I had the same issue with the seals not going in well. I tried putting these in the freezer overnight to help shrink these a little prior to instal. Still not easy to press these in. Great videos as always. Cheers Ian
Cheers Ian... i spoke to other people about the seals and no one has come across this so good to hear you had. I seem to uncover all the problems with my build!
Hey man, I know it's normal for people to be know it all's in the comment section, but I think you might want to check your brake shoe spring placement. They should hook from one post on the shoe to the post on the backing plate. I have an 88 so the layout is different but I assume the design would be the same. Just from the video the design seems the same from my eye. Incorrect placement could hurt performance over time after the parts (return springs, shoes, drums) wear/break in together. Hope this helps! Everyone knows these brakes need all the help they can get.
Hiya Hunter - thanks for the post and by all means I do appreciate comments! I am no mechanic (I think I say that somewhere lol) but was also paranoid about the brakes. I checked SO MANY TIMES that I think I got it right :) I referred to the manual and googled other pics of 11" front brakes 109 (eg www.expeditionlandrover.info/landRoverFAQ/FAQ_rearbrakes.htm) - so I think I got it right but to be sure ill check once more. Thanks again.
Unfortunately the blue box stuff is renown for it - I won't knowingly use them anymore (sometimes they don't say when you're ordering though which can be annoying).
Absolutely - these days don't think OEM means anything (on its own anyway) sadly! I tend to go with the suppliers here that actually say which brand the item is but appreciate when you're trying to get stuff shipped halfway around the world choices might be a little more limited!
Looking good, always great to see these old Landy's cared for and restored! Good luck with the rest of your build from the UK!
Thanks, and build is complete and it's registered.
@@rovertasmania7033 oh right thats great! I'll keep watching!

Thx Eric! Yep super excited to get this far...
Thanks for doing these videos. Excellent help for a newbie.
All the best with yours, they are fairly easy to work on.

Nice progress 👍🏼 why can't they make parts that fit properly? poor quality control.....
Yeah Rusty, makes a job harder than it needs to be. Most likely 'Made in C...a" crap...
Rover Tasmania Almost certainly from China 🤔 I have just ordered parts to fix a leaking hub seal, it will be interesting to see what they are like. 😀

Nick S I've ordered "OEM" but as you say there's no guarantee what will arrive 😜
