Just got mine a few days ago and I'm a bit overwhelmed with all the things to learn about this new car and this is my 4th Mazda3 Hatch. Thanks for the video!
Hi Tom, the 30-minute in-depth look at the CX-30 is really great, and much appreciated. It should be 'supplied' with every new car! I've had my lovely CX-30 since Jan 29, but sadly have not driven it very much because of Covid, and work I'm having done at the outside of the house. When I had the official handover, because it was my first Mazda, it was a little less familiar than for some. The girl was excellent, but at that stage all I was really ready for was the very basic instructions to drive it home safely. If she had done the same as your excellent video there and then, I would probably have forgotten most of it! Your video was exactly what I needed. Even after 5 months a lot of what you said I didn't even know! But now I am in a position to take it on board, and your video beats any any handbook, printed or electronic hands down. I loved the way it was so friendly and informative, yet funny, too! Your references to the 'knob', for example, were really well done. To try and avoid anything suggestive, just makes it worse. When I was a boy, if you were having an injection, you were warned that it was just a little prick coming. It's certainly not a 'scratch' as they say now! Keep up the excellent work - Johnson's are really lucky to have such great gurus on the premises. I definitely want to make it up to Gloucester some time, and if I do, I'd love to pop in and say hi, circumstances permitting! 👍👍
@@mazdagurus5451 Thanks, Tom - and fellow gurus! Yes, still loving the CX-30, and my local dealer had a LHD version of the new MX-30 on Dutch plates, over from the Netherlands, for us to take for a drive. The main benefit of using the auto headlight switch is while driving at night you’ll also activate auto high beams. They’ll automatically go on/off based on traffic around you. If you just drive around with your full headlighting system on when you turn off your Mazda vehicle the headlights will auto shut off - which is nice - but auto high beams only activate if you have your headlights always set to auto mode.
Hi Tom, Thanks for this video, very in-depth and very useful as I'll be picking up my car in the next few days. Am keen on speed alert and how to use the auto cruise control.
Top tip! You DO NOT need the heated steering wheel option, there are two massive vents either side of the instrument cluster, these blow masses of hot air over your hands, which warms them so much better than the regular heated steering wheel does. I got the top spec version because it came with the heated wheel and I've never used it. Also, the volume and track selection control located beside the gear stick is for the passenger to use! Not the driver.
Excellent video, I picked up some features that I was not aware of. Traded in my Mazda MX-5 ND and collected my Mazda 3 100 anniversary 2 weeks ago and it's fantastic. I recommend this car to anyone.

Beautiful!! Thank you so much for this informative video. I have watched a bunch of videos about about mazda 3's interior but your''s was one of if not the most informative. Super excited to pick mine up tomorrow from the dealership haha.
Great video, thx!!!! Just got a Mazda 3, turbo premium. 2022. I am still having trouble, figuring out how to get back to manual tuning to change the favorites that were in the car already. Maybe you already have a video on that somewhere! Very grateful for your explanation😊
These videos are really useful. Would also be good to know if there is a trip setting which will show time if journey, average speed and consumption as can’t find one. Also is there a way to listen to radio without “start vehicle to charge 12v battery” after few mins when parked?
Does not appear to be a shut off on each vent. Assume you simply point the louvres downwards. That in combination with the flow selector (screen Vs feet) and fan speed selector probably does the job. A shut off on each vent might be more effective, but clutter the asthetics.
It’s rather curious that even though your Mazda3 is right hand drive, the light/indicator wand and wipers wand are set up for left hand drive. Here in Australia, also right hand drive, the indicator/lights wand is correctly on the right and the wipers wand is on the left.
Great video, but I'm left with a couple of questions. Any idea why there is seemingly a smattering of both rest of the world, and American units of measurement? Miles on display as opposed to Km, when temperature is in C, not F. Is the CD player a strictly UK option for that model? I have a PP sedan, and I _wish_ I had that!
Good and informative thanks. I'm about to take delivery of a 21 plate G20 Pure over here in Australia that's the base model. No cd player which is a bit of a bummer but.. just one question.. Either side of the Speedo cluster there are 2 buttons.. I think one might be a brightness setting for the clocks.. but what's the other one? Trip reset?
