. :D ) POW!! Nightwing dead. Batman and KGBeast fight. Batman leaves KGBeast to die... Enter Shadow Wing! Steps on KGBeast neck*Snap* finishes the job! Batman turns around surprised ***POW*** YOU KILLED MY friend, my brother... Batman tries to gain his barrings. 'It might be time for a new way of thinking' ***POW*** Bruce wakes up at home in bed. Alfred comes in. "Your finally awake Master Bruce? I didn't hear you come in. I figured you were still out. I come in to check 3 days later here you are." Master Graysons... (Holds back tears) Master Grayson Funeral arrangements have ... Been taken care of. Bruce comes to. "Alfred, did you say 3 days?...

Interesting idea from Houston Driver a friend of mine. Imagine Batman being the Supreme deity as if he were in the realm of Call of Cthulhu storytelling. Where with that God he wakes up the world ends this based on the ending of the video game Batman Arkham Knight.
