You DON'T NEED the G Master! | Sony 85mm f/1.8 Lens Review

I've owned the Sony 85mm f/1.8 lens for about 10 months now, and I've discovered that is great at much more than just portrait photography! It is also a no-brainer to get this lens over the 85mm f/1.4 G Master option from Sony, for most users anyway. I love this lens, and in this video, I am going to tell you why!

I've had it for a few years, and no complaints. Shooting bands in small venues has been really nice with it, in particular. I'm getting enough reach, and that 1.8 in dark clubs is nice. Surprisingly, I've preferred it for street photography over some of my wider options (it's been hot lately, and my deodorant only holds up so long).

awesome because I have been thinking about getting an 85mm to go with my a7c. I really liked the split screen with the photos - one side was still the other had motion - good edit. Thx for all the info, very helpful! Keep making videos!

Just bought it on a sale for about 380 EUR. Started doing more portraits recently as a new dad of a beautiful model and the max aperture 4.0 on my SEL24105G felt really limiting especially in poor light. I was surprised to find out that Sony has a prime lens this cheap, always thought they are far too expensive to consider for a secondary photo genre (my main interest is in landscapes and other wide panoramas). These reviews I find really surprising, that the lens this cheap receives so much appreciation everywhere. can't wait to try it out, not just on portraits but also interested in bit new angle this could add to my landscape shots.

Awesome - I got mine for a similar price a few years ago! It’s a very premium feeling lens considering the price to be honest. I think you’ll enjoy using it, as it produces some excellent results!