Thank you for this. I'm a proud owner of a Mazda 3 BP Skyactiv-G 122, 6 MT. I used to leave the automatic lights in Auto Mode and simply let the car decide when the switch to Hi/Lo Beam. I realised during my 63000 km (39k miles) that almost every time the car goes to Hi Beam and another driver is coming the other way, I get a flash from the other driver - thinking I left the Hi beam on. This has happened a lot. Is this also a problem on UK models? (I bought mine in Germany in 2020) Cheers mate.
Thanx great info video.. I have a 2023 Mazda CX 30 G25 Astina I'm wondering if you could tell me what the little round orange icon that comes up on the projector screen on the windscreen is occasionally comes up and flashes at me lol and I am wondering what it is
Thanks for the run through - one quick question - what is the blue bit and the battery symbol at the top of the MPG gauge? Presumably something to do with the hybrid?
Hi Tom, thanks for all of this info. Is there an indicator on the dash whether the auto high beam thing on the side of the dock is active of not? Thanks!
Hi, one question of the wiper switch. If one left the switch on active position and leave the car and on next morning the wipers has frozen stuck on the windscreen... What happens?
I have an older CX-5; the controls look the same as this. If the rain sensor on the screen detects droplets, the wipers will activate. On a cold morning, I would always carefully free up the wiper blades before I press the start switch. Don't want to risk damaging the blades, motor, fuses.
In England the indicator & lights stalk is on the left due to Euro specifications where they all drive on the wrong side of the road. The Australian cars are covered under the Australian design rules and have the stalk on the right side. In Aust I drive an English build Honda Civic hatch which has a left side stalk our other Honda made in Japan has it on the right. It does not take long to get used to the change when switching between vehicles. I am however about to place an order for a CX30 so this video will come in very handy. Thank You.
Fantastic information. Can I just ask if the infotainment system supports the use of SD Cards for music playback and are the heated door mirrors activated when the rear demister comes on?
Very interested by the indicator stalk. There is an odd history with stalks. Generally the indicator stalk is on the opposite side to the shifter. Reason being is that a driver can chang gears with one hand while indicating with the other. In Australia this would be left hand for gear and right for indicator. In Europe/Americas the reverse is true. But sadly European car makers never understood this and would never change the indicator position, leaving it on the left for all markets. Asian manufacturers like Mazda, Toyota understood this so would always install the indicator on the correct side (right) for right hand drive countries. But seems the UK has decided to be the only right hand drive market that installs the indicator on the wrong side, potentially because the UK is predominantly European models that were inconsiderate in the first place. Thankfully most markets don’t have manual anymore (so it’s no longer an annoyance). Although the UK is one of the few counties left where manual transmissions are still always provided as an option.
Didn't know about the history, always been familiar with the indicator being on the right on my previous cars in the UK (Ford/Vauxhall). When I got my first Mazda, indicator on the left caught me out. Fortunately, it's an auto, so not a problem. Guess it may be inconvenient of I was to use the manual shift feature of the gearbox.
can you choose the distance that the key fob is away from the car for auto-lock to occur? I have to leave my keys near the door and a window in my small apartment, and I always get the warning that my car is unlocked.
You need to press on your phone screen to do manual focus if your camera doesn't focus automatically for you :) Also you forgot to explain the Trip button and the Instrument Panel lights button on the sides of instrument panel lol And there's also the hidden button on the side of the glove box but that is not that important
You can't. Always shows up marks and dust, same on my 2014 CX-5. Wish they had replaced that on the CX-30, with say a dark grey 'brushed metal' effect plastic.
how do i turn off my 2021 mazda cx30 passenger airbag off when no one is riding in that seat ... it's driving me crazy! Thanks ... great video ... much appreciated.
If you really want you can manually switch the airbag off in majority of our cars using the switch in the glovebox (you need to insert your key to switch it off). Airbags are a huge safety feature so probably not best to switch them off just because the warning light is on to show you that passenger airbag is off. If you do switch it off remember to switch it back on when you have a passenger.
