Well I'm comparing it to the competition and I know there are other phones that only lose 2-3% over the same time period on standby!

If you can afford a Pixel 8, then I'd recommend going for that! If you can push to the Pixel 9 then I'd recommend going for that if you can get it on sale - it's better in my experience than the phones you listed, particularly from a battery standpoint and some other aspects like the fingerprint sensor. Nice one! Yes, I'm still using the a7C and it's still excellent for photo and video in 2024, and I think it still will be more than enough for most users for a good few years yet! It's always tempting to upgrade to the latest tech, but I would only recommend upgrading if you identify with 100% certainty that you need one of the newer features that one of the new cameras offer. Fair enough. Do you use the face unlock instead? I've found that to work quite well. The fingerprint sensor in the Pixel 9 seems to be a lot better in my experience as it's now using ultrasonic tech rather than optical, so it may work better for you if you end up getting that phone at some point!

There are a few main differences. The size of the phones, with the Pixel 8a having a 6.1" screen and the S23 FE having a 6.4" screen. The S23 FE uses an older chip when compared to the Tensor G3, so it's likely that the G3 is slightly more powerful and power efficient. And the cameras are very likely to be superior on the Pixel 8a than the S23 FE, although you get the extra 8MP telephoto on the Samsung (however, I've heard this isn't very good). Finally, I prefer the Pixel OS experience to Samsung's OneUI, so I would personally go for the Pixel 8a mainly because of that. Hope this helps!

To be fair, it's exactly the same dimensions as the Pro in terms of the body size, so I'm not surprised it's the same weight. I've also not found it to be 'heavy' - I think it feels solid and premium, which is good in my opinion. Cheers for the comment!

I would disregard the Pixel 7 in this case as I'm assuming you have the budget to get the Pixel 8 which is a better phone than the 7 in a few different ways. With the Nothing Phone 2, from what I've read online, the battery life will be better than on the Pixel 8, if that's important to you, and the gaming performance will likely be very slightly better on that phone, but I doubt it will really be noticeable. The Pixel 8 almost certainly offers a better camera experience, and I also really like the software experience on Pixel OS, so I would expect that to also be better on the Pixel 8. After that, I think it's up to preference, so I hope this helps you decide!

Yeah, that is a pain - the phone does heat up when you are filming video for an extended period of time and I imagine it will get hotter in warmer climates, so that is something to consider I guess!

I've never used the Pixel 7 Pro I'm afraid, but their specs are fairly comparable if you ignore the telephoto lens. However, you can't just look at the cameras in a vacuum, you've also got to consider the software updates too. The 8a is going to continue to be updated until 2031 whereas the 7 Pro only has another year or so of software updates. Google is going to continue to improve their image processing pipeline and that will likely improve the 8a camera results over time too, so you're probably better going with the 8a in my opinion.

Nice one! Yes, I agree, Pixel OS is so nice to use. I still think the Pixel Watch is pretty expensive for what it is - I wish they would make a cheaper version equivalent to the Apple Watch SE!

Fair point! I think the iPhones this year and the Pixel 9 Pro phones are equally bad for coming out without features that they have been marketed with, which is pretty annoying. They shouldn't market them with those features, but should just release them as a surprise feature drop later in the year. While they might not sell that many phones at the start, it would be a super positive thing for users who bought the phones not expecting those features, and might encourage the phone to sell better when it eventually goes on sale! I agree, 2025/26 should hopefully be when AI starts getting actually useful. I think we are already starting to see glimpses of it with Gemini Live and ChatGPT 4o as the natural chat functions are super useful in my experience! @@arranpbrown Okay this is bizarre. After days of research and trying every trick I could find and or think of I gave up. Today I get in my car, start it up and go to my phone to bring up Pandora. Suddenly a message pops up on my phone.....not verbatim however...."this device is requesting bluetooth connectivity for messages"...I about fell out of the car. Somehow the messages are now coming through in my Ford via Ford Sync. Crazy!

I think it depends on how you use it - it's definitely not as good as ChatGPT for creative idea generation etc. but I think it does fine for most of the things I ask it for!

It does get fairly warm after a fairly short period of time, but like I said in the video, I've played for over an hour and it hasn't overheated on me. So I don't know if that's a huge issue. If you're gaming every day, then it could be an issue for the longevity of the chip and battery to be fair, but I'm more of a casual mobile gamer. Hope this helps!

Wondering if I should go for the pro for the vapor chamber. It's the only additional feature I could see myself wanting but I do play casual games 30 or so minutes a few days a week

@awesam303 if you're just playing fairly casually for 30 mins then I don't think it's necessary to get the Pro to be fair. But it also depends if you live in a place with a fairly warm climate as it may be more prone to overheating in that environment. Hope this helps!

@@arranpbrown went on 2 business trips with the pixel and he left me stranded. Going on vacation next week, and hoping for the best, carrying a power bank for the time being. The phone charges quite slow as well for an android.

@Chico.00 yeah, the 8a does charge slowly to be fair. It's one of the main downsides about the phone in my opinion. Hopefully your experience with it improves, but yes, taking a power bank seems sensible!

I would honestly recommend the Pixel 8a, simply because you get software updates until 2031 vs only getting software updates until October 2025 for the 7 Pro. So the Pixel 8a will be supported for far longer, and has a slightly more powerful processor, so should have better longevity than the 7 Pro. Hope this helps!

I'm afraid I don't have access to the XL or Fold, but it doesn't get warm in normal use, only when you are using it for heavy tasks like gaming or using the camera for extended periods!

Yes, you can use super 35 mode in 120FPS, but you can't zoom in smoothly if that's what you're asking. Hope this helps!

Bit of a silly question, but have you tried restarting the phone? I think I've seen that glitch a couple of times, but it's always fixed itself for me after closing the app fully and opening it again!

I came to say the same thing. I have the hazel case for my 9 PRO XL and find it nearly unusable because of how slippery it feels in hand.

If that ends up being the case, then that does feel a bit strange - I agree! And I also agree about Google limiting a lot of the features to the U.S. which is disappointing for international users. Unfortunately both the monitors I use have now been discontinued 😅 so I'm not sure how useful a desk tour would be. I was planning on doing a video about my BenQ monitor about a year back as it's a really good monitor, but you can't buy it anywhere anymore, so I thought it wouldn't be very useful to anyone! Good point about 128GB being quite limited. However, I found it was enough for me on my Pixel 8. I had Google's cheapest 100GB Google One plan and it worked well enough for me to back up my photos. However, I'm fairly sure I take a below average amount of photos compared to most people, so you could be right, and depends a lot on the user!