Watching from Israel . Love your video :) Where can i find the video about all types of cruise control in the CX-30 ? Just bought mine a week ago . Not sure how to use the speed lim, the regular cruise controls and the adaptive one . Thanks for your help
@@daviddou1408 You would be amazed how many people (me) have not got a fancy expensive phone, and what good is having the music on your computer unless you intend to carry it into your car, and some I pods mine included work perfectly fine but are a few years old and will not work in new cars, so unless I buy a new one I can't listen to all the music I have transferred to it in the car ,a cd player is so quick and simple push in the slot and voila! the exact music you want instantly.
Yes, I have it's a great way of listening to your own music and actually better than a CD player as you can store so many tracks on it, it took me a while to work out how to do it though at my age lol. thanks for trying to help me.@@SaxJockey
Thanks for the video. I’ve got mine on order and should be picking it up in a couple of months (no CD player 😢) so this is very useful to watch. There is one thing I’m unsure of… what’s that circle for on the right of the screen? I assume a sensor of some sort?
Correct! It is the driver monitoring camera that detects changes in the drivers facial features and estimates the amount of accumulated fatigue and sleepiness of the driver.
In the USA premium top of the line, We don’t get the electric folding mirrors, istop, fog lights, 360 camera, Heated steering wheel, or cup holder cover. Don’t get me wrong, it’s one of the best cars I’ve ever owned, and I love the red interior, but why drop all these features? Cost? I would’ve gladly paid a little more. Crazy.
With istop, it depends on the pressure on the brake pedal. If it's light the car won't shut off. If it is pressed down fully it will shut off. Just be light-footed if you're not stopping long.
Just bought a Mazda 3 and your video clarified so many things! thank you for the smooth journey. I wondered about the navigation. I read in another video that you have to connect the smartphone or buy a card from MAZDA, is that right? If you use a card or if it does come with navigation how do you use it since it has no touch screen?
I know you guys are from EU, but I have a 2020 mazda3 premium with every option that I bought a month ago, and am thinking about upgrading to the new turbo premium plus when that comes out. What are the new features and trim will be changed from from the current premium to the premium plus? I’ve read that they added the aluminum/chrome peice around the starter, I’m assuming that’s also with the chrome in the steering wheel around the mazda logo, and the glovebox handle? I know we are finally getting a heated steering wheel, and the 360 camera system, and a few more saftey features but what else can we expect?
Hi Mazda Gurus - 1st time ever owning a Mazda - have Mazda 3, 2019 Skyactiv G Sport Lux - great car - this is also BEST MOST INFORMATIVE CHANNEL ☺ Have issue with auto-folding power mirrors - only had car a week and suddenly they do not auto fold upon leaving/entering car - I? checked settings in infotainment channel and it is ticked to auto-fold but they wont anymore - they fold fine when I press button on drivers door - any ideas - am I missing something?? Thanks
I had this issue on my 2018 CX-3 and it turned out to be a faulty door lock. Do they fold out if you start the engine? My dealership (Lansdown Mazda) sorted it in a couple of hours under warranty so worth asking.
Can't help but notice the fact that this is a RHD UKDM car, but it has the lighting controls on the left as opposed to the JDM RHD cars that have the lighting controls on the right. I have one in Asia and it's a Japan Made, RHD with the lighting controls on the right. howcome?
Thanks for all the info. Just wanted to ask if you can play music from your phone (Spotify) without using Apple car play but wireless (Bluetooth). Also, where is the best place (online) to purchase Mazda 3 (2020 sedan) accessories? I am based in Europe (Cyprus). Thanks
Just set up a Bluetooth connection without usb connection to the car and it will work. Or if your phone needs power you better set the start Android Auto or Carplay on manual choice every time.
I have a very specific question about the new Navigation area. I found it once but now I cannot. There is a way to take a favorite which you created using a street address and edit it so you can give a name to the favorite. If you could show me how to get to that screen, I would be eternally grateful. I was a wiz on the 2016 Mazda 3, but I just got a 2021 and I am floundering a bit. Thanks.
Just a question about the HBC, do you have to push the lever forward if you want to use this feature (as though you were using the High Beam manually)?

@@mazdagurus5451
Thank you,I will give that a go.
14:17 whats the button on right is for?
This is to disable some of the safety features.
can you choose the distance that the key fob is away from the car for auto-lock to occur? I have to leave my keys near the door and a window in my small apartment, and I always get the warning that my car is unlocked.
You need to press on your phone screen to do manual focus if your camera doesn't focus automatically for you :)
Also you forgot to explain the Trip button and the Instrument Panel lights button on the sides of instrument panel lol
And there's also the hidden button on the side of the glove box but that is not that important
I assumed the buttons at the edges of the instrument panel (at 2:25) are the trip counter and panel lighting adjustment.
How do I move the front driver's seat and where is the fuel button to unlock
Hi Annette there is no fuel button just push the fuel cap in when the car is unlocked and it will pop out. Your seat depends on what model you have
How do you protect the piano or glossy black interior
Am I right in saying the air con needs to off for I stop to operate if so whys that
Watching from Israel . Love your video :)
Where can i find the video about all types of cruise control in the CX-30 ?
Just bought mine a week ago . Not sure how to use the speed lim, the regular cruise controls and the adaptive one .
Thanks for your help
I have a 2021 CX 30 in Australia, no CD player. I honestly think thats a bit ordinary.
Mazda are slowly removing them from the range in the UK too.
@@cmpillred277Have you tried to copy music to a USB memory stick and plug that into the USB socket in the centre console?
Crazy.
We don't get a sun roof'
Sorry i was talking about the CX5.
Ya why is that?!
It gets frigging cold here in the USA and a heated steering wheel would be nice.
Mine had a sunroof and heated seats and a heated steering, it’s a mazda3 2020 hatchback
How do you lock your trunk
I walk away it says closed but not locked…. I cannot figure it out it’s a newer model….Help lol
We have a video on that
If you have keyless entry the boot will always open if you have key on you. If you try and open the boot without the key on you it will stay locked
With istop, it depends on the pressure on the brake pedal. If it's light the car won't shut off. If it is pressed down fully it will shut off. Just be light-footed if you're not stopping long.
Thank you for that tip.
There is going to be turbo version?
Hi Mazda Gurus -
1st time ever owning a Mazda - have Mazda 3, 2019 Skyactiv G Sport Lux - great car - this is also BEST MOST INFORMATIVE CHANNEL ☺
Have issue with auto-folding power mirrors - only had car a week and suddenly they do not auto fold upon leaving/entering car - I? checked settings in infotainment channel and it is ticked to auto-fold but they wont anymore - they fold fine when I press button on drivers door - any ideas - am I missing something??
I have one in Asia and it's a Japan Made, RHD with the lighting controls on the right. howcome?
Nice one!! Well explained.
Thanks a lot 😊
Does the autohold system operate the foot brake or the parking brake?
It is the foot brake.
Thanks
Don't know about Apple, but Android can connect sound over Bluetooth with no issue
Thanks.
Hi Jim, Guru Tom has done a video especially for you th-cam.com/video/qJefz7usdSI/w-d-xo.html
@@mazdagurus5451 Thanks. I had since figured it out, but it was good that you took the time to produce a video. 👍
How do I work my cruise control
Love it, so good
Glad you like it!
are those socks included with that car? XD made the hole video memorizable although he switched around the windowheaterbuttons ;)
😁
Excellent!
Many thanks!
The mute on steering wheel is interesting. I dont think my 09 nissan has that. I would just shut the radio off. Decent tutorial. Thx.
All I want to do is turn the radio off and still be able to get voice information when I'm using the on-screen gps maps.
How do I get clock to show on screen when I am driving
helps a lot thankyou
You're welcome.
Any help on speed alerts would be appreciated. Can’t figure out how it can warn me if I am speeding.
Just a question about the HBC, do you have to push the lever forward if you want to use this feature (as though you were using the High Beam manually)?
I just press the button on the side and it works for me like that
Thank you, sir
You are welcome!
Is the height of the passenger seat adjustable?
Lol why not?!
It has a handle you pump down to raise, or pull up to lower the seat.
Can you change the look of the centre tft display to the one you had in an sel lux model ?
My INFO button does nothing when pressed ?
